  1. I use a piranamax 150 portable (now the 230), and just use a webbing strap around the pontoon to hold the unit in place as well as the transducer, works well, even use it on my FishCat V boat. Colin
  2. Wayne's a great guy, used to hang out in the shop when I worked at the Palliser, and I was super stocked when I moved to Vancouver and they opened a shop a block away from the hotel there. Colin
  3. 3 or 4, although there are plenty coming out of China now.
  4. Pretty sure they are re-branded SA lines (maybe seconds?) Colin
  5. Definitely, but thats a whole other can of worms. No real opinion on Jets, lots of opinions on some guys who run them though. They do have their place on the river, just like the Lambo's and Ferrari's on Deerfoot. Colin
  6. Check this out, plenty of colours out there, just have to be willing to look custom. colin
  7. Hey Smitty, let me know what weights you might need and I'll see what I can come up with. Colin
  8. http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?showtopic=17400 As well Courtney will be doing private lessons, 3hours $70 12-3 on the Sunday Apr. 29th. Contact him through Nile Creek Fly Shop Colin
  9. Finger-less Fleece or wool with latex gloves underneath, dry hands are warm hands. Colin

    Popper Heads?

I use the Pee Wee pops as well, although I just realized that I only have one left, Crap!! Mike do you guys have them in the shop? Colin
  11. You can easily splice in the same guage wire to extend the cables, did it on my boat a few years ago. Princess auto has the wire as well as all the shrink tubing that you would need. Colin
  12. Much lighter in hand, very quick response time, wanna give 'er a swing? let me know. Colin
  13. XSD's are great reels, unfortunately they are being discontinued, to be replaced by the Onyx, hopefully these will be available to us very shortly. Not sure what stock Courtney has in the shop but it might be worthwhile to give him a call if you are looking for a cheap, dependable reel. Colin
  14. Not sure what the problem could be, can you tighten the drag all the way down and if so does the reel still 'free spool'. These reel do spin freely when no drag is applied, just wondering if by chance the drag knob is being turned un-noticed during your normal everyday operation of the reel (I've had it happen to me) as the star knob is quite large. If you are still having troubles, contact Courtney at The Nile Creek FlyShop it may be something he is familiar and can provide a solution.. Colin
  15. Yup definitely, almost 50 hours, sorry Lornce. And I stand corrected, it was a 4wt (I had it lined with a 5wt XS-tra distance line). 5:30 was way too early this morning. Colin
  16. You didn't look hard enough, or at least didn't ask the right guy Lornce, pretty sure we had a 5wt single and a switch at the booth, sweet rods!!. The 8wt single felt like a 5wt when I picked it up and their Switch rods were sweet little casting sticks.. Like Murray and Mike, I too grabbed a Prestige Switch (6wt), a 13'2 7wt Beulah Platinum Spey and a 10' 5wt Beulah Platinum Switch, a couple lines, new tying /reel bag and a few other nick nacks. Was definitely great seeing lots of old friends as well as making some new ones, only 362 more days til next years. Colin
  17. looks like Hare'e Wiggle Dub, Country Pleasures carries it, or perhaps any other shop that carries the Hareline Dubbin products Colin
  18. Thanks Hammie, need to use it at Spruce Meadows though, will be building the booth on site. Murray, PM sent. Thanks Guys Colin
  19. as the title says, we are looking to borrow a mitre saw for a day (26th of Jan) for construction of our booth (Ogilvie Outfitters - Nile Creek Fly Shop). If anyone can lend us one it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Colin
  20. FNG and fruinincalgary. Just name dropping Colin
  21. And they seem to think they get them over and over and over and over again. One or two runs through the same stretch is great but after the 4th or 5th time through just because you hooked one fish, come on!! Sorry, my rant for the year. Colin
  22. Always wear my Mustang inflatable life vest and for fins I use these http://www.flipfins.com/index.php?page=fin...oduct=navigator Colin
  23. Nile Creek Fly Shop (sponsor here) carries Vision, had a chance to play with some of their rods and really like them, the Cult 2 handed rods are well put together and have a very 'custom' look to them, their glass rods would make really nice small stream rods too. Reels seem well designed and rate right up there with a lot of other reels. I'm really liking their clothing line as well although I think I may be a generation or 2 late to wear some of their clothing (I think the same thing about some of Loops stuff as well). Colin
