  1. Conor, See previous (recent) post in the "General Chat" section... He/she may want to consider paying a little more, i.e. you get what you pay for (IMHO - and a few others). That being said, I hear Wardell (sp?) are pretty economical and pretty decent. If your friend wears size 10 boots, I have a pair of brand new Patagonia wading boots FS (even tough expensive they have a life time warrantee - referencing the earlier posts I mentioned). If your friend is considering neoprene, he/she will be too hot in the spring/summer/fall... Just my $0.02. Peter
  2. Nick, Northover Ridge is a great trip! Can be done in three days (I did it in two and was supposed to stay at Three Isle the third night, but decided to walk the 10 km out instead). If you camp in BC just over the Aster Col, you don't have to pay. The Turbine Canyon (North Kananaskis Pass) trip is SPECTACULAR as well and you can go over the French/Haig Glaciers and come out across from Chester and that would definitely stretch that one out to 4 days (would need glacier travel exp.)! Why don't you head up to Jasper and try to get on the Skyline - a Rockies Classic or down to Waterton to avoid the crowds! If you want more info, PM me I have some awesome photos of all the trips I mentioned! Peter
  3. Fish432, Of course you know I'm just kidding Lots of hatch charts listed online, and as I've already mentioned on his site. Good luck and happy tying! P
  4. Rich, you should know better... You brew your own coffee, doesn't take that much more time to make your own (healthy) breakie either :P P
  5. I have stories like this as well - regarding patagonia (very rare mind you) but if it ever happens, they stand by their products! PERIOD!! No questions, no fuss, no muss!! And you can't beat their environmental ethic, etc. If you ever get the chance to read "Let My People Go Surfing" READ IT!! P
  6. Being an outsider, that info will cost ya!! :P So book a walk and wade with maxwell or another of our stellar guides P P.S Scroll through the "reports" thread, you should find all the info you'll need... P.S.S. Oh yeah, save some of the fish for us locals
  7. I've heard of lots of returns b/c of leaks! The ones my buddy tried on at Wholesale had 2 left feet (quality control issues, I'd say). Go with the Simms! P
  8. No, no... No fight! I completely agree! Service (relationship) is HUGE! And yes back on topic... The sizing for the Simms waders definitely changed when they changed models... P
  9. I guess another important consideration is amount of savings... Is it going to be worthwhile (when adding in shipping, gst., brokerage, duty, etc.)?! And that's going to be realative, depending on how cheap one is!!
  10. The last thing I wanted was a drop down drag out... So where do you draw the line... Is "Whole Sale" considered "Big Box" and Fishtales, Troutfitters, etc. considered local! They all carry [or will carry] Sage rods... So do you test one particular rod at only one place or see what other options/availability/price there is (they may or may not even have the same models)... I agree that local shops have a great purpose and I'm all for supporting shops and staff that provide stellar service, info, training, advise, etc., (and I do!!!) but sometimes price is the only factor... P
  11. Rusty, yes you may consider it "weak", but in reality, it's called capitalism! Tons of people bought cars down in the States when the Canadian dollar went up! Speaking of car dealerships... Does one naturally only go to one dealer and test drive only at that dealer?! Here's a novel idea, walk into that same store and if they have the same model/size, etc. ask then to match the price?! If they can't or don't then I guess it really doesn't matter! P
  12. Go to a store locally that sells that brand and they may have that particular model if available for you to try on (new old stock)... Even if the exact size/style/model isn't available they may fit similar to what they have on hand ("may"). I've always been told that a little bigger isn't a bad thing especially if you are going to be fishing "shoulder season", if too small you'll most likely put stress on the seems and possibly blow them... Hope this info is helpful! P

    Cuba Si!

Way to go! Nice fish and I'm jealous as hell!! P
  14. Angler, I have a great tutorial on how to set up itunes off of a external to free up memory on the internal HD. If your interested I'll try to find it (or do a search on "MacinTouch" that's where I found the info. Pretty straight forward... Also set up my iphoto off of the the external!! P
  15. Hope you have a great day Mike! Cheers! P
  16. As I mentioned previously use a waterproof membrane between the green/blue/concrete board tiles and it'll last for 30 + years!! Yes overkill, but worth the extra $ and a great reselling feature (take photos)! P
  17. If this was in anyway directed towards my comments (though I don't think so), what I meant was "concrete board" not a concrete wall! P
  18. Yeah once the water gets in, you're hooped!! Sealing it with silicone after the fact will do nothing! If it's just one or two tiles, pull the tile(s) (without breaking it/them, if possible) and dry the area out completely. You can just replace the tile(s) and re-grout (matching the grout colour might be an additional challenge if non-white). When prying the tiles off, make sure to protect the tiles around it/them so you don't chip/crack them. Don't leave it alone, it won't be long until all the tiles start falling off and mold would definitely be an issue (don't ask, but my exp. with regards to that - previous owner did a patch job with a surround and I ended up gutting the entire stall and the mold behind there was unbelievable (glad I gutted it). Also, if you don't a have a fan in that particular bathroom, put one in!! P
  19. There are attachments for rotary tools as suggested or a hand grout removal tool. I have used both and start with the rotary tool then use the hand tool for finishing up/cleaning the gap. It's pretty straight forward, but make sure you use the proper grout for the application and then silicone the grout lines afterwards as per directions of the product. Any "how to " type of book can walk you through it, or info available online. It is a tedious process to remove grout for an entire shower/bath... If it's just a repair it isn't too bad. If just a repair make sure the area is dried out completely and that all surrounding tiles haven't been compromised. If the dry wall underneath is at all wet - rip it all down and start for scratch and put in a proper waterproof membrane so that it never happens again (forget green/blue board, etc. - go with concrete AND membrane no matter what anyone says! As with rock climbing, always back up your system!!! Do you want it to last 5 years or 30?! Not a plumber but just a handy guy, though often handy men don't make good plumbers, so if in doubt get a pro (plumber/tile setter - not always one in the same, however)! Cheers! Peter
  20. Hey Colin! I hope you're having a great day! Let's get out thee one of these days! Cheers! Peter
  21. I use both a "slip cast" and/or a single haul when fishing streamers. Unfortunately, I'm not experienced enough to describe "hauling", but slip casting alone can provide ample loading when using a heavier fly (streamer), especially while using a/n (intermediate) sinking line or sink tip, IMO. Not sure if this info is helpful, but I hope it is, somewhat... Peter
  22. Craig, What do you mean by "ldr'ing"? P
  23. Isn't it "half the size of the gap" Or the size of the gap?! P
