  1. I've used both and I don't see a significant difference. I'd be pretty sure that others have minimal differences. I do know though that some are sharper than others. I sharpen my hooks anyway so this isn't really a concern for me.
  2. Oh man that blows. At least they caught him. Unfortunately he'll be out soon doing it again.
  3. Nice report. Good to see openind day worked for some. The Highwood seems to be my "home stream". Can't wait to hit it.
  4. 40 - 50 ft? There were only 5 ft. from shore the last time I was there. Pheasant tail, griffith's gnat, and the old san juan worm worked golden. Got 13 in about an hour or so. Try it again and don't be shy to try close to shore.
  5. I've been there once before. And like the posts say it's on and off and I was definately there when it was off. Tonight will be a different story!
  6. If you're responsible great. I've seen people who aren't and they don't impress me. I think most people are familiar with the irresponsible users. ie. long weekends in K country. I've used them myself in the past and of course have been responsible, that's the key. Sounds like you're golden, hopefully others will take your example.
  7. I've read this before from other sources. Seems to be a common opinion.
  8. I was thinking we could probably fit more fishermen in the big truck than that little thing in front of it and how the heck did that little Kal Tire truck get that big truck's tire in the box?
  9. Beautiful! Do the fish have accents too?
  10. Mine looked very similar except the halos were down the exact center of the sides and they were very similar in size. Looks like it was a rainbow after all.
  11. Agreed. However there are a few streams I hear a ton about that highly recommended. Can't remember the names as I'm usually somewhere close to home taking advantage of our local streams. We sometimes take for granted what we have in our backyards. People from around the world come here to fish and we're trying to do the same. Perhaps fishing is about more than catching fish.
  12. Ah yes Athabasca. At least I wasn't dreaming. It does seem that BC fish are more colourful indeed. I love it! I agree with you fishpro there are many different appearances, I was just so amazed at these halos. I've never seen that on a rainbow and everything I read makes the remarks "absence of halos" in regard to rainbows. And then I saw the sign. I don't think it was an Athabasca rainbow out in BC but you never know. What are the chances it was a juvenile steelhead?
  13. Thanks dude! I never even thought of that. Too many hooks in the back of the head.
  14. I caught a rainbow trout last year in BC in Kikoman Creek, or at least I thought it was a rainbow. The only thing that confused me was the eveidence of halos along the side along with the pink stripe. Is there a name for this type of rainbow or is it a hybrid or something? I saw a sign at Forgetmenot Ridge in K country that said something about it, I think Assiniboine or Athabasca Rainbow? Anyone know what I'm talking about? I'll post a pic later to illustrate what I mean. Unless someone knows what I'm talking about.
  15. Yeah getting hit in the head hurts. Unfortunately I know this from experience. However I learnt very quickly the importance of balancing an outfit. I know have way too many rods and reels. Wait is that even possible?
  16. Anyone know where I can pick up a copy of the BC regs here in Calgary? The Fishin Hole was out.
  17. That is painful. Yet so exciting.
  18. I've got a 9 myself.
  19. I finally saw my first grizzly bear in the wild last Sunday June 10. It was awesome! Well I was safe in the truck so... He was on Highway 40 about 10km before the Highwood Junction closure. Fairly big bear. Anyone heading up in that area this weekend be careful, he could still be around.
  20. I'll take you up there. It's about 1 1/2 or so.
  21. OK these are bad. 1. So a seal walks into a club. 2. A horse walks into a bar and the bartender says, "Hey, why the long face?" 3. A pickle, naked chicken, and a wilderbeast walk into a bar. The bartender says to the picke, "Hey you can't have a drink." and lastly, 4. Wanna hear a dirty joke? A white horse fell in the mud.
  22. That's nuts.
  23. This is a sad story indeed and also an eye opener for us that are maybe a bit careless. Recently I was in a local store (Wholesale Sports) lilstening to this guy rant and complain how it's law and no one is gonna force him to wear a life jacket and he'll pay the fines and doesn't care and so on. I would like to see him pay the fines when he's 6 feet under. Why can't people understand safety is essential in order to make it to your next fishing trip?
