  1. Sabic Polymer Shapes also carries it and is generally cheaper that IPP, but you may have to buy a full sheet.
  2. As a guy who is in the middle of building his second boat I would not walk, but run from this project. Here's a couple of problems is see based on the pictures. - That's not marine plywood, which means the glue that holds the plys together may fail if it gets wet. Even if you encapsulate the boat with fiberglass, which you have to do, water will get in there. - Those large joints on the side don't appear to be proper scarph joints, and the way that they are bent around the ribs looks like a failure point to me. There should be no sharp angles if they are done correctly. - The ribs and rear transom appear to be made of pine. Pine wont last in a drift boat. Rot city. - Sides look to be 1/2" plywood. That is going to be one heavy boat by the time you add glass and epoxy, not to mention seats and the interior. $800 might be an okay price for the trailer, but there is only $100 worth of wood there. If your serious about building a boat, start with the proper materials unless you want a disposable boat. Just my $0.02 Andrew
  3. I bought this phone and can say it is my favorite phone I've owned. I've owned them all from iPhone, galaxy etc and the Sony wins hands down. I liked the Xperia phone I bought the 10.1" tablet too. Although it seems over priced I'm very happy with it too. If you do get this phone get the magnetic charger http://www.amazon.ca/Patec%C2%AE-Replacement-Magnet-Charging-Xperia/dp/B00IRZ3T6M/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1398215922&sr=8-12&keywords=xperia+z1+magnetic+charger It saves you from having to open the door to charge it Although other phones have NFC, it is pretty cool. 4. Without get too much into it, things like this fall under the Municipal Government Act which gives Municipalities the right to govern area beyond what federal laws are in place. taken from the MGA http://www.qp.alberta.ca/documents/acts/m26.pdf Bylaws Division 1 General Jurisdiction General jurisdiction to pass bylaws 7 A council may pass bylaws for municipal purposes respecting the following matters: (a) the safety, health and welfare of people and the protection of people and property; ( people, activities and things in, on or near a public place or place that is open to the public; © nuisances, including unsightly property; RSA 2000 Section 8 Chapter M-26 35 MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT ACT (d) transport and transportation systems; (e) businesses, business activities and persons engaged in business; (f) services provided by or on behalf of the municipality; (g) public utilities; (h) wild and domestic animals and activities in relation to them; (i) the enforcement of bylaws made under this or any other enactment, including any or all of the following: (i) the creation of offences; (ii) for each offence, imposing a fine not exceeding $10 000 or imprisonment for not more than one year, or both; (iii) providing for the imposition of a penalty for an offence that is in addition to a fine or imprisonment so long as the penalty relates to a fee, cost, rate, toll or charge that is associated with the conduct that gives rise to the offence; (iv) providing that a specified penalty prescribed under section 44 of the Provincial Offences Procedure Act is reduced by a specified amount if the penalty is paid within a specified time; (v) providing for imprisonment for not more than one year for non-payment of a fine or penalty; (vi) providing that a person who contravenes a bylaw may pay an amount established by bylaw and if the amount is paid, the person will not be prosecuted for the contravention; (vii) providing for inspections to determine if bylaws are being complied with; (viii) remedying contraventions of bylaws. 1994 cM-26.1 s7
  5. I'm wondering if anyone is going to be in Edmonton in the next little while and would be able to bring back some marine plywood for me. The suppliers in Calgary are not able to get their poop in a group, and cant provide what I need. It would consist of 2 sheets, of quarter inch ply, ripped to 2'x8' panels. They will be bought & paid for, but would need to be picked up at Boatcraft (6316 - 106 Street, Edmonton). I can pick them up from you once you get back to Calgary Of course compensation of some type will be offered, whether it be beer, booze or cash. If anyone can help me out, please shoot me a PM. Cheers, Andrew
  6. Rubber legs also make a nice replacement if you are wanting some movement. Not my fly, pic for reference.
  7. You might want to look into the City, or not for profit sector. My experience has been that these sectors are filled with inexperienced people who cut their teeth there and take off. Such places may welcome an experienced employee with some real world skills. A
  8. Muffin is correct. At this time of year they take off from their ponds as they dry up. In my previous job as an entomologist would get call all the time about them. People would even bring them to the police thinking they were invading the city. A

  11. In my biologist opinion the Sapro "event" of recent has several causes, some of which have been mentioned, but like so make things it is probably a culmination of many factors. To me the biggest factor would have to be the low water levels which results in the following: Higher water temps result in lower dissolved oxygen content in the water. This results in both greater stress in fish, reducing their natural ability to ward off the infection. Heat and low oxygen levels also favour fungal diseases like Sapro Low water forces the fishes together into areas, increasing transmission among fish. As Browns went into the spawn, they get rammy and territorial and can spread the fungus through fighting or mating. Mating also takes a toll on fish, lowering their immune system through competition for reddds and not eating while on redds, making it easier for the fungus to infect the fish. I have no doubt that greater handling of fish, poor fish handling techniques and many other things didnt help. I dont think this one event could decimate the Bow of Browns, but should serve as a reminder to us all to be stewards of what keeps us coming there, the fish. Andrew
  12. Hardy Ultralight. I have owned these and some TFO reels, including the BVK reel and the Ultralight outshines them by a mile in my opinion. A
  13. Sick Mike. What did you build the oar lock blocks out of? UHMW or something? Andrew
  14. My wife is wanting one of these, and apparently there is a SUP club in Calgary and they do use the river sometimes. Personally, I don't think it would be easy to fish from in the river, but they would work for getting from spot to spot, especially in the City where the river is flatter and has less rapids. Imagine catching a fish, trying to paddle, stay upright, avoid upcoming obstacles, and land the fish. I find this to be tricky enough with 2 guys in a drift boat. On a side note I have fished the Flaming Gorge on the Green River where they shot this video, and I would like to see him going through some of the larger rapids they have. A
  15. Looking great man. I may be talking to you more about some of your S&G techniques you used. You have prompted me to reconsider my skiff as a framed boat. I have a ribbed boat now and i think a skiff would perform better without ribs. Andrew
