    Goodbye

All the best to you and you're family. I can say from experience that the memories do not fade.
  2. I have the offshore version.
  3. Sorta reminds me of the drama when a couple of guys were about to throw down over whether fishing in -35 was a reality or not. Wait a minute.......
  4. Brett's article is great. Got sent to me today by the way as something I should read.....
  5. No, I meant all the infighting. Locked threads usually didn't end well. I just had an image of a newby reading any of the fish handling threads and watching us yell at each other. "Welcome to the site! How do you like us so far?" Kind of like an intro to spey casting being one of the "I don't understand this spey casting thing" threads. Anyway, it was meant to be funny. Didn't work apparently!
  6. I'd ask you to post pictures, but I wouldn't want to get anyone in trouble.......
  7. You going to edit those?? Wouldn't want to scare anyone off!
  8. Happy birthday Lawrence!
  9. Good to read that. I hope it means this Lynx's docility does not mean it is starving and that it survives the winter.
  10. Amen brother.
  11. Sight casting to reds and specs in Pt Mansfield, Texas would not suck much. That said, The Bow fished very well today, wind and all!
  12. That is truly impressive. I bet the auction for it will be fun.
  13. Sigh.
  14. Already have a couple. She is making her coffee with one now cuz I'm too lazy to find the box with the cappuccino maker she bought at an estate sale years ago. There is actually 0 chance of me buying an expensive cappuccino/expresso maker. Same reason I don't own a high end fishing rod. I am exceedingly cheap.
  15. Sure wish I could have made it guys. I did take the afternoon off, but did not get off work until noon. Crow seemed a bit far for an afternoon fish! Hope to hook up after you guys get back for South America.
  16. These debates fascinate me. Why do we seem to feel it is necessary to defend our choice of gear by bashing someone elses choice of gear? If I choose to only fish water within 20 ft of the bank with a 3 wt or bomb a spey rod to a mid river seam, why would anyone else care? Fishing is about personal choice. If you enjoy your method and think it is the best, fine. But realize it is just the best for you. You do not get to decide what is best for someone else. People enjoy this sport in an infinite number of ways. There is no such thing as "the best." I also find the speed of landing fish debate interesting. I agree that a smaller rod will protect the tippet, and in the hands of an experienced fisherman that can lead to faster landing of fish with less break offs. For most of us however, I don't think we put nearly enough pressure on the fish with the small rod for fear of breaking off. We care too much if we land the big fish, and don't have the experience required to push the gear nearer to it's limits. At least I know I don't. I fish with my 3 wt on the bow from time to time and I know I don't land fish as quickly as I do with my 6. That is certainly more a function of me than the rod, but the result is the same.
  17. Yeah, but you probably use it wrong.
  18. The only question is whether you believe the Flames have a better chance of competing with San Jose/Detroit with Olli/leopold or Lombo/Proust. And if the difference is big enough to justify the loss of draft picks. But I agree that most (but certainly not all) trade deadline deals fail, in every sport. Oh, and it was nice meeting you at the florist rehsifylf. I'm sure Bert will love the roses I changed my mind and decided to send him a nice fruit arrangement.
  19. wow.
  20. Happy Birthday SD. Looking forward to the 2009 editions of your stories.
  21. Our Braun Cappuccino maker just gave up the ghost. Piece of crap was only 21 yrs old. I know this because it was a wedding present. This was given to us back in the day that you didn't need a $1500 Expresso/Cappuccino machine. I can feel my wallet getting lighter as we speak.
  22. Nick, Haven't seen the show, but I'm looking forward to checking it out. However, I am more fascinated as to how you heard about this thread. Do you follow this site? Do you know someone in Calgary and they told you about it? The first negative comment was at 11:40 and your reply was at 7:30, so like 8 hrs. (and very nice reply by the way. it can be difficult to rebut a comment on line and do it in a way that can only be interpreted as sincere). Anyway, best of luck with the show. Sorry for the hijack!
