  1. i wouldn't wait too long at this point....what happens if someone has already tied the pattern you are set on and you gotta quickly throw a backup in before the deadline?
  2. i didn't mind him...especially when he shoved whatzhisname into the penalty box awhile back...
  3. so with McGeough retiring at the end of this season, what will the flames fans have to use as an excuse next year?
  4. you are absolutely correct...my handwriting is so shot that i mistook Tango for Tako...my bad...the brackets have been edited...thanks for that one Kris...
  5. the final 8 tyers are bracketed up against each other with the highest seed tying against the lowest seed (exactly like the NHL playoffs)...seedings are based on the overall rankings posted in the original KOTV thread...here are the brackets for Round #2... (2) drbulltrout - entered vs. (26) clyde (8) Badger - entered vs. (19) albannachxcuileag - entered (9) bigbadbrent - entered vs. (17) dryfly - entered (10) TerryH - entered vs. (11) Tango - entered the category for Round #2 is STONEFLIES (any life cycle)...patterns to be emailed to me (bullyhunter AT gmail.com)...if there is already someone who has tied the pattern, the duplicate pattern must be replaced by a different pattern (first come first serve)...as the entries are in, i'll post *entered* beside the tyer's name...patterns in by April 11 at 10 PM (or sooner if everyone gets done)...good luck and have fun...

  13. almost looks like a sowbug of sorts...nice tie...
  14. damn...my secret is out...might as well spill it...this is my Burla Bug...this thing was big earl's lunch and my go to bully pattern... i love using a jighead to get a big ball of rabbit down quick rather than crimping shot...two reasons for this: no hinges when lobbing it out and no crimping means no stress on the leader except for the knots...
  15. anything will bulls in it is okay by me...

  19. 8. Holding the foam loosely, pull over the top of the body. With your other index finger, hold the foam in place and make a loose wrap around the foam. Pull down and toward the rear of the hook to create a nice humped shellback. Clip off the excess foam and form a small head. Whip finish and cement. 9. The finished Burla Boatman
  20. Burla Boatman (Originated and Tied by Andrew Burla) This is such a simple pattern and a deadly one at that. Personal favorite I use as a starting pattern on any given lake and the occasional river. Can be fished alone, in tandem with another boatman, or trailed behind a leech pattern. Fish with jerky 3-6 inch strips to imitate the natural. If you fish lakes, try this pattern and you won't be disappointed. *Tying Note* The pattern demonstrated below is tied to be fished just below the surface. If you want to add weight to the fly, only two or three turns of lead wire is required. However, when a circumstance dictates getting the fly deeper, I usually just crimp a small shot a few inches above the fly or else run a sink tip line. Materials Hook: TMC 2457 Thread: 8/0 Black Trailers: Rainbow Krystal Flash Shellback: Black Pipe Foam Kickers: Black Stretch Floss Air Bubble: Pearl Ice Dub Body: Black Peacock Ice Dub Tying Steps 1. Attach tying thread. 2. Loop a strand of Krystal Flash around the thread and tie down so there are two trailers. Trim to approx. 1/4" long. 3. Using a piece of pipe foam (used to insulate exposed pipes - can be found in any hardware store), cut a small strip about 1 1/2" long by 1/8 deep and taper it. 4. Tie in the tapered end. 5. Loosely dub a small amount of Pearl Ice Dub for the air bubble. 6. Tie in a 1" piece of stretch floss at the 2/3 shank point. 7. Dub a robust body and "X" the dubbing around the legs to keep them sticking straight out.
