  1. The Oldman is not closed (edit - above 22). I think a bit short sighted (seems all the places that did not shut are the few last spots with Purebred Westslopes) but oh well.
  2. Finally updated their map.. http://mywildalberta.com/Fishing/documents/PDF-MWA-SouthernAlbertamap-2015.pdf
  3. Kind of funny to see the comparison of a bylaw to a provincial offence and/or federal fisheries act offence
  4. A real shame that the entire oldman and crowsnest didn't get shut. Going to be quite the weekend for those poor trout
  5. They're still closed. Just expanded closure (bout time)
  6. so 0 dollars for everyone but Uber?
  7. I suspect you'll see more closures by next week
  8. I wasn't fishing, but the oldman last week at 22 was quite toasty on the way through (was letting the dog go for a dip)
  9. Should probably think about what you're going to end up doing if your booking currently and the rivers continue to be shut
  10. The signs at glenmore are a bit pathetic, not noticeable unless you're looking for them
  11. Toolman, is that a P. Biol designation I see behind your name? Figures. Ever wonder if that attitude is what makes it just so challenging to do a closure like this. You're right, we haven't seen a massive kill... Would you prefer for it to happen, then complain about how no one did anything? Curious when you saw lower and warmer flows in the first week of August
  12. Logic would be a great defense, but how well has that worked for the southern streams and ATV use, logging, etc
  13. Was away last week during the big winds, but did have a friend checking in on our place. Was up on our roof yesterday, and the eavestroughs were full of asphalt bits from the shingles and some of the shingles are looking a little beat up. We had intense winds and some hail (Deer Ridge area). It is an older roof, but this was a lot more then last year, so not sure if this is just wear or what. Is this something I should be calling my insurance about and having them come out and look at it, or a contractor for a quote first? Thanks!
  14. I'm sure you'll get lots of people saying they won't go, but those places will be a zoo this weekend. I kind of suspect that the only reason they're not closed, is that AEP didn't/doesn't have the data in place (temp. loggers, etc) in time to do it in a defendable manner.
  15. Think it's hard to say that this is due to a new government, since it's the first time it's ever happened, due to weather conditions. Is this cause of the NDP? Maybe.. I feel like its the same people under a different department name, who were getting a bit more pressure from the outside to do something, and they did. Probably needs to go a hell of a lot further then what they've done so far...
  16. So weird that it seems the list changed already. No mention of Gorge or Threepoint anymore, and no more 'tributaries' when it comes to the Sheep or Highwood. Seriously confusing
  17. Absolutely. Should have closed all flowing water in ES1 and ES2, and make exceptions to it if needed (as the way BC has done it).
  18. Ouch. I feel terrible for the Oldman and tribs...Crowsnest was 20 degrees last week... yikes
  19. To note, the navigable waters act (NPA now) does not enact the fisheries act at all due to navigability...
  20. http://www.academia.edu/761677/Validation_of_morphological_characteristics_used_for_field_identification_of_bull_trout_x_brook_trout_hybrids It's all about the spotting on the dorsal.. This study was on Quirk Creek so pretty close to home
  21. Now I know where you've been fishing
  22. If gets convicted, Troutpanther *should* get a call about how much it was. Last ones that I called in was $4500 in fines (and got a $400 reward)
  23. I'll just quote that and leave it there for ya...
  24. bigfry, I doubt they feel that salvaging is required under their mandate. They're search and rescue, not search and salvage. Would be a different story if someone was trapped in the boat.
  25. Guess it's feels a bit overzealous. It sucks that you sunk your boat, but it's rare to get one sunk per year. Only one last year was cause the guy was drunk and smoked the berm at Police. Before that, it had been years between them. Im sure in the case that it does happen, the forum will step up, as they did for you.
