    "the Bob"

looks like a great trip. thanks for sharing. I've always wanted to spend sometime down in Montana.
  4. Just curious, do march browns typically emerge by swimming through the water columns to the surface, or crawling out the edge of the river?
  5. Cool, I'm super excited about getting these in Alberta. But wasn't sure if it will create issues for other water sheds if someone illegally transported them. Sounds like the issue has been considered, and the risk is relatively low of them becoming an ongoing competive species (against cuts, bows, and Browns) in rivers and lakes that they weren't intentionally stocked in. Just my 0.02$ though. Cheers Fred
  6. Hey fellas, please excuse my ignorant question, but are Tiger trout once transplanted self sustaining, or are they sterile so that they are unable to reproduce? If they were illegally transported to other waters, would this create issues down the road? Cheers. Fred
  7. Hey. My dad uses a minkota 30 for his toon. On a recent trip to BC I noticed alot of guys using the minkota 50. I think both would do fine. Cheers.
  8. Really like the boat, but not the price. Just my 2 cents.
  9. good question. i was thinking the same thing. i am looking to try chain lakes and ghost lake, but i havent heard if the ice is thick enough yet.
  10. I have heard that wintering holes/runs are typically 5' or deeper. I am no expert. Can someone more experienced suggest what the typical depth range on wintering water might be? Thanks.
  11. I thought the trunk road south of Highwood house, and north of the Oldman was closed, but I could be wrong. Maybe your talking about a different section.
  12. There's quite a few lakes around the caroline area such as beaver lake and birch lake. I dont know how many are hike in but they maybe an option if you're willing to drive north.
  13. A piece of PVC tube and strapping should work too. That what I use for my fishin buddy.
  14. I have the 9' fishcat and it works great. I primarily fish the bow with it, but I have had it on some lakes as well. In hind sight I would've rather gone with the 8' just for a little bit lighter weight, smaller size, and little bit easier manoverability on moving water (when kicking with fins). Hope this helps. Cheers. Derf
  15. I tried flying with flies once. I ended up having to check them. I cant remember if it was air canada or west jet.
  16. I had a pair of Hodgeman's, they were checst waders though. They were okay, they didnt last much over a year and a half. I now have the simms convertable wading pants and there great. Cheers.
  17. Nice vid. How does the electric motor work for pushing around your drift boat? I've wondered if you could put a small motor on a drift boat.
  18. If you plan on putting it in a backpack get the one without foam. I like the foam seat but it doesnt compress well into a backpack for long hikes.
  19. my jeep was also broken into in Carburn park. My blackberry was stolen, and that was it. Really discourages a guys from fishing in the city when hearing about all of these breakin reports....
  20. I use a Griffin Odysssey. It was a gift from my old man. Its okay, but the tip of jaw cracked. I also find that the set up isnt to handy for small flies (<16). At some point I will upgrade most likely to a renseti (sp?).
  21. I have the 9' fish cat and handles great on the bow. my only complaint is that is too heavy when fully loaded to carry it. when I float the bow I usually end up making 2 or 3 trips with my gear from my jeep to the waters edge. The 8' version might be a little easier for carrying. Something to think about. Cheers.
  22. I have 2 TFO's ( 1-6 weight, 1- 4 weight). Was about to purchase my third last week when Fish tales recommended trying out Amundson. I ended up going for the Amundson - 4 piece 6 weight. It was cheeper, the same warrenty, and casted better in my opinion. It came with a rigid rod case as well. All this for $119. Pretty good deal I thought. Go to Fish tales and try both the TFO and Amundson.
  23. I wonder is "Cows and Fish" are aware of this. They have been mitigating situations like this in the past.
