  1. Just keep in mind when trying to play on natures emotion that unless you have permission from the appropriate authorities, you are breaking the law by collecting wildlife, killing wildlife (this includes fish) unless under a license or authority to do so. Also animals not protected by statutes or limitations are exempt.
  2. Sometimes the Boars will stay out until January, but most bears are already settling into the stages of torpir. Many bears have been conditioned to our hunting seasons and stay out a bit later than what was considered "normal" in the past. Some bears don't put enough into stores and they will not sleep much through the winter. I have a black bear that follows me around religously this time of year looking for my gut pile. He moved into the area I hunt when they had the forestry closures down south a few years ago. I have a date with him some day this week.....if it ever snows.......Not far from where we fished Vic
  3. Don't forget to put him in charge of the of the global warming/carbon tax bank account.......I smell some new world class fisheries Sucks that people do this, but glad there was at least some justice
  4. Looks like a fine beechwood stock there Dune........might get a splinter or two with that cake.
  5. If I dont finish this two week stint of field work and eating out for every meal I may be there before I know it. At least I'll have free entertainment when I'm retired and the fish aren't biting
  6. my A cups dont bounce like they do in the demo. I knew it was too good to be true
  7. You have some not far away, there is a pack that lingers around the northeast border of Waterton and into the surrounding area. Not many would venture past Leavitt I would imagine (or make it past on four legs). Theres always room for a nerdy male wolf that might be out looking for some new bitches....so to speak. but then again keep in mind that apparently you were dillusional and were really looking at an extremely aggressive pomeranian as there are no canid hybrids out there over the 50 lb mark (insert tongue in cheek here)
  8. Pure strain Coyotes won't reach these weights but as soon as you start mixing in a little german sheperd here and a little malamute (insert any large breed dog here) there you end up with freakishly large coy-dogs. Not all coy-dogs resemble coyotes, but some retain all the normal characteristics, especially if those genes have been passed on a few generations.
  9. Hence why I used the term coydog....A breed of domestic dog and coyote
  10. you can get coy-dogs out here as well and I've seen 'em well into the 120 lb range.
  11. you need to send them cats to Shaughnessy for some coyote education. I went out to "haze" off a coyote just behind the fence and ended up scaring out two cats that were lying in prowl waiting for the coyote. was quite the site to see.
  12. Well at least its not as bad as pushing Al and Clive around in their wheelchairs.......they make Taco look like a young whipper snapper My theory is fishing isn't specifically about the people and more about the experience. Kind of like a universal language.....unless you're an elitist.
  13. I've noticed a big change in the customer service at WSS in Lethbridge since UFA bought them out. It's nice to go in and get a smile and a greet as well as someone willing to help you.
  14. Another set of awesome pics Wes. Looks like you had another awesome summer!
  15. Sorry didn't have my thesaurus at my side when I wrote that post. Last time I checked crown land was owned by the government and the public was allowed to use that resource provided there were no other provisions stating otherwise (ie. special areas and the like). I do believe that all Canadians.......not just Albertans are entitled to use that resource, also referred to as crown land, provided they do so in a legal manner. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not afraid to learn something new if I've missed something.
  16. It wasn't fair to group all flyfishermen collectively as everyone has there own individual opinions and objectives. I've been doing my best to bite my tongue in this thread as I have some weird fetish where I like to argue and sometimes shoot fromt he hip. So I'm trying to keep from dragging my personality through the mud as well as everyone elses with it. I had some involvement with the C5 forest management plan and all i can say is this is a complex issue with many stakeholders, all who have some entitlement to what they do. Oversimplifying and pointing fingers just keeps the merry-go-round spinning in an endless spiral downwards. If everyone would be willing to give a little instead of only take then one day they might find a legitimate solution to this ongoing issue.
  17. Funny how Flyfishermen want to take the crown land from everyone else but only one is willing to sacrifice his fishing to better the resource.
  18. Glad to hear it went well........Enjoy the new goggles
  19. Happy B-day Andy, hope you catch Earl's big brother. Might be able to get out for a mix of grouse and cutties sometime in the fall, maybe we can stick it to a few trout!
  20. Rick I went through the procedure ten years ago at the Gimble clinic and they were top notch. You'll most likely have your vision back the day of the surgery and within a couple days you wont even remember what being blind was like. Expect your brain to play tricks on you for the first while as it adjusts itself to the new vision, but don't let it get to you. Hope everything goes well and your new and improved eyes are everything you hoped them to be.
  21. Truthfully I'm not even going to read past the photos, do you know the history of this lure and whether someone actually used it or are you just speculating that it was used. No law stating you can't have barbed hooks in your box. I know lots of my flies haven't seen water in the past decade and they still have barbs, and heaven forbid one fall out of the box while changing. It's a shame these forums are all going the same route......
  22. It's pretty much a province wide event this time of year. Biggest orgy out there basically. And as usual the males get screwed out of everything
  23. Anyone Referring to these ass clowns as hunters is mis-informed. These are poachers and criminals and should not be labeled as anything but. This story has been brought to the public by another outdoor hunting and fishing forum and its amazing how fast things escalated to try and catch these wastes of skin.
  24. Of course you are referring to the castle system just outside of Nunuvat right.......
