  1. If you end up with "fast action" rod (i.e., quite stiff) you may want to over line it "slightly". I think the SA "Head Start" is extremely good value for line. It is weighted a 1/2 weight heavier. I also have some exp. with SA GPX, as well and it is also a tad bit heavier. I am not as familiar with other brands, but I'm sure there are other bands that are the similar, but with Head Start, you'd be hard pressed to find something similar for $35 - $40!! Again, just my opinion... In a perfect world shops would have a variety of reels pre-loaded with a bunch of lines for you to cast on various rods, but I'm sure most do not... P (
  2. I 2nd it! Very good advise!! P
  3. Bump! Figured it out!
  4. Yeah the TFO TiCr & TiCrX are good rods, but I'd have to say that a lower end Sage or High end Redington (at the discounted prices which are even lower in cost then a TFO TiCr[X]) are superior to a high end TFO, any day, IMHO, of course. (To qualify that statement, yes I have owned a TiCr, and currently own both rods I speak of). And of course there are many, many other quality rods in your price range, as well! P
  5. Sage FLI (Monod's in Banff still has some and if you ask I'm sure they would discount it as it is a discontinued model - they did for me last week), or the new version the Flight - redily available at many fly stores. Redington CPS is also discounted b/c of a model change as well. For $400 you have quite a choice. You should also be able to find something around 3 oz, but definitely cast with it and compare... Good luck! P
  6. It's red! Or it was!
  7. Was down at Fish Creek with Tightline today. Caught this big boy 25.5" (taped) also landed another at 23"!! Swinging streamers in the murk (I have to learn how to hold fish better !)!
  8. Yeah they were asked!! On another note... "The Friends of Fish Creek" do one after run off in the summer, but it's only within Fish Creek (obviously). P
  9. I hear F & W are stocking Mt. Lorette Pond this weekend and there is going to be media and dignitaries (Kline, etc.) and a bunch of hoopla for some unknown reason... Might be worth a drive if it's nice. P
  10. Yeah get more site sponsors to sponsor the event!!! QUOTE (theiceman2 @ May 7 2009, 08:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> please post some feedback and suggestions from last year on how to improve the event,
  11. Seeing that Sage and Redington are now the same company (and same warrantee ,distribution centre, etc.), maybe it's improved as the turn arond time. For my Redington was only a few weeks (but it was sent from just across the boarder - only $6 to send it, as opposed to $20+ up here!!) P
  12. Just received my rod back from Redington (sent in my CPS with a broken guide) and they replaced it with the new model the CPX!!! Great warrentee! Cheers, P
  13. Ouch!!
  14. Sean, Stop yer frickin whining!! 19/20" fish!! You should thank the almighty powers that be, that you are catching fish this size!! A lot of streams in North America, 19/20" fish is/are considered big!! Change your attitude, and maybe the fishing gods will take pity on you and grant you the privilege of hooking into (and landing) something substantially bigger. Kidding, of course, my friend! Be patient, sharpen your hooks, use side pressure and it will all come together for you - grasshopper P
  15. Done & Done! Thanks for all your help everyone! Cheers! Peter
  16. Thanks Birch, I'll give it a try! Cheers, P
  17. I have some tenants that are no longer paying to share so need to change it so they can't use it. P
  18. Mac users and computer knowledgeable types. I'm wanting to change my router network and password (Hawking HWRGM1A) and haven't been able to do it via the manual instructions or by simply deleting the previous network name/password and renaming. Can anyone walk me through the process (in laymen's lingo, please) PM me direct if necessary. Thanks, Peter
  19. Matt, You look like a drunk fool, casting with your good arm!! LOL P
  20. Are you injesting it or inhaling particles! If so, how?! Kidding of course, but you needn't be worried...
  21. Sean, If it's cracking, you need new line! I have heard of people that clean their line after every outing - a bit excessive IMHO. Maybe cleaning every 4th, 5th or 10th, depending on how often you get out... P
  22. Interesting that PC was the first to ban lead, but still allows barbed hooks... Hmmm P
  23. Have a great day Mike! Keep on keep'in on! Peter
