  4. Wow. You held your composure there pretty well. Can't say I would have stayed so calm. Thanks for making sure this guy was fined. He should have his license suspended imo (If he he even had one)

Apologies for the short tempered edit of my original post. It was not any comment on the thread that led to the edit, it was a few PM's from some gentlemen that are old enough that they should know how to better approach a situation without involving threats and name calling. I did not blur the background, however I did not hotspot any of this "secret" stretch of river. As far as I'm concerned if you are able to tell where I was from the trees in the background, then you have put in your time and deserve to know. There were no GPS coordinates, type of fly or time of day included in the post. I simply stated I loved cutty fishing in AB. When I return to town at the end of the week I will repost the pics for those who will enjoy and not ridicule. Again, apologies for my short temper and instant deletion. Is not the first time I've been called out for hot spotting because I didn't blur out some trees.

Hmm guess I wont be posting anymore pics here on this site. Didn't realise fishing for trout was such a big secret. Can delete admin.

  11. Hey guys, Going on a trip of a lifetime to NZ on a holiday working visa leaving November 9th. One way ticket landing in Wellington but after that I have no set plans! Im wondering if anyone has been over there before for fishing and has any tips or suggestions on where I should set up home and find a job to be close to some great fishing. Been doing some research online and have an idea where I want to go, just looking for others input who may have some experience. Thanks guys!
  12. Acquaintance of mine on FB posted these pics as well as others a few days ago from the Coal Camp road west of Sundre AB. Fishing out of the Red Deer, these look to me to be bull trout that are being improperly handled. I left a comment on her account informing her of the 0 limit of bull trout and to be sure to check the regs before fishing and the pictures have since been removed. Debating contacting Alberta Fish & Wildlife to further investigate. After years of practicing catch and release, following regs, purchasing licenses etc, seeing these made me quite angry. Maybe i am over reacting? Thoughts?
  13. ^^ This book helped me tremendously when i first started out. If you ever want to get out shoot me a PM.
  14. Recently went camping with my brother and he had one of these things. I was pretty skeptical at first, but I have to say it worked amazingly. Before it was on the mosquito's were pretty awful. Five minutes with the thermacell on and they were gone for the rest of the evening. Maybe it was coincidence, have only seen one being used once. Not sure how they work in the wind. I bought one the next day although havent had a chance to use it yet. You can buy a belt attachment for it also. http://www.basspro.com/Clip-On-Holster-for-ThermaCELL-Mosquito-Repellent-Unit/product/10225751/?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT
  15. Thinking about picking up a small camper (a Boler) for just myself for doing some camping/fishing this summer. I'd be going down a lot of gravel roads and I'm wondering what people use to protect their campers and truck. Spray on rock protector doesnt really appeal to me either. The Boler i'm looking at has been completely re-done, has a nice paint job I would like to keep all shiny. Have searched the internet for a while now and read some bad reviews on the hitch mounted rock guards (both the oversize mudflaps and the horse hair styles) apparently they don't do a very good job. Thought about building a custom screen type out of 1/2'' square tubing and welding something up but the actual trailer for the Boler is quite small leaving nothing really to attach it to. Anyone have any ideas?
  16. Thanks for the input! I visited Australia when i was 18 for a month and had a blast, I'd love to go back but I feel I've already been there done that trip. I've narrowed it down to a fishing trip somewhere next December to say Cuba or Costa Rica, or a used drift boat w/trailer. Problem with the boat is I have no experience with that at all. Guess I'd have to convince some people willing to come with and educate me this summer. Anything left over I've decided to help some family out that are in some tough situations financially. Thanks again for the suggestions, I probably never would of thought of a boat .. Brian, 4k is what i will have left over after paying the rest of my truck off by my birthday. And yes we have job openings all the time! If you are willing to be a pipefitter or welder and work out of town for weeks at a time in ball shriveling -30 for 12 hour shifts....
  17. So, after a long and harsh (and enlightening) period of my life, I will be out of debt, completely 100% debt free. On my birthday none the less! I'm single, fairly young with no kids. I've decided to throw myself a " I'm out of debt, lets blow a paycheck party ".. I have 4K to spend on whatever I want, guilt free. Being a lifetime Leafs fan and never being to Toronto deciding between a trip to Toronto for 4 days to see two Leaf games ( vs Bruins and Jets), or on material things. Big TV, surround sound, new fly rod, etc..Maybe Vegas? Maybe a trip overseas? Looking for some ideas !! Also please do not suggest investing the money, its time to have a little fun after saving for so very very long.
