  1. The switch is located in the handle if I'm not mistaken. I just took my 15 Evenrude appart and replace the handle and throttle cable. The shut of switch is a bit of a chore to replace if that's the issue. You can check on line for the part. I used Boats.net. Got all my parts sent from Florida including an new prop and it cost about what just the prop would have been if I had of bought it locally. Crazy isn't it. Took 10 days to get my suff shipped right to my door. The parts are all OEM parts. Not off shore equivalent. Just find the year and model of your engine. It is located on the side of the clamp and should be on the right side of the motor opposite of the handle. Rob
  2. Count me in. Send me a PM and let me know what you need.
  3. Oh crap not again. I thought we were all done with this Vote for me crap so I can win the trip of a lifetime. I was sick of it the first time round. Now here we go again for another round. I doubt this will ever end.
  4. It was tough fishing. But the top anglers seemed to still pull fish out of no where, even when fishing on flat beats. I know that I learned a ton from the competition and will never look at a river the same again. It was a fantastic time and I will be sure to do it again next year in Manitoba. Rob
  5. Let's see. Hmmmmmmm your going to make me think now. Bonefish Barracuda Tarpon Yellow Jack Yellowtail Snapper Sergeant Major Rainbow East Slope Cuthroat West Slope Cuthroat Yellowstone Cuthroat Chum Coho Spring Sockeye Mountain Whitefish Lake Whitefish Lakers Brown Bass Bull Trout Brook Trout Pike Sucker Squawfish (I grew up calling them Squawfish so I'm not changing now for some politically correct ^$$#@!&) Walleye I'm sure there's more.
  6. I just read the story. I'm not sure why she wouldn't have included them in her luggage. But there are always 2 sides to every story. Yes she shouldn't have had the flies. Then why did they detain her? Maybe she was a wee bit pissed off and got a bit lippy with them? I don't know I wasn't there. What I do know though is that I'm in for a dozen for sure. It doesn't say what kind of fishing she does. So not sure exactally what to tie up. If she was fishing here we all know what works in our river. Trout flies are always good all over the world. I am gone to Fernie for the CFFC tomorrow until next Sunday. But I'll tie up the flies as soon as I get back home. Rob
  7. Not sure where your going to find the blueberry flavored ones. I have dyed many feathers and fur with Koolaid. The only thing I'd suggest is that you should add in 1/2 cup of vinegar to your mixture. It seems to help with setting the color. I know some people that even stick their stuff in the microwave to get a quicker dye set. But I'm OK with leaving my stuff sit overnight. Good luck with your search. Rob
  8. Had a great one. Thanks guys. Got some nice gifts from my wife. The only one I can tell you about though is the new LED taillights for my truck. Man are those babies bright at night.
  9. Jack's got a pretty good list there. Not that Jack knows anything about fishing around Kamloops. Not that I know any more about fishing that area than Jack. But I also have a few to add to the list. Of course there are lots of colors of chironomids to choose from. I do like a black with red rib, or a green with red butt. Use a Tiemco 2457 hook in size 12 to 18. If your tying chironomids then be sure to taper them from the butt to the head. A common mistake is to either make them all uniform in size from butt to the head. Or to make them too bulky. Also another tip is to coat them when your finished with 3 coats of your favorite finish. I use one of about 3 things depending on which is closest at hand. Either Sally Hanson's clear nail polish (the cheapest one by far), or Hard as Hull (The most expensive by far), or brushable locktite "crazy glue". 3 coats of either product will give you a nice coating on the chironomid and make it very durable. I do love using goomphus in that area. They are a dragon fly nymph made with spun deer hair. I like them either in olive or natural color. They both work amazing. The other one's that I'd add are a black/red leech and an olive sparkle leech. I think we'd all be missing the boat if we didn't add in a pumpkin head. The pumpkin heads and the goomphus can be picked up at the Kamloops Fly Shop. They have a never ending supply there. Besides Ron is a great guy to deal with. So even if you don't tie some of these up for your buddy, then tell him to go see Ron and he'll not only get some great flies. But he'll likely get some great information. I'd tell you my secret fly. But then I'd have to kill you. ................... Rob
  10. Don, why wouldn't you want a road kill one. I grab the tails from fresh road kill ones all the time. They make killer streamers. If you want a "fresh" road kill one. I'll keep my eye's open and grab the next "fresh" one I see and fire it off in the mail to you. Can you imagine the drug sniffing dogs at the Post office when that package comes across them? Actually I will even skin it and salt it for you if you'd like. They are all over the city. So it's only a matter of keeping an eye out. Rob
  11. Colin I have bought it from Nevada Bob's right next to the Fish'n Hole. It's exactally the same thickness and price (Roughly $4.50 a pack) as the stuff sold at The Fish'n Hole. If you need some I'll be happy to give you some. I bought a few packs last time I was there. Just as a side note. I cut mine into 1/6" to 1/8" strips. So it goes a long ways. I've been using it for tying Czech Nymphs. But it is good for weighting any nymphs. Rob
  12. My wife and I had parked at the Sam Livinston fish hatchery and walked over to the weir to watch the pelicans fish. There must have been 200 pelicans there. I was sitting there watching the pelicans when a disabled guy wheeled his wheelchair to the platform at the top of the stairway. He had a rod with him and sat there for at least a half an hour getting it ready to fish. Then when he was finally ready to fish he looked in front of him. There on the wall in direct view of him was a sign "no fishing within 25m of the weir". I was not sure if he was just going to ignore it or not. But he packed up his rod and rolled away. I kind of felt sorry for the guy. But rules are rules. Rob
