  1. Nice little box there Dryfly. It's amazing how much one can put in even something that compact. You are so right Conor. I worry any time I have to leave that box in my truck for any length of time. I usually don't leave it in. Unless I'm going to be close by. Tie1on24, that is a nice little carrying case. But the $169 price tag would scare most people away. Rob
  2. That has taken a number of years to get to that point. I had to straighten it up quite a bit for the picture. It doesn't always look that neat and tidy. My wife bought me that box for Christmas when my handle from my old box broke. It had just a wee bit of a weight issue. When I went through to load this box up I found double and tripple things that I had aquired over the years. But at least now I know where everything is. Rob
  3. This looks like it should shape up to be fun. I'll be happy to donate a fly rod antenna for your prize list. Rob Owner Kingfisher Rodbuilding and Supplies
  4. I have a Plano container that I use for my fly tying portable stuff. Here is a few pics. Top of box. Tinsel, floss. First layer. Tools, thread, hooks, beads. Second layer. Flashabou, coneheads, barbells, chenille, vice and base, rubber legs, bottles of head cement, hard as hull, flexcement. Bottom layer. Bucktails, calf tails, marabou, pheasant tails, capes, hackles, squirel tails, deer hair, and all the other things I can't find a place for. Plus a few books for good measure. Rob
  5. My wife and I went to Cozumel last March. I built a fast 9'6" 8wt to bring down there. I got a guide to take me bone fishing. It was an absolute blast. I would highly recommend Adolfo Sr. or Adolfo Jr. Adolfo Sr. is about 65 and his son is about 30. I went with Sr. and he was not only a great guide but he was funny as well. The first bonefish I caught he looks over to me and says "Bambino" (Baby). Ya it was small only a pound and a half. But to me it was as big as a whale. I was pumped. We caught bones all day long. I ended the day by catching a nice little baracuda on the fly. Here is the information from the business card that I got from my guides. Most of it is in spanish. But I'm sure everyone will be able to do the loose translation of it. The main thing is that the phone numbers are there. Asociacion de Prestadores de Servicios y Guias Profesionales de Pesca Deportiva en Cozumel, A.C. Adolfo Vazquez Castillo GUIA ESPECIALIZADO EN LAGUNAS BONE FISH VIAJES ROBINSON CRUSOE 65 Av. Bis No. 632 X Hidalgo y privada Hidalgo Fracc. Cuzamil Cozumel, Q. Roo, Mex. 77624 Tel. 872-5622 evenings Cel. 044 987 87 64 053 Adolfo Sr. and his son Adolfo Jr. were just fantastic and I sure wouldn't have any problem recommending them to anyone going to Cozumel. They said they also fish for Permit, Tarpon, Snook and other fish depending on the time of year and of course the conditions. They charged me only $250 USD for the day. I tipped them well plus I gave them a bunch of flies that I had tied. They liked that because they can't get tying supplies down there. They said that the best times for bones is durring July, August and September but the tourists aren't there then. Apparently it's hotter there then, but the wind doesn't blow as much then. I was there in March and caught bones all afternoon long. The wind did come up later in the day. But that's typical anywhere I've fished in the Caribean. You can expect wind in the afternoon. Make sure you have a good fast 8wt rod to punch through the wind. My next trip is to Cuba for bones in May. But I will be going back to Cozumel for sure. Rob
  6. Nice one Brunsie. Thanks a lot. I spit coke out my nose and all over my keyboard when I read that one. Rob
  7. For 20 years or more I tied with a clamp type vice. Then one day I found a pedestal base for sale and thought that might be nice for when I travel. I bought it and tried it at home. Since then I don't think I've used the clamp even once. The benifit to the pedestal is obvious. Mobility. You never have to worry about having a table to clamp to. You don't have to worry even if there is a table or not. Or if your going to mark up a table. I can tie where ever I want. I don't think I'll ever tie with a clamp on my vice again. Rob
  8. Just got home from this evenings show. It cirtainly had a save our waters theme for the Bristol Bay area. Which is slated for an open pit mine called the Pebble Mine. It's proposed by Northern Dynasty Minerals. This proposed mine is apparently going to be put at the headwaters of Lake Iliamna which have one of the largest runs of sockeye salmon. Here's a quote from the website of AEG Media who put the film on. They nailed it. All I can say is there was plenty of fish porn all night long. It made all who were present feel like they were right there with the folks on videos. Rob
