Due to some unforseen circumstances last year we ended up having to sell our tow vehicle for our travel trailer. I was thinking I'd try and borrow friends or family trucks in the meantime for our few camping trips during the summer. But then I was reading on rv.net and some guys mentioned just renting a truck for the weekend and using it to tow. Great idea! I thought..
However, just the other day a friend told my wife that they tried to do this exact thing and were unable to find a place that rented trucks that had hitches installed. After getting turned down a number of times, someone finally told them (not sure who) that it was illegal? in Alberta to rent a truck with a hitch. I'm assuming that if this is the case, that it must have to do with liability issues or something.. with the amount of yahoos that are on the roads these days.
Does anyone have any insight on this? Can you confirm or deny that this is the case?
