  1. The biggest or most important question you need to ask yourself prior to purchasing a pontoon is where do you want or will fish the most. ie: lakes, ponds, canals, rivers 1 man pontoons are available in sizes from 7' to 11' long with just about every option you could think of. When it comes to boats/floats is there is always a plus and minus when adding options. Adding them will change the characteristics of the said boat/float. If you want to add a electric motor a 8' pontoon is not the best one to have, not saying it can't be done. A person can float the Bow on a Lada inner tube but I would not even if it was free. Here's a small list of options that you might consider: Front electric steer capabilities Stand ups - flip back thigh bars - under seat pull out floor - high rise swivel seat White water capacities Big carrying capacity for island camp outs Dual air chambers
  2. We will be giving it a try today, thought is to off load at 10th street and pull out at Glenmore ( if conditions allow)
  3. Good day to all Just curious if anyone has floated the Bow in the past week? Being the weather conditions are what they have been and what they will be, I was considering a run and would greatly appreciate any info.
  4. The 45 that Tungsten mentioned would be all you needed for either and by far the best bang for your buck. Just out of curiousity being you have a stand up pontoon are you going to leave it a rear drive or convert it to a front drive and steer?
  5. The pontoon material they use is (1000 denier) it is thinner than the material used on the Fish cat series (1200 denier). Not to say the Fish cat series are not of quality but it is Outcast's alternative to a "honest rated river craft material". I do not want this to come off sounding ignorant but! Have you every floated a 2 man? What are you wanting them to do? ie: the four man would/could be used by 4 to jig for fish certainly could not have 4 people casting off it even if you were chucking lures. It could be also used on the middle Bow as a scenic cruiser. If you have not floated on one I would suggest you keep dreaming of owning one but borrow or rent one first.
  6. dryfly certainly no harm no foul my friend. Naive not as much after your post. No fair Don is older than dirt. "I say that with a smile Don"
  7. Don I do not know how old your lawnmower is but newer ones all come with a inline gas shut off valve. With the gas valve in the off position, remove the hose that goes from the valve to the carb. Hook up another hose which will feed into a can big enough to hold what gas you have left in your lawnmower. Turn valve on to drain and make sure you shut it off when finished draining. Don in case yours is too old to have a shut off valve then I suggest if you are going to continue to purchase blended gas I would install one or at least install a long enough hose so the end that goes to the carb can be removed and put into a can to drain the blended fuel from your lawnmower. My apology for misleading you into thinking it only takes a second or two, I should have posted it could take up to 1 minute to do this.
  8. Don it is a simple fix and you even have choices. 1-Buy non blended gasoline 2-If you are not going to use it again in the next 8 weeks drain it and put it in your Automobile. It only takes a second to do that which is probably just as long as it takes to hang up a set of waders to dry out or cleanup your fishing gear for your next trip. 3-Do not add water to the tank
  9. You are right after 20 years it is hard to tell where it was logged but until then here is what you will see. I ask you please take a drive out to Wiapours and see for yourself what to expect for the future of Castle area or at least for the next 20 years. They shut Wiaporous down because of the damage caused by 4 wheelers and opened it for logging. I have never seen 4 wheelers produce the damage that logging does.
  10. They should be be acountable and I am not be sarcastic. Take a drive out to Wiapours and go over one hill from the trunk road. If you find that acceptable then I guess I am a NIMBY.
  11. None of the logging done in K country or the Castle area will be used to build houses or worse yet Rolling papers.
  12. I did not say there is one but rather we need one. Hell would be too good.
  13. I bet you could have a million names on this petition and logging will still happen, granted the petition may make small adjustments to quell the mass but it will be logged. Or they will not log what can be seen from the road as they have in Wiapourace (sorry for the spelling) There are logging is provincial parks under the disguise of protecting the woods from the pine beetle. What is needed is some honest politicians.
  14. Don you are correct in the fact there is not a market for small pine trees and will probably stay that way unless you start making small pine tree fishing rods or are satisfied buying the small pine trees for your fire place. The price of diesel has nothing to do with the fact there is no market for small pine trees. Brazil is 100% self reliant when it comes to fuel using cane sugar and they also export it.
  15. No land has been taken out of food production it is a product that is deemed not fit for human consumption. Why would they pay and use Grade "A " product when they can get the unusable for consumption product for a much cheaper price and no doubt lots of it. You are lead to believe it is "at this time" non profitable so there is handouts to the corporations.
  16. Good day to all It can only be considered a food resource if it is deemed fit for human consumption, I doubt the "soy and cellulose, corn, sugar cane, sweet beets, algae, and pine trees" that are used is not what you would enjoy being used as a meal. I am not saying it could not be eaten but rather would you pay hard earned cash for it. A lot of what is used would be left to rot where it lay's or burnt in mass fires. I see it's use as a plus, non ethonal gas is still readily available it is just not at every corner gas pump.
  17. It is only "just like a bearing buddy " in that it pushes grease. Bearing buddies will push grease and any contaminates thru the two bearings and then out past a seal Eze lube axels will force the grease to push away any contaminates from the bearings. For anyone considering adding a set of Bearing Buddies I would suggest you save your money up and invest in a new axel. I am sure some are saying "are you nuts" You can purchase a complete new axel assembly for 160.00, you drop the old and intall the new. The days of repacking bearings or replacing them every two years is over. You can even step up the axel size from a 2000lbs to a 3500lbs for about $20.00 more. With stepping up the size you would need to purchase new bigger U-bolts.
  18. I believe it was an option until all the old stock was used up and then it changed to be there standard.
  19. The axel you purchased from Standens should be a EZE lube axel. (Eze lube axels have a hole drilled into the center of the axel with a vetical hole drilled in the middle of where the inner and outer bearings sit) Is there a black rubber plug at the end of the axel? Pull it off and there will be a grease nipple. I have used eze lube axels for a couple of years and I have yet to find moisture in the bearings.
  20. There is a shop called Some Like it Hot on 10st and 44ave. N.E. that deals strickly in Hot sauces. They have walls of different hot sauces.
