All those little ponds are pretty much done. Haven't seen anything in a lot of them the last week. Buller looked empty last Sunday, June 10.

12 and drinking rye. Nice. Must be a fellow Saskatchewanian.

Oh Birchy. What am I gonna do with you?

I plan on doing the same thing this year. I have some spots already marked out. Only 3 more days! -
I'll for sure let you know. And as Zipper mentioned there are other lakes and streams in the area. I'll give an update in early July and let everyone know how it was. I'm sure I'll have pics.

Well done!

I can't go opening day. But you can bet on it I'll be on the streams the following Monday. I'll be trying a bit higher up.

I also shop there for camping stuff and clothes. I do agree with LynnF's comment about having the fly fishing section to itself, it's great and the guys they have running it do know their stuff. It's a great improvement over the other store as there is much more space and of course many more new toys to look at. PS Congrats LynnF on the new grandbaby!

Good work guys! I've only been out there once and no success. I plan on trying again but I don't like crowds either. I'll try a week day maybe. Are you guys just wading or using a boat/floattube/pontoon? I'm a bit intimidated of fly fishing lakes so any little help or advice would make me feel a bit more confident. I catch more fish when I feel confident.

Shouldn't you be checking out a show or having a drink somewhere instead of looking at fishing posts? ;-) Just buggin ya bud! I've been bored without ya, see ya soon! PS Don't forget to kick Mickey Mouse in the shins for me.

Absitively! Posolutey! I know what that's all about. I've put my foot in my mouth a few times. My steel toed work boots don't taste so good.

Ah nuts! I totally misread the thread That was dryfly. So much for my wittyness. I'll just stick to fishing, I'm better at that than comedy.

That is very true. Tact for one person can be rude to another. Something like common sense...no one is common, we're all individuals and everyone's sense is different. Fair enough, negative stuff will be left to one on one. But I'm still not impressed with you reminding us of the longest day coming up shortly.

Great post. Nice spot you found there. Tears came to my eyes...seriously. That's what I am searching for this year. Fishing has taken a root in me the last couple years turning into an obsession...obsession for men?

Nice fish! I LOVE IT!

Oh yes I mean June 16. I always tell myself the middle of June and by default that's the 15th. Oh and just to reassure you I always check the regs before EVERY fishing day so no I've never started a day early or fished a closed stream or anything of the sort. I'm very cautious of the rules and regs, not just to keep myself from costly fines and court fees but more so for the fish and future of our sport. After all if we don't follow rules and regs ALL fisher people get a bad name and it's tough to fight for something when the public has a negative view. And yes in our fragile sport one rotten apple does spoil the bunch.

Not sure what Brent said, sounds like it was unacceptable, however, a tactful opinion does help us all in our efforts for best product/service/etc. Anyhoo...I like the new Wholesale Sports store. This next bit doesn't apply to just Wholesale Sports but rather all stores and services. I've had issues in the past with service at almost every store in Calgary but as it's already been mentioned what place do you not have issues in Calgary. Also another thing mentioned was if you treat the sales people with respect they treat you with respect. Great point Toolman. I found the key to any store is by approaching the staff yourself on YOUR initiative. Even if they seem busy and maybe even "not busy" (who are we to say they aren't) let them know you need a hand. Recently I put this to the test. Basically when I know what I want I don't need help nor do I want to be bothered, they can spend their time with people that need the help. SO, I've concluded that if you don't ask for help they may assume you don't need any. So far my test has proven 100%. As soon as you show you need a hand, you have it, and you have GREAT help. Sales people are not there to jump on us as soon as we walk in, after all we'd start to complain about that next. So in conclusion all stores have great service but due to the economy in Calgary sometimes you need to ask for it. Hope this all makes sense and can be seen as not rude or slanderous, it's meant to hopefully help us all cope well with the stores we do visit and to remember to take Toolman's advice and just be respectful, despite the service we receive. A little humility goes along way.

Oh well too late. I ended up at Sibbald Pond and got a few smal cutties. Mosquitos ate us alive! Went for anice drive again doing some exploring. Man June 15 just won't get here quick enough!

I'm going on a backcountry trip and we'll be staying at Lake Magog. I've read that there are cutthroat's in there. Anyone heard of this place or been there before? I'm looking for a few pointers before I head up. I'm going the last week of June. Wondering what gear I should take, fly patterns, etc. I'm really looking forward to it. It'll be a blast!

I've got a change of plans. I'm gonna hit the Bow Saturday ALL day from like 1 till dark. However tonight I'm gonna take the wife out. Any good suggestions on small ponds? I'm thinking Mt. Lorette Ponds myself. Just looking for other suggestions. I need a quick response, I'm outta here in about 20 minutes!

I tried that to take a picture of you and the camera wouldn't work. Oh wait, I don't think you're that pretty.

Fish Tales is good but for me Russells is closer. Never had a problem at either place.
