  1. I do not believe they would stick or last as long compaired to paint after the rigers of expanding and contracting associated with pontoons boats. I will check them out just incase. Thanks
  2. Good day to all I am looking for a letter painter with experience using vinyl paint. The job entails painting a web name on 10 pontoon rental boats. Paint and cleaning materials will be supplied, you supply the talent and brushes. Pontoons can be painted in my shop which is ventilated and well lit or yours. Day or evenings.
  3. Is a person allowed to set up a over night campsite on one of the islands on the Bow?
  4. Good day to all At the present time I am building a trailer to carry a couple Outcast 8' pontoon boats with slide out carriers. The closer it gets to completion the more I see that this same type of idea to carry them should/could/would work for other longer pontoon boats. At least it does as I stand there with a cold pop in hand. I would like to get some of pictures and measurements of these pontoons: -Outcast Stand-up (casting deck) -Outcast Pac 1200 Any and all as always is greatly appreciated. I live in Forest Heights but willing to cross the tracks to get them.
  5. "I challenge you then Sir to step up your game like I do and lead by example in keeping not just this park but all parks clean" Listen here bud you know nothing of who I am or what I do in my community and to insinuate I should step up my game as if I use and abuse my surroundings is a out right LIE and a personal attack. I have called you on several of my posts where you have misquoted, read into or just posted untruths of where I have fished to how much I enjoyed it. You have taken snippets from my comments and embellished them to create a totally different meaning to suit your case. For these reason I done with you and this thread. I posted on this thread only because of my concern for what I truly consider a bit of paradise. Nothing more nothing less.
  6. First off I am not talking about Alberta fisheries on the whole only the upper K and it is by no means a crappy fishery. I am certainly not expressing any interst in as you infer to keep this place to myself. Would I enjoy see less people out there when I fish who would not. Do you go out hoping there are lots. Nor will I feel guilty about it. I am expressing my opinion of what some of the concerns, I have if these proposals come into effect. To think that if these rules come into place that there would not be any bad side effects is wrong. I am sure you would agree that the Upper K is almost paradise but does have some things that could be improved. My worry is when or if these proposals come into effect that the first three years my chances of bring home one from the upper K is zip to none. Have you ever cooked a cutty out of there? To compare that to a Costco fish is sacrilegious. My second most worry is after the third year there will be lots of new people coming to fish there and why not? You have a beautiful lake set in the background of paradise where the norm is 50cm +. You don't think there will be fisherman coming out of the wood work to fish the Upper K not to mention how many "guides" bringing clients in. Then you think all of these fisherman will not litter but will pick up after someone else. If they do come into affect I hope you right.
  7. This proposal will make this lake a great Catch and Release lake for the first 3 years and when there are big enough to keep the onslot will be on. It will be just like the Bow, shoulder to shoulder with garbage floating by. It would probably smell different and less rock snot but it's like anything it is just a matter of time untill it gets screwed. It is not a perfect lake but it is not far off. I vote to leave it alone.
  8. Sundancefisher I truly believe that your intended stewardship in this matter is true blue and I applaud you for that. I also understand that by these regulation changes it would undoubtedly entice more to fish the upper K. simply for the reasons you posted. With any change there will always be the plus and minus effect, simply by raising the catch size we have affected more than just the fish but what they eat and how much and what size of food they eat. Correct me if I am wrong but even bugs will be affected by this action. Our attempts at manipulating the system has show in the past to be a hit and miss draw. Bulls head worked ( I don't know as I have never fished it ) which is great but I am sure it has it problems because of that change. The upper K is a lot more sensitive to change where damaged caused could take 20 years to recuperate. I was fortunate to fish the upper K at least 2 dozen times this past summer, in those times I hate to admit it but I was skunked a couple times, other days it was just smallies and then there were a couple of days you only dream of. To me that is fishing, the chance of a big one when buddy next to me hooks a smallie. If all of those days were to be just big fish days I believe I would grow somewhat tired of that. The chase is a big part of the fun. If your concerns are leaning more to the fight of the fish go to a lighter rod. Everyone has caught a small fish that made you think you have a whopper on the line only to see you just have a little one that is not about to give up for anything. These few things will be the immediately affect by those changes. 1 line up to off load and load the boat. 2 parking issues 3 the litter 4 traffic 5 dirty water ( being used as a urinal, 2 stroke motors ) I could go on but I am sure you get my point. I am sorry but I have no interest in seeing those changes, I fish the upper K for more reasons than the just the fish. The drive up, the scenery while I fish, the color of the water, the fresh smell of clean air, the low amount of people, the anticipation of a big catch amongst the small unwanted catches by some. Some have said it is paradise up there and I agree, would you be able to say after these changes. At this moment I know what I have and I am not prepared to risk it. For those that have not signed this petition as of yet all I ask of you is that you ask yourself to consider all plus and minus's associated with these proposed changes. Yes I am being selfish for wanting to keep it as it is.