  9. Sure your right Weedy. But wouldn't you love to own one? It's all about supply and demand. I love that breakfast Tako. Although mine would be FullThrottle and a Large DD. Rob
  10. Tickets are now gone. Thanks Bigbadbrent. Have a good time at the show. Cheers, Rob

  12. Like him or hate him. The guys at his shop put out some unique vehicles. http://jalopnik.com/361391/boyd-coddington...-dead-at-age-63
  13. I've had the pleasure of fishing in Whistler a number of times. As many have said Brian Niska, from Whistler Fly Fishing is the guy you'll want to talk to. He's got great guides and is super knowledgeable of the area. Even if you choose not to use their guiding service still go talk to Brian. He's one of the most unselfish people you'll ever have the pleasure of meeting. Not sure if Alta Lake will have ice on it still. But when the ice comes off of it there is some great cutthroat fishing to be had there. I've fished it a few times and had some stellar days there. Alta Lake is right near down town so if you click on the weather network then you'll find out exactally the temperature for Alta Lake too. I just took a peek and the temperature is going to be 1 to 3 C all week with periods of rain and snow. Typical spring conditions in Whistler. Your a lucky guy having to go there and train. I'm sure you'll be able to train and fish all winter long. *Just as a side note. Brian is looking for someone in to work in his store. If your looking for a part time job while there I'd give him a call. Tell him Rob The Fishn Nut told you to come see him. I just had to do an edit. If you've ever thought of trying spey fishing there is the place to do it. Lots of places to do it and lots of large fish to keep you happy. Brian just happens to be a fantastic teacher of fly casting, be it spey or single handed. I've got my spey lesson already booked for this spring with him. Rob
  14. Well it's going to happen tonight in just a few hours. Make sure you get your glasses on and get out and have a look. Rob
  15. Glad to see you got your vehicle back Din. I have almost the same truck. I suppose it's time to think about putting in an alarm or at the least an immobilizer. Which part of the city did you guys have your vehicles stolen from? Rob
  16. I didn't even realize it until I read your post. Then I watched it again and clearly you can see the pike come and hit the grayling and his hand. That had to shock the heck out of the guy. Rob
  17. "They" say that the price of gas could reach $1.50 a liter this summer. Damn greedy oil companies. After Hurricane Katrina they've come up with excuse after excuse to keep the price of oil high and bump it up higher and higher. Were at their mercy and there is nothing anyone can do. That is except fork out the extra cash. Rob
  18. I can remember fishing at Police in the early 80's. There were some very nice fish caught back then. Oh my gawd I'm sounding like an old man now. Oh well I suppose I've earned a few grey wiskers over the years. I haven't been down to fish Police in years. I suppose I'll have to make a few trips down there and check it out. Cheers, Rob
  19. That's a great question Conor. Give them a shout and see. Here's there info. Springbrook Manufacturing 403-243-3308 3809 9 Street SE , Calgary , AB T2G 3C7
  20. Thanks guys. I see my impeckable reputation will follow me where ever I go. Brunsie, you are one of a kind, and it's a damn good thing they can't clone you. Hey buddy, I still have some foam tubes for you to cut up and use on your oars. We need to get together for a cold one. Then I'll bring a few of them for you. Colin, that's one nice looking picture of you with that fish. I wonder who would possibly have taken such a great quality photograph? Hey guys, I just had some really cool stuff shipped in. It's fishing rod antenna's. They come in 3 styles. Fly reel, spinning reel, and bait caster reel. They look so cool, and they are an actual working antenna. I'll take a few pictures and post them in the Trading Post. I've got about a dozen left. But I've ordered another 50. Too darn bad they didn't get here a month ago. Or I could have sold a hundred by now. Cheers all Rob
  21. Hey all. I just came across this site and figured I'd drop in and say hello. I'm not new to fishing or to Alberta. Just new to this site. Rob
