All this moaning about bad reffing and the no calls going to the fLAMES, but I do seem to recall that the Blue Jackets had TWO goals called back due to penalties being called to them vs. the fLAMES. This was the first game the fLAMES played them where they lost 2-1 to the Jackets in Columbus. It seems to me that the fans have short term memory loss. fLAMES lost that game because they couldn't score. Period.

Yeah, I agree Brad, Huh? lol I do believe Edmonton is currently on a four game win streak and just finished a three game home stand going 3-0. But they aren't winning games......

That game was SICK. Awesome to watch (aside from the 20 minutes going from halfway through the first to halfway through the second), especially that Hemsky, Penner, Gagner line! Those guys were the only ones who showed up tonight. Even early on they were creating chances when the Blue Jackets were controlling the game. Nash was invisible against the top line tonight, and that is a great thing to see! Looking forward to the BOA on Saturday boy!

As far as I know, all Ref's in all sports can and do dictate the flow of a game/event. Every ref has the right to determine what is and what isn't a penalty based on what they see during the play at the time. I can't imagine that a ref in any sport, professional or otherwise, would neglect to make a call because the play was just too damn exciting and he didn't want to upset the flow of the game. My two cents.

And what a game to watch! Strong, solid effort. Each line contributing, and demolished a team that has been tough against the Oilers for the last four seasons. Great 60 minute game. Unlike the brethren to the south....

My opinion on Schremp is that he had a chance with a clean slate to finally make the club. Others competing for a roster spot did a better job. Good luck to him as far as I'm concerned.

It was an unfortunate play. Quinn deserved to be fined, but he was still right.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Calgary just replace the Head Coach? Edmonton replaced the head coach, assistant coaches, and hell, even the goalie coach! I'm not sure if that amounts to a hill of beans, but the fact remains, Calgary was out played in thier first two games and won due solely to shoddy goaltending on Luongo's and Khabibulin's part. Hell, even the Canadiens had thier back up in net vs. them last night. However, last nights game was a better game by the fLAMES and it showed. Even if two of thier goals were wild bounces. I guess Sutter's coaching strategy is fire the puck and see what happens! Regardless, this is an OILERS thread, so maybe I should talk about them now. From what I could tell and what I saw/heard, the team played great again last night. Actually out hit the Stars 24-14 or something like that. I actually can't remember the last time the Oilers did that! Add that to the fact that they fought back from 2-1, 3-2, and 4-3 defecits to win in the SO shows that they have no quit in them this year and don't roll over and die when a bad goal goes in the net on them. Only two games into this young season and I am looking forward to an improving team as the season goes along. GO OILERS!

I signed up for Fly Fusion at the Fly Fishing show in Jauary. I have nothing to complain about in the quality of the magazine, or the subjects it covers. I tend to gloss over the stuff about fly tying as I don't currently do it, so my interest there is minimal. I do really enjoy the local content of the magazine. It's comforting to know that I am supporting a local publication and it is also nice to know that a magazine of that quality comes from Calgary. I've read Canadian Fly Fisher and some other rag my wife bought for me one day. But they didn't really interest me at all.

What kind of fish are we talking about here zed? Some people say that the best way to handle a large pike is by gilling it, but for a trout, its pretty much murder. From what I hear.
