  1. ever see the complete list of pics from which this one was taken - i think its basically redneck boat, redneck grill etc etc (but real red necks none of this you live in ab you must be a red neck nonsense)? hi-larry-ee-ous.......
  2. tell you what i'll bring a few to show you when we go searching for the unknown trout waters........i've got a selection for my daily "uniform"......
  3. $200 on #30 $50 on #40a
  4. if jarome is not traded prior to this year's draft for one or more draft picks & players he will be traded at the deadline next season if the flames are again floundering....and as of now there's no reason to believe they won't be.....
  5. didn't hear it myself but from what i read about the king/sutter press conference yesterday we can expect the status quo for next year. wish the ownership had done what tampa bay did on monday.... hawgstoppah i can't see how this team can compete as is....a #1 centre will help but how the heck would we pay for that given the cap situation. and then what about secondary scoring? seems pretty important to have 2 lines that are threats to score. can't see a team taking on any of the bad contracts....langkow, sarich, kotalik, staios and dare i say it regehr (could get a much cheaper stay at home defenseman who would be as effective as he was this year - although maybe he just had an off year? - but a team may very likely take on that contract so i wouldn't be surprised to see him go). and presumably they will resign white....at what cost? gotta be in the $1.5 to 2mm neighbourhood. what are we going to do about a backup goaler? another young guy that gets thrown to the wolves and eaten alive every time he gets between the pipes? can't see signing toskala for a reasonable amount....another team may take a chance on him as a starter and pay him accordingly....although i don't know why...otherwise kipper gets overworked yet again....at some point all those minutes will catch up to him.... a real concern is we really have no young talent coming up...between bad drafting and trading away draft picks we seem to be in a pretty tough position to try and even change the makeup of the team. perhaps there's some talent in abbotsford i don't know about but the future doesn't seem very bright in that regard.... as for the oilers it seems to me that in their favour they have a lot of younger players with potential upside (although a number don't seem to be panning out for them). and don't they have eberle's rights? and get to choose hall or sequin this year? those players along with the younger guys they already have seem to give them a leg up in rebuilding on the flames. this year they were hit so hard with injuries it seems a bit unfair to compare them to the flames who had virtually no injury problems. although with souray wanting out there must be some problems in that organization as it seems that players don't want to go there or once they get there want out after a short time.... i just hate to think about another middle of the road (if that) for the flames....
  6. i think if you get rid of one sutter you've got to get rid of them all. brent was a good coach in junior but not so much in the nhl....at least what has he done in the last 3 years? the new gm may want a say on a coaching staff. darryl has had his chance and i think this year has been a disaster. hard to believe that we couldn't have received more for phaneuf....even though he does seem to wear the role of overrated rather well. and kotalik? higgins? those guys looked out of place on the flames. we need a complete change of philosophy. we're old and slow. langkow at $4.25 million? signing stajan to a $3mm/contract? seems a bit high when you consider what vancouver signed some of their guys for recently. who's the backup goalie next year? toskala? will he sign for a reasonable salary as backup? i don't want jarome to go but perhas he is traded for younger players/draft choices as part of a rebuilding process? hell give him a chance to play on a contender when he still has the skill to score 40+ goals and get something for him now to help the future. darryl has not shown he can draft and nurture young talent (or even recognize talent for trades?!?!). in fact given his preference for trading away draft choices it seems as though he doesn't think that's a good way to build a team. and the draft choices he has made are pretty much all busts....although backlund seems to be showing some potential now. i'm thinking we're going to have a few rebuilding years that may be a bit painful for us fans. but i'm hoping at least rebuilding will start now. if it were my team, on monday, apr 12, king and all sutters would be shown the door - they've had their chance. don't hesitate. get out there and get new mgt and coaching staff in place asap and get started on rebuilding the flames into a team capable of contending. but what the f* do i know?! i liked the team a lot at the start of the year and in November dared to think they would contend in the conference this year.
  7. and then the winning goal with .3 seconds in ot in vancouver - stupid canucks - erhoff should have tackled zetterberg given how much time was left. luongo sure didn't look that sharp on the daytsuk and zetterberg goals. the canucks won't get far in the playoffs if he doesn't play better. he hasn't been very good since the olympics (and wasn't exactly stellar there either).
  8. bhurt don't get me wrong i'm still a flames fan but i believe you can be a fan and also be realistic about your team's ability (will they win 9 of their last 13 i say no based on their current play). i cheered for the flames for all the years they didn't make the playoffs and will continue to cheer for them. but i don't believe they're anywhere near holding the stanley cup. i don't think you can say that sutter's done an awesome job since he arrived. he certainly put together some teams that won some games but other than 2004 what is there to show for it? at some point i would expect the ownership group to start thinking maybe it's time for a change....be nice to have more than 2 or 3 playoff games for revenue purposes. and the current version of the flames? ay carumba i can only assume that sutter's got a plan to revamp over the summer. Kotalik? Higgins? Hagman? Those guys are hardly the ones to build the future of the team on. And no draft picks in the first 2 rounds this year? Ouch. sutter has had his chance and perhaps it's time to move on and try something else..... i do agree that playing in the nw division and western conference has historically been tougher than some of the eastern teams have to deal with. esp when you factor in travel. but can't use that as an excuse. but as i alway say go flames go.
  9. i'd say the sharks would get a break if they were to play the flames. can't see the flames beating anyone is a 7 game series even the sharks. and it doesn't look like nashville is dropping off either. doubt very much the flames will pull it together to make the playoffs. let the golfing jokes begin.....
