  1. Hey, All, Just about to pull the trigger on a sink tip line and found that RIO has two different lines with a sink tip. There is an 'intouch' and a 'mainstream'. I have the 'intouch' version in all my other floating lines but was wondering about trying to get by with the 'mainstream' that is half the price. I have never skimped on line before but does anyone have an opinion or suggestion to why I shouldn't with the sink tip? I'm the type of guy that starts with a dry and only changes if I must, so was thinking for the times I'm going to be chucking and ducking - I'd live. For those who use them more often is there any reason I wouldn't want to do this? Thanks,
  2. I had seen this and forgot the title and was unable to find it again. Thanks for posting! This sort of stuff should go the way of Jumbo resort..... get rid of it!
  3. I second Taco's advice on the High River shop. I had seen one in there but that was a summer or two ago. Secondly - I'm not sure if it's just common knowledge so just not mentioned here - but I was told by the (one) helpful guy in Wholesale sports a couple of summers ago that Pfleuger does not make an alternate spool/cassette to that reel. I don't know if that would bother your buddy but just throwing it out so he isn't disappointed if he didn't know.
  4. I have never paid for his services but as for being active in the community I will give him a big plus 1. He often organizes clean up days and beginner days out towards the Cochrane area. The way I understand it he also hosts a fly tying night on the last Wednesday of each month at a local establishment. I have only met him at one of his clean up days but I will say he is nice and enthusiastic. I would expect your son to enjoy himself and come home hungry for more.
  5. The rubber on my soles has started to break off as well. Same brand 3 season, fair bit of hiking. @Uber - tried the social media thing with Tilley Hats. They didn't care.
  6. With home bases like those, it won't take long to make friends on here.
  7. @Lad - could ya post the author or let me know where to find it so I can read some of his work/opinions, in order to form my own. Also, any word on his plan for action?
  8. @Lad - Could you shed some light on to the reason this was posted anonymously? OR was it not and the name just wasn't included. Secondly; it's purpose, there are several threads open on multiple forums on this exact topic, not to mention the individuals FB page. This sounds like a personal vendetta. Please don't turn this place into AO. Thirdly do you know much about the authors plan for action? Like him or not (the guy being slandered) he is out there, boots to ground doing something. As others mentioned above; we'd be willing to listen to the authors ideas but he doesn't offer any, just anger. Can you please clarify for this.
  9. Thanks for the info, Uber. Will attend Cochrane.
  10. This does look like a good thread. I would vote for similar things to BC in his post. Tire them out before you go for sure, I find my dog is far more attentive when she is pooped out before we go. Hike in for a bit first - this will give your dog a chance to rip a bit and maybe you see new water. Secondly, ( I only have experience with one dog) I would also try to build a trust and not power over them - this is only my opinion but I think it's waaaaay easier to build a trust ie: make the dog know if it does something right, something good will happen, Instead of trying to be it's 'alpha male'. At first I used treats but quickly moved to lots of affection so the dog knew I was in charge but that she would be rewarded. I am sure there are a million ways to do it but that's what worked for mine. Pretty much make it your four legged best friend. Nice pup BC!
  11. Great pictures, thanks for sharing!
  12. Awesome fish, man - feel free to reflect on a few more fish like that if you want to.
  13. Great post Uber! looks like an awesome day
  14. On a camping trip once when my girlfriend was about mid-way through Trout Highway she looked up at me and declared, "you know, I really like this guy, he sure can tell a story". Neither of us ever had the pleasure of meeting Barry but I'd be lying if I said I had never thought of him on a river. I have no doubt his stories will continue to transcend generations to come. To his family and friends I sincerely hope that very soon you will be able to remember and enjoy the time you got to spend with Barry. My condolences to all that were able to call him a friend or family.
  15. How do we get them to stay in that area so they can clear out the good old boys from Racehorse creek next summer?
  16. Awesome photos, you are very talented!
  17. I use a regular deep cycle in an inflatable, I had fitted it with a wooden floor first but the inflatable holds the batt and me in the same end of the boat.
  18. Awesome pictures - I thought I had seen an owl around Cochrane as well. The picture of the owl is just unreal.
  19. Those look great! Nice variation!
  20. Thanks for posting Winston, I love that area and will continue to follow this.
  21. Great pics Ag - the different angles are a cool change from most.