  9. I purchased 2 dual use deep cycle batteries from Walmart 2 years ago for my boat which I paid $99 for, they are now $107 for the same model. I have had no problem what so every. I just use a 40 year old K-mart trickle charger (3amp), this is small charger and it does take a considerable amount of time to charge up but this is a weekend boat. Get yourself a no frills crappy tire 10 amp charger and you can fish every day of the week. My batteries are a series 27, it is there biggest model which is way to big for your application but they make smaller ones which for what you are intending is ideal. I would also expect that the smaller ones would be under a $100. When you do purchase a battery check to see when it was manufactured and just like bread do not get the bread that has been siting on the shelf for any extended period. Never leave any deep cycle battery under charged and always top up durring the winter months. This is an old picture as I now have a plug in up for the battery charger hook up.
  10. The 81 mg Aspirin conspiracy I am someone that needs to take a daily low dose of aspirin along with other numerous colored goodies different times of the day. I have no complaints about shelling out dough to do that and I also realize the companies that make these drugs do deserve to make a profit. That profit enables those drugs to be researched and developed. Now aspirin has been around since dirt and there are lots of companies making it and the ingredients are not hard find or expensive to make. The regular size aspirin is 325mg which you can purchase it as low as 2.50 for 30 The 81mg low dose aspirin runs about 4.50 for 30 I friend of mine in Ohio sent me 900 low dose aspirins which he paid under 12.00 including tax for. It cost 4.03 in shipping by snail mail. I thought it was crazy that there would be such a big difference in cost between the regular aspirin and a low dose but seeing what it cost to get 3 year supply shipped from a friend in the states gets me wondering just who is screwing me.
  11. Which of the 500 plus kms would you be talking about?
  12. There is a unfinished wood product store about a block from Wholesale Sports in Calgary which makes all kinds of desks, tables but you will have to finish them. ie: stain or paint They will make what ever you want.
  13. "i'm looking for the lightest possible boat for me and my two dogs" "i need something i can lift and carry myself" "i'm driving a jeep wrangler with no roof rack" "i dont want to spend more than $1000" I don't believe you will be able to find anything that will met all those needs. But the best of luck to you.
  14. As long as you let someone know when you entered and when you are expecting to be back along with a detailed map of your expected route will make it easier for the seachers to bring out what is left. I can understand your want for a dreamed fishing trip rolled together with a bit of the survivor roll but in reality heading into the woods alone is not a great idea. I don't know you but I would still be bothered by the fact a fellow fisherman is not making it back home because of the butalities of nature itself. Buddy up, it is always better to experinced a great time with someone like minded.
  15. Here's a idea and I know nothing of this person just saw the add http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-b...QAdIdZ215775084
  16. First question - I guess the biggest thing would be I could report someone that was not. Second question- You are right it is the Liberals fault Again my appoligy for hijacking this thread.
  17. I totally agree if a person is going to reach into his pocket and dig out 500+ dollars it would only make sense to do some research. But my question was- is there that little of a profit margin that guide/guides would need to charge an extra buck or two for the use of the proper fly as per fishing conditions. I guess a good tip to anyone that in researching is to start looking for the small * * All packaged condiments are 25 are now 25 cents a piece * 5% boat cleaning charge *As of March 31/2010 there will be a 5% environmental surcharge on lost flies. My rave is as much about "Alberta Fishing Guides" as it is about the fact this Conservative government has more interest in your 50 dollars then it is in the citizens of Alberta. $50.00 + web site + boat + Alberta sportsman fishing liecence POOF you are a Professional Alberta Fishing Guide
  18. I am not trying to start a debate and I am sorry if this question would be considered high jacking this thread. Is there that little of a profit margin that flies are not included or is that a way for some of the "Bow River Guides" to squeeze every buck they can from the client. Only in Alberta can $50.00 buy you a license that qualifies a person to be called a licensed professional fisherman. Gotta love our Conservative Government
  19. The Runabout has a Humminbird 718 with a quadrabeam transducer and the aluminum is actuly a flat bottomed jet boat that will have the jet removed and a 20hp prop driven Johnson on for the tournament. Both have Minnkota trollers and will have all needed safety and required equipment. The decision as to who will be the Veteran will not be ours to make. I have contacted Canadian Forces Soldier on Program http://www.cfpsa.com/en/psp/soldieron/index.asp which will give me a list of a couple of Veterans that have been recently injured and disabled due to the Afganistan war. They will decide who in the Calgary area that would most benifit from a weekend like this.
  20. I understand this is not the type of fishing usealy accepted in a Fly forum but I feel it is a subject that does deserve to be at least listened to. This is something I am trying to put together if anyone thinks they would be interested in any way please PM. I will donate the use of two fully insured boats and all fuel needed to compete in the up coming SAWT tournament at Travers. The boats will be outfitted with all the necessary safety equipment and portable live well so as to pass safety inspection. The catch is you will cover the complete entrance fee and supply all fishing equipment for you and a designated Vet. You will be responsable for the boat and your partner. All winnings are yours and your partner to be devided equaly or better yet donate it to the Vet. You will be required to adhear to all rules and regulations set out by SAWT. If this is something you would like to do or would just like to help set up send me a PM and we will go from there. These are the boats that are available: The white fiberglass is a 16' Canaventure with a 85hp Merc and a Minn-kota for trolling The Aluminum is a 14' flat bottomed river boat with a 20hp Johnson and a Minn-kota for trolling. Sorry I cannot post a pic of the aluminum boat as I am close to a size limit allowed.
  21. If you got a cat pissing on your things and they are in the house when he does it, get rid of the cat because it not if he will piss on things again but when he will do it again.
