What a great trip as my 3 yeaar old son would say "Tottaly Awesome DUDE!!!!" I don't ussually grin that big and i really wanted to have a bad ass expression in that picture with that bad ass fish but i couldn't get that grin off my face WOW!. day 1: Drove to B.C, got licence (don't go to canadian tire they've run out) saw bretts pics from two previouse days, changed underware, got a bit to eat and went into the mountains somewhere. Day2: Got up early ate breakfast thanks to Rick. Got my shat together we piled into the van drove 300yrds to trailhead "Bret says huh i could have sworn it was further" (i think he ws getting sick of hiking). hike into canyon, and i am in awe it's very cool every thing is so big, the boulders and log jams that as i hiked through it made me feel so small it was a very cool feeeling and then we get to the first hole and i look down into the water and there is seriously 25lb bulls just crusing and my heart starts to pound. I get the FEVA. Get into my first bull and these fish just tottaly own your ass. going where they want and your just along for the ride. I get it close and it was a struggle, Rick goes for the tail grab and it busts loose from his hand and i scream "Comon RICK! you gotta GIVER!" HE says something like "i have skinny arms and i think i broke a nail" so i have another round with bully i get him into Rick this time he says "ah screw it" he kicks off his high heals charges into the water and then grabs that biyatch by the tail BEYAHHHHHH Sucka! (i mean bully). Rick hands the fish to me and then i say "HOLY CRAP! now thats a strong fish and then i get that they'er probly not the easiest thing to tail so then i say to Rick " Hey man, i get it, that fish was powERful!......and sorry you broke a nail".Rick is still pissed so he goes and breaks his rod in half but i don't think it made him feel any better. I caught a couple more in the 20" range. oh ya i almost forgot rick hooked up i chased his dam fish down the river 500yrds busted my knee twice missed the tail by an inch when it took off again down the rapids towards another boulder run i said F this S@#t grabed the rod out of Ricks hands and busted that biyatch off HEY! it was my rod! Rick shouldn't of got so pissed off and broke his in half. P.s.- Rick and me are still cool, with the understanding that his accepting my apology (for grabbbing the rod) has the condition that he will never let me forget about it. Day 3: Another day in paradise got a 20" bully on a stimulator going for cuts and that was a great fight on the 4wt. Day was slow but sitll just great scenary and an awesome experience and great company. Oh and ahhh rick What secret stream i have no idea what your talking about (and it will forever remain that way). Thanks alot Brett, Rick and Tyler for a great time it's always great to get out and experience something new in life and i can truly say i never done that before. It's been filed into my memory mind to go and get when when i need a happy place.

I've found that if your just Bow hunting access is easily obtained by just asking. But start going out now and spotting and then obtain your permission because alot of places have a limit to how many hunters they allow. I have found the father you get from calgary the easier it is to get permision.

Anybody Fish The Bow Around Gleichen?
troutlover replied to diggler's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
my budddy jet boats through the reserve all the time and no problems at all. HE also goes through the huderite colony and says the amount of fish he sees on their striggers every time he goes would make you sick. but the fishing still continues to be great. -
That oct caddis is really great. ( one of my favorite hatches to hit GULP!......ZZZZZING!!!!!!) if your having a problem trying your flys out you send them to me and i'll let you know

I hope the regulation change you speak of is just a nasty rumor cuz that would suck BIGTIME. I'd like to find out where this info comes from so i'm gonna get on the phone and dig around a little. Taco now that you mention it yes i think your right you know your fish and i do remember a while back someone telling me the same thing. I don't belive they stock the lakes up there anymore and there seems to be a diversity of all ages so they are reproducing well. tintin yes it is the grizzly deerfoot but i've never met a bad bear in that area, we were only 200 yards from this griz. We knew he was there, we were in a group of four and he was aware of us but busy feeding it was amazing to see him rip up the ground like it was nothing. Yes the area up there is unreal in the fall i'm going again on the sept long. Heres some more pics

There is a place in Banff that i have been going to since i was 14 years old. My dad would drop me and my buddy of in the sunshine village parking lot and off we would go to our playground for a week to roam the wilderness. I know the place like the back of my hand and it still blows my mind. I went there a couple of weeks ago and did alot of hiking and a little bit of fishing. In 4 hrs, 30, 10 to 14 inch cutts to hand and every fish like the scenary around, mind blowing. I just can't keep this one a secret cuz i want others to experience this area and it's power. It's 13 km hike in and there is a hut so no tent is needed. The hut is also nice to stay in if there is rain. From the hut there is 7!!! lakes to choose from all 2km away and 4 of which are fishable in a one day 7km loop. Mummy lake (the best of the 7 IMO) is one of the higest elevation lakes in north america so you are way up there. Check out the colors Mummy Lake If anyone wants some info just pm me i think it's one of the best places in banff. Oh ya don't forget the bear spray

Who could ever complain about livin on the bow and a city that takes a week off in the summer to live a little wild west. The Calgary moto with the boom is "work hard play hard".

most fly lines are weighted and rated to load a rod best with 30' of line out so if your fishing small streams and not often casting 30' putting one higher weight on helps your cast alot a good trick is to pull 30' feet out the tip of your rod mark your line at the reel and it gives you an idea when your fishing if your in the "sweet spot" or not. iv'e found that somtimes if your casting to a spooky fish your better off to back off to 30' (give or take 5) to get in that "sweet spot" and you can get a better cast and a softer presentation.
