I Need New Wading Boots!
BurningChrome replied to bigalcal's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
At least laces are only a few bucks to replace and a spare pair don't take up a lot of space in your pack or vest. I use these as replacements and haven't ever had a pair break: http://www.marks.com/shop/en/marks/footwear/footwear-accessories/54-lace-38653 -

You need a business license to operate - can't just rent space at the mall and start selling stuff. Depending on the business you may also require certain insurance, for example I'm pretty sure gyms and recreation facilities need to carry a certain amount of liability insurance.

I Need New Wading Boots!

I haven't seen any reviews of them but I wore a pair all summer and loved them. Put a lot of miles on them on a lot of different rivers too. Found they were comfortable and I have bad knees so that says a lot. -
Dog Owners Opinion
BurningChrome replied to fishinglibin's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
This. Working dogs that don't get lots of exercise will put their energy to other uses, like destroying your house while you're not home. -
That's what I used to think but I hardly use my D750 since I got the X-T1. It's so much lighter and easier to carry around and still has awesome image quality.

You mean the closeup of the scales? That was a mega crop in LR. Pretty impressive for a little mirrorless APS-C sensor since I used to shoot full-frame DSLR.

I wore the Vapor boots with Vibram soles all summer, but as a wet wading boot on the Bow, Crow, Oldman, Liv, and various tribs. Never had a problem with traction on any of those streams. With waders I wear the G3 Guide boots and like bcube I plan on sticking with them. Tried the G4s with the Boa laces and rapidly learned that I hate that lacing system, so went back to the G3s. -

Which base did you get to? No wait, don't answer that...

Uh oh. This could be bad news for the Air-Lock and Sindicator. https://www.google.com/patents/US8015745?dq=fly+fishing

But will it hold up three wire worms?

Pretty sure I've seen them at FT, CP, and Iron Bow. I also think I heard that the 3/4" size (most common) are sold out and backordered from the manufacturer.

I think this sums it up nicely. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/154589232

Bautista was not staring down the pitcher, he was watching the ball. That's a pretty big difference.

I actually think it's nice to see some emotion and passion from ball players, especially during the playoffs. As long as it doesn't get over the top like NFL touchdown celebrations a few years back (TO, Joe Horn, Chad Johnson) then I think it's fine.

Pinching the line too tight to the cork can cause break offs too. Also some of the faster action rods just don't bend enough to protect lighter tippet but that shouldn't be as much of an issue with 3X. Are the break offs always right at the knot?

It's a good way to have someone help you get your setup dialled in and show you a few basics. There's always some more experienced casters down there who'll give you some pointers.

Our Day In Court Approaches....

Nope, but there was one years ago where the judge reduced it when I explained that I was a university student and needed a bit of extra time to pay the ticket. -

I'm sure if it were up to some people on this forum these guys would've gotten life in prison without any chance of parole. What they did was bad and it was wrong, but if you fine them so excessively that they can no longer afford to put a roof over their heads or food on their plates then what? Oh, and cops do have some discretion over the fine to give you on a speeding ticket. I've had a cop tell me he had me going X km/h over the speed limit but he wrote the ticket for only Y km/h to bump me down to the lower fine bracket. From there you can easily take the ticket to court and get the fine reduced by the judge or talk to the prosecutor to get the demerits reduced. It happens all the time. -

I agree with you on everything, though I think the better solutions would be education and more enforcement out there so that we can stop poaching before it even happens. Too easy to walk into a Walmart and buy a license, rod, reel, powerbait, and start fishing. I'll bet there are a lot of folks out there fishing illegally who don't even realize it because nobody made them look at the regs when they bought their license. I'm not saying that's the case here, but it could be a possibility. -
Best Guided Trip You've Ever Done?
BurningChrome replied to jgib01's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Destination - a week at Alaska West a few years back. Awesome guides back then but not sure if things have changed with the new ownership. Locally - overnight float on the Bow with Aaron Caldwell from Fish Tales. -
Maybe it got warm enough to melt some of the snow they got.

A spike like that with no recent rain can only mean they opened the dam. Either that or some sort of sensor or software fault.
