Toolman I know what you mean certain things will be judgeable. It sounds like fun I would just say its likely best if kept relatively simple and fun.......it sounded kinda hardcore at first

realistically if I think a day with demos by an experienced caster of all those things and maybe a few small competitons covering accuracy at distance's and a straight distance comp would be feasible..... If you wanted a competiton (and a decent one) for all those things in 1 day I would love to see the logistics not just for time but judging as well. I'm not sure its even healthy to judge peoples fishing techniques...... if you wanna do that make it a 1 day fishing event and let the fish be the judge. Distance and accuracy are 2 measurable challenges and I think thats the reason you are more likely to see contests for them then you are to see contests for upstream nymphing the best judge of technique is gonna be the fish..... I don't mean to be negative at all.... just my opinion

I have to say that weedy's is the cats ass....... even without any more edits it would an amazing logo at would rank right up there with the coolest fishing logos I have seen. My second favorite is lundvikes with SJWs' fly.......

I see the points being made..... whats the protocol in places like montana and some other big fishing destinations? How do they regulate their guides while still providing equality on the river ect ect. I say if there is a really good system somewhere we should adapt such a system to Alberta...... Unfortunately I have little experience with guiding practices in other places.

Now I am actually kinda wondering what we are talkin about........ is this about a guiding license or a business license? I do feel that they should have to have a business license or more importantly pay taxes on the money earned...... just like any other income........

I think Glen should be licenced just like any other large pet...... JK buddy (but seriously tell the GF to get you fixed atleast) I gotta say I feel about the same way as Glen. I don't feel that licensing is the issue, but we should have better monitoring all users of the fisheries. If a guide guides fine..... but he should get hammered (so should everyone) for any regulation infractions. If a guide is obeying the regs what harm is he doing...... But that said a licensing system would be ok if it was not exclusive as I feel all Alberta guides should have even opportunity to guide on Albertas waters..... If some guide or company can monopolize the guiding rights to a water then its unfair to other guides. Thats to do with the whole rod days thing.... but honestly I am not completely familiar with the system so maybe I should not comment on it. I would kinda like it if only holders of an Alberta residents fishing license were allowed to guide on Albertas waters for money. But maybe thats unfair.... i dunno
