Sun, are you referring to the Arctic Oscillation (AO), or the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO)? I am a bit confused.

The Camera Store is okay. I've warrantied a lens through them and the service was relatively fast. They tried to sell me a used printer though that was marked as new and wouldn't have been refunded post-purchase. If I hadn't opened the box before buying it I would have been screwed and they didn't apologize for the screw up. I didn't feel to good about that. The staff are reasonably knowledgeable but I've found that there isn't much you can't just learn on the internet. So now I just do my research and find the best price.

Eddie Bauer has a line called First Ascent that seems to be reasonably good stuff for a reasonably good price. They have a $20 off sale right now on all their rain jackets, and also have a few of last year's models in the clearance section of their site. I've never tried any of their stuff, but the specs are decent for the price. The BC-200 jacket has good specs at $179.

Hi everyone, our basement flooded about 5 weeks ago and I only just yesterday had a look at my tying materials that had been sitting on the floor at the time of the flood. Although they were in ziploc bags, water managed to get into my two dry fly capes - a Howard Hackle brown cape and a Whitings half saddle. The cardboard backing was saturated and mold formed on both. I'm trying to decide if I should replace them or not. Could the feathers have degraded during the time since the flood, because the feathers don't degrade when you fish flies that use them (or do they?). I might replace them anyway because of the mold issue, but I was just curious if the feathers themselves might actually be compromised.

the TFO 7'6" 3wt in either a 2pc or a 4pc would be worth checking out.

I like the looks of that 50-135 compared to the 60-250. But it depends on what you plan to use it for ...

First off, I don't have any experience with Tamron lenses. However, I do own a lot of lenses, a few of which are third party like Tamron. It's my experience that if you buy a lens because it looks comparable to the camera brand's own model with similar specs but at 1/2 or 2/3 the price, you'll end up disappointed. You're just going to end up wishing you'd saved the money you spent on the third party lens and instead put it into the top of the line lens. Unfortunately, my experience is only with Nikon vs. third party lenses, and so I can't speak for the quality of Pentax lenses. Basically I'm not really much help at all. But that's my two cents. I will buy nothing but Nikon glass for my Nikon body from now on, for what it's worth.

Outdoor and action sport photography. I used to shoot for a living but now that I'm in university I just shoot for fun and/or when I get a chance, which is pretty rarely. Here's a recent shot from Johnston Canyon last week.

The TFO Finesse 7'3" 2wt or Series 1 6' 2wt (2pc) are other options.

I'll put in another vote for slit foam. Springbrook also makes them in a couple of styles and a variety of sizes.

Just wanted to give everyone the heads up on this. It retails for around $100. The drag is plenty good enough for the Bow but I might think twice about it for steelheading. It would be a great back up reel or primary reel for someone on a budget.

That panorama worked out really, really well.

Hey Bandee, Thanks for the comments! I made my own tilt/shift lens and use it on my DSLR. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not it works for fishing photos or not. I like it, but I'm interested in what the general fishing public thinks of the effect. I used to have a website, but since I no longer shoot on a semi-pro level I decided earlier this year to take it down. I find that it's too much hassle to pull the camera out for fish pics Cheers Erik
