  1. Something else that might be of interest that I've used before is quick descent dubbing; it's a dubbing of metal shavings in a variety of colours. Hareline has it and Superfly carries a similar dubbing that I can't recall the name of. Darren should know as I got a sample from him a couple of years ago while he was at Superfly. Unfortunately their site is down for updating at the moment.
  2. This is all fine but is useless the judges handing out the penalties are serious enough to go to the full extent of there powers, just look at the street criminals that get arrested and are out within hours of their arrest. In these cases more police or CO's doesn't do much.
  3. It's been covered before http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?showtopic=6819
  4. Video http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/ho...fishing-178198/
  5. Try this: http://www.flyfisherman.com/ftb/chdeerhair/
  6. Another option is to tie in booby eyes, very light and could actually add a form of neutral buoyancy.
  7. There are aluminum eyes available, Iuse them on metal tube flies sometimes. You can make your own with mono; larger ones can be made weith multiple strands of mono, Randy Diefert showed me how to make them using raffia which was neat and different. Glass beads looped from the ends of a length of mono can works as well.
  8. Plans? two words Atlantic Salmon
  9. The only undesirable fish in my mind is a dead fish that is wasted, simple as that. All fish have their merits otherwises they wouldn't exist.
  10. Yes it's a peacock cosseboom......now that I look at it the tinsel is too far up the body.....this one is a size 6 but I have a couple of really nice ones in 2/0 which may seem big but they work non the less
  11. I heard that same thing from a few others about last year as well, I can't say first hand as I haven't really fished there much prior to last year but from my own perspective last summer was pretty good......seen lots of fish Here's another pattern we did well with as well last year
  12. Most of the patterns I've come across call for the black collar but one calls for the collar tied as a throat. A search for pics actually turned up a more assorted bunch of flies. I started with what appeared to come across as the "original" standard, tied that and then played with the colour a bit. I did well with this fly last summer.
  13. Almost all refs I found on it has the hackle collar and personally I like it on the fly. I only know it as the Humber Magic and you got it right. I did a few colour variations that I want to try this year. One has a blue guinea collar and another has a chartruese collar.
  14. Which one is it?
  15. too funny but not right answer
  16. Of course you can
  17. We're looking to do a kitchen upgrade and looking for a cabinet installer. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks
  18. I did a set of Dutot blue charms for a swap and while I was doing those I tied some variations of the pattern for use this coming summer. The second has a schalppen collar and the first is tied on a low water double hook.
  19. Nope I didn't think it would be this hard...a hint it's named after a river
  20. You can tie almost anything with it.......is there a lot of webby hackle in it?
  21. Standard yes, common that depends where you are.
  22. No one got it yet but Rick that's a good one LOL
  23. This is a standard pattern , can you name it?
  24. Unless I'm tying them for someone else, I almost never use beads and if I do it most likely will betied using glass beads. Bead heads tend to dive unnaturally I find and not great for swimming. Just becauseI don't use beads often doesn't mean I don't weight my flies
  25. I honestly believe that you can't start them to young.....we have a couple of young fellas on the board here that tie well for their ages and from what I've seen if they keep at it they'll develop into excellent tyers in the future. Good start there Meagan, those will definately catch something......