  10. regardless of the current winning streak and whether or not they squeak into the playoffs (i'm thinking 8th with the preds falling off and wings in 7th although the flames have the toughest remaining schedule, followed by another first round exit) who thinks that the sutters will be still in charge next year? i've been a supporter of Darryl till now but it seems as though he's had his chance to make the team into a contender and has been unable to even get close to contending for a cup. is this new version of the flames just a stop gap measure until he can put into play a plan for next year? can't see this version of the flames being much better than the one that started the year.
  11. no doubt that kipper was not playing well but the defense totally sucked too....and yes 1 goal rarely wins games. boy did they look bad last night. no one looked like they were up for the game. not one player really stepped up and tried to get it done. it was no fun sitting there with all the canucks fans cheering all night long....
  12. ay carumba what's with the inconsistency in the flames play. great november and a terrible december. was at the blues game last week. the first period was ok with some good scoring chances even though they were outshot. but then next 2 periods the flames could never muster any kind of sustained attack. going to the game today and unless the flames pull up their socks it's going to be pretty tough to beat the canucks esp now that they are playing well. i don't like the thought of seeing the hated canucks beating us in the dome....hopefully the flames will get their *hit together today.
  13. finally a good complete game played and a win. the boys looked pretty good even though they did give up a fair number of shots and some pretty good chances to the habs (cammileri and gomez for example). one drawback was the o-fer on the pp. especially the last one. some decent control but not enough quality scoring chances. let's hope they can keep it rolling esp vs. the leafs on saturday.
  14. we have a dual flush caroma (australia) at 6l/3l and a toto 6l. both work very very well. i prefer the caroma for the dual flushing. and don't forge the best way to save water - yellow let it mellow, brown flush it down....
  15. i've pledged this year to ignore the reffing issues and concentrate on how the flames play. as fans we often feel out team is short changed but in reality the officiating is just plain inconsistent and often bad throughout the league. i'd say overall the flames have played well but inconsistently this year. and if jarome and ollie get on track look out....i say put them back on the same line and let them work it out together....goals will come.....
  16. was just saying to people in the office - same as Y2K.........
  17. was contacted by one of the insurance companies in the accident in 3. above. would think it was open and shut considering the truck ran a red light. but i dutifully filled in my witness statement. gotta believe that would be the end of my involvement (i hope).
  18. wondering if anyone else noticed any odd thing about traffic/drivers yesterday? by that i mean worse than normal as everyday people cruise through stop signs, don't signal, don't stop for pedestrians etc. but here's why i'm asking: 1. 8:45 on way to work. am stopped behind 2 other cars at a marked pedestrian crosswalk on 8th street sw for man to cross 8th st. about 8 - 10 seconds after stopping behind 2 other cars at the crosswalk an older lady driving an old ford taurus rams into the back of my car. doubt she hit the brakes at all the impact was so hard. pavement was dry. 2. 10:30 going to pick up my dtr for parent teacher interviews, a guy in a jeep talking on his cell phone drives right through a stop sign requiring me to brake not to hit him. 3. 11:30 after teacher interviews we are approaching the intersection of 47th Ave/Elbow Dr and a mid-size car is in front of me facing west on 47th at the red light. light turns green just as we arrive and the car proceeds into the intersection. an f-150 on elbow drives through the red light and hammers the car in the intersection. thankfully neither the woman or her young son were hurt. youngish woman in the truck is fine too. pavement was dry. my daughter is freaked out by the accident. 4. then on the way home from work i hear on cbc about all the accidents on the highways albeit weather related but still seemed to be a lot of them. wtf was up yesterday?
  19. from my reading of this issue it's not so cut and dry and the officer seems to have responded to an insult directed at him. sure if the student was using his head he would simply identify himself and end of issue. the video proves nothing imdao. canada is not a police state where the police get to do whatever they want whenever they want. we have certain rights ... at least for the time being.
  20. the real question is whether or not the rainbows (not the mutants cuz i doubt they would be) are catchable with fly gear? are there rising fish to cast too? hatches? and where in the heck on that giant lake would you even start looking for rainbows? as i recall it's deep too so i wonder about the whole FF possibility. caught pike in that lake growing up not far from the dam and learned to water ski on it but never really did much fishing on it otherwise.
  21. gotta call bs on the city for the more cars comment. how does removing the lines on the street create more parking spaces? there's only a finite amount of space in which to park regardless of lines or no lines. without lines or meters to indicate to people where to park there are going to be plenty of times when there is odd amounts of space around cars due to people not pulling up close enough to the car in front or the first person parking choosing to park and not leaving enough space in front or behind for another car. seen it a lot already. 20% more parking....no way is that happening.
  22. how do you figure that? thought it was just a different way to pay.
  23. i believe it's actually jantzen's and is very easy to find....just follow slingshotz directions.
  24. thanks all for the suggestions. i guess some of them are really obvious but i had forgotten about cataract creek. would someone enlighten me as to where it is again pls and thx.
  25. have got my daughter (12 y/o) fly casting. she does pretty well in the dog park but on the weekend not so well on the bow (as she said too much to pay attention to including not falling in the river). would appreciate any suggestions for places to take her where it is reasonably easy wading and a good chance to catch some fish....say cutties of any size on dry flies. preferably within a reasonable (1 hour or less) driving distance of calgary. thanks. james
