  1. It was the Friends of Fish Creek Park. I was speaking to them this morning and helping (a very little bit) in between drifts!! Wanted to know what they were doing with the bags (as I'm one of the organizers for our clean up July 26th and they said the city was collecting the bags (the city won't do it for us!)! Peter
  2. Gang, I will be attending with my father and 9 y/o nephew... Is anyone else bringing children?! If possible, I'd like my nephew to meet some children around his age... Please let me know... Thanks, Peter
  3. Kewl! Never would have thought that the two would mesh!! Thanks for the post (and pod)! P
  4. I use a Duncan exclusively!! I even think it's a better knot when using swivels!! Easier to tie with gloves on or when cold and faster too! The only time I use a clinch (improved or otherwise) is when my tag end is small. As many have suggested put your bb over your swivel when nymphing! Works like a charm!! Just my $0.02. P
  5. Yes there are a few holes & runs worth fishing. Usually later afternoon and evening week days or weekends to avoid rafters and dog walkers (as previously mentioned)... Makes a pretty good float from Bearspaw Dam to Shouldice (~3 hours) Kensington (~4 hrs) and Zoo (~5 hrs) depending on water levels. I reco floating as you can hit some better water and again avoid the people on the banks (for the most part)... Contact me after June 1st and I'd be happy to show you a few spots and help you out... Cheers, Peter
  6. Cool eyes!! Nice shot, what do you shoot with?! P
  7. T & T just in the news today about health code violations (4 times in a row)!!
  8. Guy, Come join us for the Benchmark Fish Out on the 9th & 10th weekend!! http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?...amp;event_id=44 http://gateway.cd.gov.ab.ca/pubsandmedia/P...chure%20WEB.pdf Peter
  9. Glenmore Rez, Chesterslu, I mean Chestermere, Glennifer (Dickson), Sylvan, Pine Lake, Buffalo... I'd fish for the pickerel in most of those over the jacks! P
  10. Point taken... Thanks for all the info! P
  11. Brent, That's why I mentioned that we be specifically "in the park"!! P
  12. Gang, A buddy of mine wants me to head to Cypress Hills with him for the May long weekend, as we've been trying to plan a running weekend (no jokes please) and since neither of us have been to that part of the province, it might be a good spot for some early season training... I've read "a little" bit of info regarding fishing within the area, but can't find any specifics (not looking for any secret holes, etc., but looking at fairly detailed info on possibly some fishing spots, access, etc.). Fishing Alberta did a spot on the area a few years back, but I think they had access to a private lake... From what I've found, the three lakes in the park are Elkwater Lake (Pickerel, whities and pike), Spruce Coulee Reservoir and Reesor Lake (trout?). Also, won't be floating any of the lakes, but what about shore access?! What about any fishable streams/rivers?! I know I found a photo of one on this site... But it was just a photo, with no other info attached... We will be staying with the park... Any info would be appreciated Thanks in advance... Peter
  13. Nigel, Are you supposed to be curing cancer or something!! You have WAY too much time on your hands (or you wife is still back in the UK!!) :P P
  14. He offers great products, a great service!! Peter
  15. I know your game!! You just want to get me into your store so that I can (potentially) spend $ I ain't got!! lol  Thanks for the offer Brent, but I think I can handle it!! Don't tell me (nor Mike) that you are this bored sitting around the shop on a blistery Sunday afternoon?! :P P
  16. I'm sure the "girth" of a fish would influence how long it actually looks, as well as the parallax (look that one up Brent) ! P
  17. In reading (and re-reading) this thread, I would like to remind all of us (though this may have already been pointed out, subtlety...), one (ultimately) tries to match a particular rod to their style of cast, would it be fair to say that we should match the type of line to each of our casting style(s), also?! So casting ain't just an art, eh... Hmmm ;-) P
  18. Yup when they are larger then what I know the length of my net to be... Bought my retractible tape measure for $1.49 and Walmart in the sewing section!! P
  19. Courtney, What kind of loop knot is used for this, so that the knot isn't bulky (please illustrate if possible) - as opposed to using a loop connecter where the transition is smooth?! What (if any) is your (or other's) exp. with SA's L2L connect system... Good, bad or ugly?! Peter P.S. In re-reading your response I think you use a nail knot to secure the standing and running ends of your loop that are parallel to each other, nes pas?! And do not actally tie a loop knot, per se?! Therefore it's a fairly smooth transition... Along with that, what material do you use for the nail knot, mono or dacron?
  20. Rick, Your Glenbow chronie didn't break (opps sorry I revealed)? P
  21. Rod wise, that's what I was planning... What wt?! I have a 5 wt with floating and my 6 wt streamer rod with a spool of inter clear cortland and another spool of SA streamer express... P
  22. I thought you planned for you and your new girlie friend to sleep in the civic?! I'm going to be asking my gf's bro-in-law if we can borrow their camper!! :P Party at our site!! P
  23. I can roll up my SST and it'll fit in the back pocket of my vest with room to spare, so I would guarantee that the DWJ will, as well! P
  24. Gang, What gear do y'all reco for Police Outpost Lake... I haven't fly fished still waters but I'm thinking 14' leaders, sinking lines (inter or fast), chonies, scuds, other emergers, leeches, shrimp patterns?! I've heard that for summer still waters damsel fly nymph patterns are good... What else?! Any/all advise is appreciated Thanks in advance... Cheers, Peter
