  1. Good day to all Can anyone recomend a good bench mounted mag glass (hopefuly without a light) and where I might find one. I need one that is at least 6" if not bigger with a power of at least 6. I do have a 4 power 3" but it is just not big or powerful enough.
  2. If a guy is in a pinch I guess that would work.
  3. Can a person buy a sheet af magnet that could be placed underneath a cover green felt?
  4. I realy like the idea of the green felt. Having something down that will help to keep the many things from getting away. This is a definate concern I have always had being I have a dog that appears to be one of those unique walking & eating magnets. I was thinking of checking out some of the numerous second hand stores in my area just incase they have a good base to start from.
  5. Yes that table looks a weeeee bit busy but functual. bhurt You must have lots of doubles. wink wink
  6. Good day to all I am looking for ideas on building a nice comfortable tying table. First off I don't have a lot of anything ( Please refer to my post in the Trading section under Bench vise and assort.) but I am sure I will. With that in mind what have some of you handy kind of guy's built or be able to piece together from either numerous trips to the flea markets or the back alleys of Forest Heights. Maybe it was something that you hatched out in the garage when the pops were at there best "cold". May I remind you everyone like pics.
  7. Did you build the decks and do you have a picture? I have a couple of idea's but it's always nice to see what others have fabed up.
  8. I finally got a chance to try out my new to me 1032 Jon boat on Winchell lake ( couple of km's from Bottrel on the 22 ). I figured this would be a good place to try it out and I had a blast. As a 1 man boat I found it easy to unload, manuver the lake with the 30lbs Minn Kota that I got with the boat. The boat skipped around at a blistering 4 or 5 kms I am sure or at least a slow jog which I am sure will show to be addiquate. There was a couple of times a good gust of wind came up and would diffinatly push the boat with ease but all I would have to do is point it in the dirrection of the wind and turn up the thottle. I would like to say that the power of that bad boy being turned on would throw me back a bit but I can't. I can honestly say that it did move forward at a slow walk but you knew you were moving forward which made me confidate that I would not have to worry. Now for the bad points; The rear seat/bench is too far back and is to low I would like taller side but not a deal breaker Modifications I will be removing the rear bench seat, make a mount so I can mount a pedistal seat about 6" forward and 4" taller which will swivel. The weather was excellent, hot with a small breeze that would gust up a couple of times but nothing to bitch about. The fish were bitting at anything that hit the surface and hitting hard when the did hook which made you think you had a gooder on the line. It would only take a couple of seconds to realize that it was just anouther 6" with spunck. I had a blast, it was a great day with nothing to complain about except the ride home as the traffic thru Airdre was terrible at 4 in the afternoon. I can and will recomend this type of boat as a excellent pond/small lake boat as long as it is used as a one man boat. I am sure you could have a second person in it but I feel it would be a little tippy.
  9. I came across some plans for an inexpesive pond boat which I am concidering. I was thing of pimping it up a bit with a cup holder and am radio. Looking for more suggestions that would make this pond skimmer a real head turner.
  10. I bet you will see a big jump not only in the amount boats and but boat types. People that own jet boats will no longer take them to the Red when we have a spot like Policemans Flats. Its close, brand new and fits lots of people and trailers. I even expect to see lots of aluminum boats with guards on there 2 stroke prop drives.
  11. I expect see a lot more of everything good and bad, with more people out there I believe there will be less littering as well as poaching. Even jerks/poachers/litters are less likely to cause problems because of more people being around. I hate confontation with people when I am by myself reguardless if I am right and just reading the regs. The thing I was thinking the most was what if you thought they were doing it so there was food on there table. I think this happens more than we are willing to believe.
  12. I was walking along the Bow today and started thinking what impact the economy being what is is would have on the Bow as the signs say it will get worse. Would I see less fish because more are starting to think of them as food than a sport/hobby. Would I see more boats only because the cost of going where boats are more acceptable is a matter of cost and how much spendable cash people have. I wonder.
  13. Don't get me wrong but I don't think you can float down the Bow in anything and not piss someone off let alone go up the river. There are a lot of people out there that believe the Bow River belongs to them and them alone.
  14. I have been toying with the idea of a small Jon boat with a jet drive for the lower Bow but my knowldge of these matches the amount of people I know that own one. I am not looking to skip up the river at a blinding pace rather would just appreciate being able to get up without pissing anyone off. I cannot have someone shuttle my truck as it is set up to accommodate my phyical condition which might make a boat of this sort more suited to my needs. Like I said I am not looking to get anything to big or heavy. Any help in directing me in some direction would be greatly appreciated.
