  1. The last pic should be what we do to all bait fishers
  2. Sorta the same thing I do Conor. Two black beads tie together on a wire for the eyes. Then marabou ... the fuzzy end for the tail, and the rest for the body, wrap it up with olive thread, whip finish, cement, done. Takes all of 30 seconds / fly and.... it was my fly of choice for all of last fall, everywhere I fished.
  3. You'll never look at an indicator the same way now...
  4. I can sure vouch for his photography. It's excellent. These guys know how to catch fish I'll tell ya!
  5. Did you throw a can of bait at the drunk to slow him down? Did the cops get the jerk? I hope you get some positive karma for a long time now...
  6. The common misconception people have about making phone calls late is that people will not get caught. So what...... are you aware of how funding is allocated? The more call in's you guys make about violations on the Bow river (wether it's in time to nail the guys OR wether it's 4 days after the fact) will be a MAJOR determining factor as to how the enforcement budget and staffing gets set up in future years. Make the calls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I'd choose #7... take gaff out by hand, climb up the rope, punch the crane operator in the head, tie rope around HIS neck, operate crane with deft skill... maneveuring him to crash repeatedly against a rock wall.......
  8. Conor. It's a series of ponds located close to Waterton Park, just a half hour from my place Private ... I beleive the rod fee is about $50/day/person. Makes sense for me to go there... as I could easily spend $50 in gas to go anywhere else really. I don't know why I haven't gone yet *slaps self in arse... get going you fool!*
  9. what I mean is.... you will break a light tippet on a 5WT much more often than you will on a 3WT. The reason being the flexibility of the rod when the fish makes sudden movements. I've watched so many guys, even skilled guys, lose big bow river fish hooked on caddis and 5x tippet, and using their 5WT's that they won't put down
  10. Tried lots of ways to land fish and the best I can figure, is ... if I am standing in the middle of the river, playing a fish to me, I land it by hand or sorta pin it against my leg to pick it up gently. Remove hook, fish is gone no net. If I am on or near shore, I use a net on larger fish. If I want a picture, I use a net. Land fish, keep net in water with fish in the net, get buddy to ready the camera... lift for 5 seconds... *snap photo* then release. Other than the fish toolman dropped 15 times last night, I haven't seen a fish rub the rocks / grass in a long time *grin*
  11. Awesome! I have yet to fish salmon on the fly reod... a situation which I will be looking to remedy this coming Sept/Oct.
  12. well I guess I go against the grain here. My 3WT is by FAR my favorite rod to fish. I have 8wt's 6wt, one 4wt, and my 3. The one that sees the MOST use is my 3. I fish crowsnest, small tribs, oldman, and even dry fly bow river with her. It's really not the size of rod vs the fish (well to a degree) but rather the size of tippet vs the fish. I can protect my 5x tippet on large fish much better with a 3wt than with a 5wt. Ask toolman how long it takes for me to scrap a 20+ rainbow to it's knees on the Bow in fast high water on my 3wt.... not long...... if you know how to fight 'em... My setup is a StCroix Legend Ultra 3WT coupled with an Islander reel... (gold) *bling*
  13. Jeez instead of throwing bait cans at them you'll be tossing a tactical nuke! awesome!
  14. Flies to tie for most all boxes would be: Adams #18 Stonefly nymphs golden and black #6-12 Prince nymph #14-16 Hares ear nymph #14-18 Pheasant tail nymph #14-18 Elk Hair Caddis(tan, light tan, with blue, green, or brown bodies) #14-20 Caddis Puppae imitations #14-18 San Juan worm (wire wrap) #4-12 Blue winged Olive (dry and nymph) #16-22 Stimulator (yellow and orange bodied ones) #6-10 LeTort or other hopper version #6-10 Midge patterns (dry and nymph) #16-22 Black Ant #14-18 Clouser minnows and Bow river buggers and various large weighted streamers (Brown, Black, Olive, White,) are some of the best colors. Bull trout streamers 6 inches or more ong, with red on them somewhere. See if the boys will post a pic of the bully streamer they have that looks like a lil' rainbow... those work great, or tie about the same fly like I do but use gold flash, white belly, and brown on top, and a little red flashing around the gill areas.. (looks like a sucker or whitefish and SLAYS 'em) That outta cover pretty much MOST situations. For the small streams I'd be using a hopper / nymph combo.. so make sure most of the nymphs are beadheads..
  15. nice Bass! That's one fish on my list of "wanna catch somedays"
  16. Railway Museum.... it's actually kinda cool....
  17. Hydro... 3 clients got to see that show... LOL and a bunch of people looking onward from the bridge at southland that day...
  18. Think of it this way.... It was a damn good presentation!! You got him on the first throw!!
  19. The full story will be told when I finally land that son of a __________ lol
  20. Esleech. Your fine man... it's fun to play with em for a while. Note that YOU killed 'em while others went 5/7.... and you did all yours on the dry... the light tippet does certainly help get into dry fish.. but... use a lighter rod like a 3wt or 2wt, so you can get a healthy bend in the rod yet still have enough protection for that light tippet. I fish a 3wt all the time and to be honest, I do not lose very many fish hooked on the dry (once I hook the little devils that is)... Your not talking about missing them on the hookset are you? Your talking about having them on and then losing them, right?
