  1. here you then Toolman http://cgi.ebay.ca/Loop-Opti-ZPEY-13-9-4-p...id=p3286.c0.m14
  2. You are correct Toolman they come with no warranty at all. But they are pretty cheap on ebay, direct from Loop. I don't think I'll take the risk on such a radical rod design that gets little media coverage. My research on the Zpey hasn't been as positive as the TFOs.
  3. Hey guys what about the Loop Opti ZPEY, I know they look goofy but they are a steal right now directly from LOOP. Is it just a gimick I don't need

    Chummin

Nice work Rusty glad you guys got into some fish it's a great time out there eh? It's funny out in the lower mainland chum are the bane of the fisherman's life, we head out there and can't catch enough of them. I think we should start refering to them with their yankee name, Calicos. It sounds so much more classy. You guys fish the sturgeon by the ferry in the tidal waters?
  5. Hey guys I have another trip planned and there is no point going unless I am going to be fishing. I am headed to the west coast of Costa Rica, more specificly St. Teresa, Mal Pais. I will be there from Dec 11-24. What should I fish with and for. I don't want to be deep sea fishing, I have spent tonnes of times in boats in the Pacific. If anyone could give me an idea or two it would be peachy. Thanks
  6. I can't wait to fight a bear, I've only had one bear issue and that was in the 90's on the upper chehalis.... maybe I smell bad
  7. Sure was Jer, here's a pic of 420's first Bull
  8. so I said there were more coming and here they are. I was really surprised with the fish activity as I checked the water and it was hovering around 3C all day. Me with my first bull of the day 420 with his second whitefish... The perfect type of spot to fall in Little bull trout Nice little section of river
  9. Here's whitey close ups more to come photobucket is slow as ass right now
  10. Here's 420 with his first fish, It's a bunch of pics but the sequence is cool. I let the pics speak for me.
  11. So 420 and I headed out to foothills today. We started the day with me landing a little cutty. I walked out of the hole 420 lands a good size white fish. We walked a lot of water, sight fished for some cuttys and whitefish with not much action, arrived at our head back point to fish for a while, I had 2 break offs and 420 had one. We had several hooks but nothing to hand. We headed to an area we had seen fish in from the cliff top earlier. I counted 24 fish in the hole. We set up some nymph rigs, all of our fish were on nymphs today, we had been toss screamers on the way down. Couple casts later I landed an nice little bull trout, I was pumped. When i was landing the fish another bull was trying to snap up my dropper it was crazy funny to see. 420 was next up at bat and 2 casts later....another whitefish. We decide not to spook all the fish and we had luckily landed fish off the sides of where they we all laying. So we set up a fire and ate some food, kicked and got back into the hole. I was up and boom another bull, 420 hopped in and low and behold another white fish. We looked at each other and laughed we could see all the fish that were stacked in there but we wanted to keep fishing down stream. This was only my second time here and 420's first. We decided to fish the hole for a few more fish and then bounce out. I was to bat and I guess god left her cookie cutter in this hole but another bull. I look at 420 and say "jer look, there's a pig of a white fish it's all yours" he grunted a curse as walked up. I am happy to say 420's last fish in the hole was his first bull. Pretty cool I think both of our first bulls landed in the same river. enjoy the pics I'm looking for whitefish, I saw a few caught in this hole last time, we call the hole the "feet." Looking down on 420, trying to get him into some fish I have spotted Me with my first fish of the day... Cuttys
  12. no biggy.... I have seen your bull pics from the ice fishing as 420, Dekkard and myself are planning on going this winter, we'll all have to meet up.... we'll bring the buns you bring the dogs haha
  13. those pics aren't of 420 they are of Dekkard
  14. Nothing against the guys at Tourtfitters they are helpful, but the only reason I went into that store and paid their riduculous prices was because it was in the NW..... $3.00 for streamers come on.
  15. So now that I have been researching I of course have been getting more questions I can't answer for myself. Originally I thought any two-handed rod was a "spey" rod.... I am now aware that I was clearly mistaken. So here goes my first questions. What is the difference between a "switch," a "spey" and a "two-hander"? What would constitute the appropiate time/water for each?
  16. Winston on the board here custom makes fly tying desks....... but alas not that cheap.... but much better quality
  17. on a quick note Jer, the jet boat is secured
  18. Holy bro, I had no idea it was that cold up there already.... PS call in sick for saturday, you can't work with IBS
  19. My dad sat me down to watch the Trout Bum Diaries, I loved them anyone know where i can by AEG Videos in Calgary.
  20. wow I don't ever recall us running to "our bigger brother" for help... more like the other way around..... can you say afghanistan
  21. thanks guys I do live here in calgary so I will meet up with you that have offered, I just want to be profficent before I head out next year
  22. So i am going to be heading to the northern west coast next year for a few weeks to fight steelheads. After my trip to the coast this week I have decided I enjoy fly fishing to much to use my drift gear as much now. So I am thinking a spey rod would be one good way to go. I was thinking a TFO, because I don't want to drop a tonne on this rig to start (under $700 hopefully). Where should I look for research on what type of spey, what line weight, what length.... that type of stuff. Maybe a rod that I could use here to cast big streamers. Secondly is there someone out there that teaches spey casting once I have my gear, or that would take some time for me to try out a rod or two.... I know huge stretch. I am more then willing to pay someone with $$$ or information on what I know about the coast. I know it's a ways away but I like to be prepared, well in advance. Let me know and thanks
  23. personally I find the waters in alberta more relaxing and enjoyable, you have no idea how much pressure these water get and garbage every where shows, I could have easily filled several garbage bags in the few K's i walked. I was picking up line but soon stopped as I realized it was an excerise in futility.
  24. Hey guys just got in from the Chilliwack river. No real epic shots today as it was raining in a way I haven't seen in eons, and my DSLR isn't water proof. it fogged up pretty bad after a few pics and still hasn't returned to "clear" yet. I dont think I will be able to fish tomorrow as the Chilliwack was on it's way to blowing out, I watched it rise almost a metre in the last 2 hours alone. there was so much debris coming down river, I had several great hookups of leaves and branches... they don't fight so well after the intial snag. I hooked up several chum.... we all did. I landed a coho on a green and silver christmas tree and I landed a nice 16" rainbow on a peach glo bug. My bro aslo landed a nice little bow. I also saw 3 springs landed but they don't seem to be in the system at the #s they should be right now. I was really hoping to fly fish today but being on the chilliwack there wasn't much room and I got a lot of dirty looks and bad comments so I was really forced to get out my drift rod. I was hoping to get into the vedder canal where the high water will bring in a lot more coho and there is tonnes of room to flyfish..... but my wife won that arguement, something about leaving her at my parents house for a few days while I fish from sun up to sun down. I was hoping to fish the chehalis 1 more time but with this rain not letting up the chehalis blows out quick and no point wasting time on a unfishable water when I could hang out with family...I guess. Today I fished from right below the limits hole and walked/waded down to where I could see the Kywak gates at Tamahi. So I will drop a few pics once my camera clears up. 1 note I did break off a clouser and a christmas tree in the bend of the hooks on fish and I was only using 10lb tippet, strange but next time I will tie them myself and probably use gamagatsu drift hooks
  25. this dirty little hole my buddy Jeff pulled 4 coho out of on thursday hidden boat, don't want those guides seeing where we were. My bro gearing up for the hike out. On thursday my buddy Jeff saw 3 bears in this stretch, I wasn't so lucky. Maybe I will see some on tuesday when i fish the upper chehalis canyon getting late in the night, it was a long dawn to dusk day. You can see I have a rod in my hand, this was one of our double headers... the fish I landed was just over 6'
