  1. And one more
  2. Here's a para loop with deer hair:
  3. Here's one of several :
  4. Nice idea......I would consider tying this fella with maybe an underbody of holo tinsel and on a scud hook in the size 16 to 20 range.
  5. I'll be posting a few pics later today....need to process them first.
  6. Any photo editing software can down size a photo. Just changing the DPI makes the file smaller while keeping the image size. If you don't have the software you can find free software out there such as this http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/index.php
  7. With will and determination you will....in my case I was in hospital for awhile and that got me started but the urge was there for quite some time....now there is no urge at all; I can't stand the smell of the stuff anymore these days
  8. In order to combat them groups that they are against need to properly promote they activities to the same target groups that Peta focuses on. It does work and for all kinds of agendas....proof is in the events around the world.....child bombers and soldiers.......I've seen the soldier version first hand and it's a very difficult thing to see as it may become necessary to defend oneself against these children.
  9. I'm going to extend this one a few days as it seems most have been too busy this past week.
  10. Good for you ....hope you can kick it' permanently..............been almost 4 1/2 yrs for me and cold turkey as well
  11. Why wouldn't someone not try it? I have done exactly what you are thinking of and others as well, dry stones and salmonflies just to name a couple.
  12. I would not recommend buying one of those so called kits.....I find the materials inferior and useless. First try and decide what flies you would like to try and tie first; once you have decided that go to one or more of the shops...many are sponsors here and get them to help you by making suggestions pertaining to your choice of fly/flies you want to try to tie first . They will suggest what tools you need for getting started. A vice, bobbin, scissors, bodkin and whip finisher are what I would say are a bare essential minimum for tools. Over tine you'll accumulate more "toys". If you buy , buy the best quality you can afford....the adage you get what you pay for holds true in this area as it does with everything else.
  13. I agree with this for me at least.....my set up is lower than anyone else that I've seen and for a portable vise I have the adjustable post Norvise as it gives me added flexiblity as to height. For a chair I use a backed bar stool as most chairs will have me sitting too low.
  14. I have tried a damsel fly with a stir stick for a body but didn't like the results.
  15. Another thing to consider is season......streamers basically imitate a baitfish so think about size just as you would pick a size of nymph ...the large specimens are usually found in the early spring and as the season turns to summer the size generally gets smaller ( new hatch)
  16. When I tie them it is based on the hook style I'm using.......shank length will dictate the total length of the fly I will finish with. Remember that streamer hooks can run from 2x to 10 x or longer in length. In my opinion there is not set answer to your question as the variables create enough options to make what works for one species or condition to be not work for another.
  17. You can also sub porcupine quills or porcupine guard hair dipped a couple of times in soft body for tails and porcupine guard hairs for antannae
  18. I have passed on all the info gathered here on to our client and it's up to them what they do. If anyone still has any other info that could be useful feel free to let me know. Thanks
  19. What format does it transfer to? I have talk to our client and they have informed me that the software they use to extract requires .mov, .avi, mpeg The catch is the format it transfer to
  20. Thanks I will do that.
  21. Thanks Weedy I'll pass this on as our client
  22. I believe it is VHS....the client has the software to extract stills from the video as long as it's readable on a computer
  23. A you tube search will keep you in days worth of video
  24. Anyone know of anyone that transfers video to disc that is readable by computer for the purpose of extracting still images for the video footage. We have a client that requires the use of such a service but this is not our area of expertise or knowledge. Any help greatly appreciated.
