  2. Thought this might get some of your attention by posting it here. Was originally posted in news discussion and current issues. It kills me that there are 200 plus people that have viewed this thread and only 7 responses. In the photos section any threads regarding steelhead had way more views and also way more responses. most of the responses were : I love that place, wicked pics, cant wait to go back, maybe one day. Well!!!! Maybe one day you might not have that pleasure!! Please read it and send emails to the B.C govt. Rightyeegs is right the squeaky wheel does get the grease. env.minister@gov.bc.ca , TCA.Minister@gov.bc.ca , adolan@islandnet.com , Paddy.Hirshfield@gov.bc.ca PLEASE SEND EMAILS anyone have any connections local news papers,tv reporters maybe that might help some. most people couldnt care about fishing but it is beyond that! ITS ABOUT BEING A CANADIAN, YET BEING TREATED LIKE AN ALIEN (american, european, etc). WE ALREADY FUND THE MANAGEMENT OF THESE THRU FEDERAL TAXES. Thanks in advance. PKK

    West Coast Pic's

ever seen one of those when it is fresh. chrome bright! it is to bad people are allowed to catch these beautiful beasts so far up into their spawn cycle. i would have to disagree with all the responses. those are tired old boots that were either flossed or foul hooked. and if they actually grabbed it, it was because they were protecting their redds. poorly done
  5. not a chance. is it for the fish or yourself. the fish will never benefit. we are all just so selfish that we figure we deserve to not see anyone on our favorite run (there are a million people in calgary, so give it a break). there are more guides on the river than any out of town do it yourselfers. maybe you should add a column for guide restrictions. plus when it happened in se bc all anyone did was complain about it. should we follow the same footsteps? does it make it right that just because it is us doing it. NO
  6. you really have to figure out what you will use the boat for the most. there is no one perfect boat for all applications. a lake boat and a river boat are 2 completely different beasts. they are all good boats that you have researched but all very different. Mikes alumifix out of Hazelton are fantastic boats (riden and driven lots of them right from the very first one he ever built) but is completely different than the Tomcat (which you have been in). i considered mikes boats when I made my new purchase but it is solely a river fishing boat. If you go with one of the larger boats I would recommend an inboard. call anytime, PK
  7. You wont have much of a choice, 4 strokes is all that is available in those sizes unless you are lucky to get a good used 2 stroke. and hey al, is your smart car able to tow a boat? PK
  8. get a guide for a walk and wade. they will teach you how to catch fish. not all of them cost 500. A guy like Max will get you into fish and teach you alot more than you think.
  9. if you are drifting some sort of fly, then it isnt much different than nymphing with a fly rod. go for it PK
  10. Al you cast just fine, you just have to hone your accuracy. set up some targets in your backyard or field and have at her. As with everything the more time spent the better one gets. pk
  11. any more info?
  12. that is a great read. Is it wrong to repost that every year?
  13. My Dad Is Gay Little David was in his 5th grade class when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came up -- fireman, policeman, salesman, etc. David was being uncharacteristically quiet and so the teacher asked him about his father. 'My father's an exotic dancer in a gay bar and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes, if the offer is really good, he'll go out to the alley with some guy and make love with him for money.' The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some colouring, and took little David aside to ask him, 'Is that really true about your father?' 'No,' said David, 'He plays for the Edmonton Oilers but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids..'
  14. maybe he bought all the unscented ones?
  15. well done. those are some good colors. koolaid also has some good colors. set it the same way as a dye. PK
  16. whack the odd dollie (steelhead bycatch).I think they taste one of the best. kill it, do a good job cleaning it, and eat it right away. great snack
  17. riffle hitching stoneflies should work when adults are skittering on the surface laying eggs. I riffle hitch all my drys when skating for steelhead. caught lots of dollies on the skated dry on the skeena system.
  18. left hand cigarette = WEED
  19. it happens. the top portion of the feather splits the best because the stem is thinnest.yes soaking does help.
  20. i think peeling it is better. just grab a hunk of fibers close to the stem and pull. you get less of the stem with it, which makes it wrap better. same for ostrich, and most feathers. i used to soak pheasant tails before i split them. you will break less and less the more you do it. PK
  21. beautiful chromer. water looks pretty low up there.
  22. i guess those coastal cutts are good eating?

    good fish pics
  24. I beg to differ. I think spey casting with a single hand rod you can only single haul. if you were to haul when forming you "D" or "V" loop you will loose all control on your anchor which is of utmost importance. you can still form a "V" with a single hander just like you do when spey casting with a 2 hander. how do you think its done with a 2hander without hauling? Have a look at the video that headscan posted, there is only single hauling going on there. think about why you doulble haul in overhead casting (single hand rod). the flex in rod generates line speed so your line lays out nice and straight out behind you before you start you 2nd haul. completely different for spey casting. jayjj11 could you shed some light on who you are and your experiences. Seems to me your posts are very similar to bigbadbrents ( who has very limited experience in spey casting. maybe a year. max 2) I would love to see some reference. Your photo shows someone 2hand casting forming a "V". nothing to do with a double haul spey casting with a single hand rod. PK
