  1. Congrats on the good day, some nice fish there.
  2. Haha, but boy would the video be great of it smashing you in the back of the head.
  3. Hey everyone, I saw this today and thought some people may find it interesting: http://uncrate.com/stuff/strike-cam-underwater-fishing-camera/?utm_source=Uncrate&utm_campaign=2751184959-UNCRAT_RSS&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e896b3ec40-2751184959-405600417 Looks pretty big to attach while fly fishing but still a pretty cool idea.
  4. Your office has Guiness I need a new job.
  5. That is pretty cool.
  6. Sometimes I like to use my fly rod like a fencing sword and see how many points I can get on the bear. The problem I have found is that the bear apparently doesn't keep a points system, more of a plays for keeps.
  7. Good tip on the light George and funny for the rest of it.
  8. Thanks Hawg that is great to know.
  9. That is a pretty creepy/scary story. Thanks for the heads up/sharing.
  10. Hello everyone I am on the Bow River Troutfitters email list and I got this email today regarding fish handling techniques. I know this can be a very sensitive subject and not looking to start a firestorm here or anything but I felt most of the tips are pretty valid and reasonable. At a minimum worth a read and something to think about. http://www.bowrivertroutfitters.com/index.php?mact=News,cntnt01,detail,0&cntnt01articleid=56&cntnt01returnid=21 Cheers, Russell
  11. Fish I would recommend trying to get some fish on board, or at least to the net.
  12. I don't know I do extreme fishing so not sure mountain biking or skiing would rival it. You should see my front slip casting technique, very unique.
  13. Great discussion everyone. This is something I have been toying around with lately too. I just recently came into a 4wt rod and also have a 6wt rod. I was sort of leaning towards the 8 for now. As time grows the desire to pick up a 5 and 7 may arise, but for now I am leaning towards an 8wt. I do currently have a 6wt 9'6" fast action SageXP so I find it is adequate to throw most things I use on the bow. Double streamer rigs are a little ugly and I have to duck occasionally.
  14. Another new camera to the group: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1042475-REG/olympus_v104140bu000_stylus_tough_tg_3_digital.html
  15. Haha I need to buy one.

    3Wt Reel?

I just bought a 4wt rod and I am planning to put a Galvan Brook trout reel on it.
  17. Red I think in a lot of situations you could go a bit bigger as long as you have the clearance in your wheel well. I would imagine with the amount of 4runners on the road there are a lot of people who might have experience with that. That being said when you start altering tire sizes I would imagine if could have some changes on handling and smoothness of ride.
  18. I personally run a set of Toyo Open Country AT and love them. Good traction in the back country and a pretty smooth ride on the highway. Currently on a 2006 Nissan Xterra off-road and have 50,000 kms on them with a good amount of tread left. I did go with a 10 ply tire so a thicker rubber.
  19. Great looking fish Hawg. I can only imagine seeing those tanks going after a mouse pattern that would be one heck of an experience.
  20. I live pretty far south in New Brighton just North of Highway 22x/Stoney Trail. The commute to downtown can be a bugger sometimes. For fishing though it is great I am on Deerfoot and out very quickly roughly 1.5 - 2 hours to the Crow, Oldman, livingstone etc. Also can hit up the bow very easily.
  21. Haha and come up with a clever name for it?
  22. I would imagine that catches some fish. I really like the looks of that. Let me know how it turns out.
  23. I need more buddies like that aaa.
  24. Congrats on getting out of debt. I would look at spending some on a trip, single and some money always good to do a trip. I just visited Australia for a month recently and even though I went a little over budget, it was worth it. In your situation, though might I recommend a trip roughly ~$2500-3000 then spend the rest on toys here. New Tv, fly rod etc. I think you can do Southeast Asia for not a crazy sum of money. Australia is expensive both to get to and to travel. If you choose Australia I would be glad to give you a few ideas or things I learned.
  25. Wow that is a hell of a fish.
