  1. Surely you can find a better beer than Miller Andy............ Oly FTW!
  2. Some very nice Fish caught in the video. One of the most underrated sport fish in the Fly fishing community IMO, and thats a sad thing. Of all the threads like this out there I must say this has been the most civil and educational of them. I think we all agree that taking care with our quarry is a good thing that reciprocates back into the fishery. As to the censorship deal, nothing is gained by hiding the truth or deflecting from it. People should be free to post there legally caught fish and people should be able to CONSTRUCTIVELY CRITICIZE them or compliment them. P.S. Clive I sure haven't topped a day of fishing as that evening of Pikin'. And even I who should more than know better was gitty as a school girl and made some unnecessary but marginal mistakes in handling of those hefty girls. Important thing is to learn from your mistakes so you can stop making them in the future.
  3. I generally fish alone and hunt alone and this is one thing the wife insists on me getting. They are easy to pack and reliable. And like FFW says the piece of mind is much better than getting ripped a new one from coming home late from a day of fishing/hunting that you just can't pull away from.
  4. I whole heartedly agree that the dog doesn't get the same treatment as I give myself and that ticks are one of the most disgusting and unnecessary creatures on this planet. Working trails in Waterton they were a regular occurence and only ever had them initially bite into me, never gave them a chance to swell up to a quarter. My skin is already crawling thinking about them lol. Best story I have is a friend who had one latch into a naturally occuring crevass seperating his thighs. He even had the nerve to ask his roommate who he'd only known for a very short while to remove it for him.....naturally he said no..... I always do a tick check after being in areas with ungulates or the like. There all over the mountains and all over the prairie....nowhere is safe from them. Hope no-one here ever has to go through getting lyme disease. the few people I do know who have it have had to go to extreme lengths to diagnose it and their quality of life has drastically reduced with one person almost a vegetable unable to get out of bed.
  5. Suffocating or causing severe stess (burning) to the ticks is not a good idea. When suffocating the tick the risk of regurgitation is high as well as with other old school methods. The best method for tick removal is to take tweezers and get them as clost to your skin as you can and pull in one slow steady motion. Alberta isn't known for issues with lyme disease although the experts are finally admitting the imaginary border that keeps rats out doesnt necessarily work for infected deer ticks. Wood ticks are not capaable of transmitting lyme disease as they remove it from their system when they moult and do not carry it any further in their 2-3 yr life cycle. There are a number of other diseases carried by the buggers, luckily most species of ticks are species specific and don't bother humans too much yet
  6. And that still puts the Flames lower on the Totem pole.....LMAO What is your purpose in this thread out of curiosity? The flames didnt make it as far so if you want to bring them down lower please continue to do so
  7. All I have to say is GO CHICAGO........ Lots of coulda shoulda woulda in this series and quite frankly the Canucks didn't play playoff hockey. Here is hoping we have the same potential next year to take our first piece of the bra! Sad to see the end to this year, but you have to play to win in order to win
  8. That was painful. Canucks can't try to coast through this series if they want to make a deep run into the playoffs this year. They better pull up their socks or Chicago is going to inch them away from the prize. Heres hoping for a better game 3!
  9. was a heart throbbing game when the Canucks decided to coast in the third. No excuse in the book would have covered a loss by the canucks, they had their chances and most of them the prevailed. Chicago isn't going to bend over and take it and they have some dangerous match ups. I'll take a win any way I can get it from the 'Nucks and hope they take it in 5!
  10. Gratz Dave......I'm hoping when mine pops out (of my wife) they give me the same deal..........
  11. I just couldn't picture Bobloblaw as a criminal so I was left with no other alternative
  12. Truthfully Hawgstoppah I don't want to face the flames in the first round either. however I think Chicago may just fudge it all up. We'll have to see how the next few games go to tell but I would rather the Canucks face Chicago in the first round or a lower seed team.
  13. I think a bump is in order for the Canucks. Must say I am surprised and glad they pulled off the feat of reclaiming first in the division, even if it turns out to be temporary. I know if the roles were reversed I would never hear the end of it and then some. Canucks are looking good heading into the playoffs. Glad to see there getting their game face on for the main event. GO NUCK'S GO!!!!!
  14. Looks like an awesome time Clive and Al. Too bad you guys aren't back in balmy Lethbridge to enjoy all the beautiful weather we've been having *right*. shorelines are opening up Clive so you know what that means Hope you have a great trip and a safe return. Looking forward to the rest of the pics!
  15. Gonna look awfully funny with 50 people fishing near the spring on opening day lol. If we get some decent weather some time soon ice should leave in a hurry, but spring seems to be a little shy atm. I think its time to start moving our calendar ahead/back much like daylight savings to make up for the inaccuracies in our attempt to create the illusion of time. That way spring would be here when its supposed to.
  16. JKknijders I believe the natives can harvest them although it has to be on crown land or land they have permission on. I would have to dig through the trappers act to see, but I still think its illegal for status natives to shoot them, although if it ever went to court it would be superceded by subsistence rights and thrown out of court with no charges sticking.
  17. With a camera? Otherwise they are protected as a furbearer and cannot be hunted, only trapped, or euthanized if they are considered problem wildlife. Awesome pics and thanks for sharing.
  18. I would have got whooped like a redheaded step-child for saying that when I was young. Glad its not mine lol.
  19. Although its not the Jeff in question Monger I did see some tracks, but I also did see some winterkilled ones. Overall I think the next season may be a bit slower than the last few years, but there are still some that will make it through. They seem to be fairing well around farm yards and heavy cover so far but thats about it. On the up side Sharpies seem to be doing really well though they are built for this weather.
  20. From my experience, its who's behind the camera, not the engine under the hood. Enjoyed the pics and look forward to more of your photos.
  21. Didn't get to see the game, but it's another notch in the win column and a 4 point game to boot Glad to see things are on the upswing.....now lets just hope it stays that way
  22. Nice pics Beedhead. Was out in that area the last couple days for work and the fresh snow sure adds a nice touch. Enjoyed and thanks for posting. I'll see if any of mine turned out, but I doubt they will compare.
