Hey, With upcoming arrival of spring and with a larger influx of speycasters on the water, I have a question to what people would perceive as good etiquette on the Bow river when speycasters and drift boats cross paths. Obviously, the double handed rods will allow the walk and waders to cover greater distances with their casts and some stretches on the river may not be suitable to accomodate both speycaster and drift boat. So what would constitute good etiquette in the minds of a speycaster when a drift boat floats through? Personally, as I do both on the river, as a speycaster I would stop fishing to let the boat carry on through and resume fishing when it has gone out of my range. However, if the boat stops in the area that I can cover, then I will resume fishing right away and share the hole. As a drift boater, I will try my best to get to the other side of the river and try to stay out of the range of the speycaster. However, this isn't alway feasible in some areas or if there are other fishermen on the other side of the river. Or say at the stretch of islands above the Deerfoot trail extension where the speycaster could cast across over halfway to the islands making it difficult for any sort of passage of watercraft. What are some other opinions out there?

Interesting question, what would be the possibilities that the wet surface of the fishes body would stick to the ice regardless of the time that it spent on the ice?

I really like the Fishpond products, I currently use the Double Haul Chest pack and the Shooting Star. They are comfortable, can fit a lot and use the chest pack by itself for the hotter days.

Hawstoppah, I am more interested in what you propose. I would be interested in a summer weekend of getting together, meeting new people and a little fun. It will give me a good excuse to get the trailer out, spend the weekend with my family and to fish. The Windham/Carseland campground would be a great choice, as would Nature's Hideaway, or maybe a campsite on the Oldman later in the season. Whatever, you guys decide what is going on, present the details and I will make my decision at that point of time.

When I worked at Hanson's I had the pleasure of meeting several interesting people who wandered into the shop while they were staying at the Pallisor hotel Tom Selleck was a frequent shopper when he was in town, George Bush Sr. came in with his whole entourage of security when he was up here to float the bow with another guide (and Peter Pocklington) John Goodman and John Cusack meandered into the shop. Met Andy Garcia when one of the guides for Hanson's took him out for an afternoon and I guided Robert Duval for a great afternoon. Man, he had some stories.............

Thank you , I have been looking for one of the Pink Sages since last February. I bought the Pink Islander for my wife for a wedding gift. For those who don't know, both Sage and Islander created the Pink Series Rods and Reels to show support for Breast Cancer research. Proceeds of the original sale went to the Breast Cancer Foundation. Now Ross reels have followed suit. There were only a limited amount made and sold, so this seller is trying to capitilize on the collectability of the rod.

You can have flyfishing opportunities for Dorado, Sailfish, and Rooster fish down there. You can find some Rooster fish tailing from the shore, fishtales has a intense 15 minute DVD of some guys fishing for the Rooster fish. The remainder can be caught from the boat.

That is very true, once the remaining stuff goes into the catacombs called the Ribtor Warehouse it will be lost forever unless it is goods from the Hardware department. I will miss going into Ribtor, I had worked there for 4 years back in the mid 90's. It was a fun place to work with a lot of neat interesting things up on the third and fourth floor until inventory time. It was a fantastic year for me Got out fishing a total of 6 times (significantly down from my 200+ days a few years ago) Caught a beautiful wife this summer, with two great young gentlemen for stepsons, who love to fish............... and are eager to learn And just as important as the addition of the new family, I have finally gone a year Cancer free............. Didn't bother to count the amount of fish I caught as it is not about the fish, but getting out.