  13. When in Whistler go to Alta Lake and fish for the cuthroat there. They can be pretty feisty. Talk to Brian Niska or one of his staff at Whistler Fly Fishing. They are always willing to give free advice out to visitors. If your looking for a guide, they have a bunch of very skilled guides as well. If your going to be in Jasper. Then I'd definately put Maligne Lake on my list of places to fish. Tight lines and have a great trip. Rob
  14. I have a GPX that I have fished for approximately 1 full season. Just found the other day that the end loop has come appart. It has just come appart not at the end of the loop. But at the beginning of the loop on one side of the loop. I will be bringing it back and see if I can get warranty on it. As for a new line though I think I'm going to go with a Rio Grand. I like the fact that it is weighted slightly heavier than the Rio Gold in the same wt catagory. I think it will match up nicely with my 10' 5wt Sage Z axis. I was also looking at the Rio nymph line. I think I will get one of those as well. I like the idea of having a strike indicator built right into the line for nymphing. I have tried this line before on a friends rod and really liked it. Rob
  15. Nice pictures. Those colors in the brown are just stunning. Rob
  16. I couldn't agree more. Fancy lines don't fix poor casting basics. Now having said that there are so many different lines out there. I have a lot of fly rods and have uplined my lines on several rods to see the difference. Some I like and others I don't. It really depends on the line and the rod. Is the rod a slow, medium or fast rod? Is it somewhere in between? What type of fishing do you do? Do you really need to cast a rod 60' to catch a fish? Or can you catch one right in front of you at 10'? I once heard someone who was just down river from me ask Barry Smith as he drifted by with some clients, where all the fish were. Barry's reply was " Your standing on them". Too funny. There are so many variables. Here is a link to Rio's website. Have a look there and compare what they say for each line to your particular rod. There is some great information out there if your willing to do some reading. Rob
  17. I got my copy of What Fish See from amazon.ca . It's an interesting perspective for sure. Rob
  18. Here's a picture of a stimulator and a link if you want to tie some up. http://copperfly.net/stimulator.php I usually tie them on an 8 or a 10 2X hook. Enjoy Rob
  19. Holy crap. John I have a $50 bill sitting in my wallet for you. All I have to do is drop by and get a couple of tickets. But everytime I think of it I get carried away with something else. Tomorrow I'm going fishing right after work. So I'll have to see if I can either make it after work on Friday or on the weekend for sure. Rob
  20. I posted this under Sponsor Announcements but I'd like to find someone, so I thought I might post it here also and maybe have a better chance of finding the person if more people see the posting. I was at the TUL tackle swap today. I had the first table to the left as you came in. Right beside Jim McLennan. I was selling some rod blanks and rod building supplies. I sold one reel seat and a cork grip to a gentleman. When he left though the button end for the reel seat dropped onto my table. It was a few minutes before I realized that I had the end of his reel seat. I looked around the hall, but couldn't see where he had gone. So if any of you out there know someone who bought a cork grip and a reel seat at the show today please have them contact me and I'll be happy to get it to them. (403) 831-3474 Thanks in advance, Rob
  21. I was at the sale to day and I have to say that in 2 hours there were quite a few people that came through. I had the first table to the left as you came in. Right beside Jim McLennan. I was selling some rod blanks and rod building supplies. The reason I'm posting this is that I need your help. Thanks Rob
  22. Don't know about the reception issue. My son who's 21 went and got himself a tattoo today. He's been wanting to get it for about 2 years. I told him it's not my body so it's not my decision. I'm not paying for it. So I don't care one iota if he does it. Now you have to know something. Absoutely no one in our family has ever gotten a tattoo. I get home today and he shows it to me. Absolutely friggen amazing. It's a ying/yang with a mixed tribal sort of a design. The guy who did it is a true artist. He got it done at Deadly Tattoos on 58th ave SW, near Chinook. Check out their site. Man do they have some tallented artists working there. http://deadlytattoos.com/section/3630.html Now my wife wants to go get one. Just jokingly I told him I want a rainbow trout grabbing a fly. My son says that's what he's getting us for christmas this year. Tatoo's for my wife and I both. Oh oh. Here goes the neighbourhood. Rob
  23. The worst part is the Oilers have drafted him. Apparently they are in negotation with him at the moment and are trying to get him to come and start playing at the beginning of next season. It would be amazing to watch him play. But we'd all hate him. I saw Christian Husalius do some goals just like that in the skills competition when he was just farting around. Too damn bad he never tried that durring the games. Too bad he just didn't shoot more period.
  24. My wife wants me to go look at a new truck in the morning. The problem with that is I just bought a brand new one in May of last year. The darn thing isn't even a year old. Women. If it's not bright, shiny and new then it's old and needs to be replaced. I say if they want to stimulate the economy just give all this stimulous money to the women of the world. They'll have it spent in a heartbeat and will stimulate the economy more than all the damn banks and car companies that can't get their **** together. Rob
  25. Your right on the money Tallieho. I have a few of Jack Shaw's books. Fly Fish the Trout Lakes, and Tying Flies for Trophy Trout. But I certainly don't have that fancy one that Jack has. Jack, dad, buddy old pal. If you could see it in your heart could you put that one to me in your will? Rob, your forever greatfull son.
