The Elbow was really muddy today. How long does it usually take for the bow / elbow to clear up after rain like this?

I just got back from Tofino. I spoke with a former guide while I was there and he recommended Tonquin Park Beack. Just drive past the hospital. Turn right at the kids park and follow the signs. You can fish from 2 separate points (both to your right after you follow the path to the beach) for coho. I didn't get to fish for long (only an hour) but I saw quite a few rising while I was there. fish the channels between the point and the rocks on the first point. The second point has an eddy that forms when the tide goes out that is pretty good too. The guide I spoke with said it's one of his favourite spots. It's absolutely beautiful there even if you don't catch anything. I have heard that Grice bay is good too but didn't get a chance to try it. yes they are tastey! My greek gramma used to cook em up old country style. Sorry can't help you with the recipe but DonniM's advice is sure to work. Very tasty. I remember eatin the tail like a potato chip and chewin on the eyeballs to boot. Greeks don't waste anything. Don't think i'm as brave now as I was when I was 6.

Hey Dustin, I think we all go through the frustration and question whether we know shite all about anything after a few bad days out with no luck. I've been fishing the elbow quite a bit the past few years and it can be a really tough river. It's made me question whether I have any skills what-so-ever. Lately I have been having luck fishing dries close to the opposite shore where there is (1) slower water, (2) it's deep and (3) there are either sunken logs or overhanging banks close by for protection. For nymphs try the tops of runs or the top of where there are drop-offs / shelfs. Not everywhere that looks good will be good and you might have to cover a fair bit of water before you find something that's productive. Even then you'll usually spook the fish after you either land one or miss a couple of hits. And a spot that is productive one night will not show a single fish the next. I usually cover about 1km in about 2 hours, going from spot to spot. I'll know of about 4 or 5 good places to try in that distance and sit at each one for about 10-15 min before I know if it's going to produce or not. Tonight I caught 1 brown about 15" and missed 5 other small takes in about 2 hrs out on the elbow close to elbow springs. 2 nights ago I caught 2 browns 17" & 18" in less than 1 hr. 2 of the biggest browns on the elbow for me to date. They were both really fat and fought like crazy. Last fall I caught at 20" plus fat rainbow really close to bragg. I had to chase it down the river and barely landed it before the hook fell out it fought like crazy. All I can say is don't give up. It can be really rewarding when it finally starts to click. The elbow is definitely a challenge but hopefully this helps a bit. get back out there! brew

don't believe 'them'. sounds like you might have done some damage to your computer, but your harddrive might be fine, regardless of what 'they' tell you - based on experience (i've been told to chuck a 3000$ laptop - put the motherboard through the dishwasher and it was fine) Is it a laptop? if so, go buy this: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX21195(ME).aspx take your laptop harddrive out, put it in this enclusure and plug it into another computer like you would an external drive. grab your pictures. If that doesn't work, you might be able to try a data recovery utility. PM me if you need some advice on what to use.

johnson lake will be super busy with beachgoers during the day. Take yer swimsuit. There's a big rope swing too. If you're gonna fish there go in the evening. I've heard stories that the fish come in closer to the beach (on the left side) where the weeds are and it can be really good. The boat dock in town (behind the hospital) might be worth checking out. It's been years, but i used to fish there. The river splits there (off to vermillion) and the murky water meets with very clear water. Early evening would be best to try there as it's busy too during the day.

Lynn, before you drop $... In addition to above suggestions: Have you changed the default wireless network name? Have you secured your wireless network? I would do the above as well as possibly changing the wireless channel (frequency). In my experience doing the above will fix most of your connection issues. And if not, then maybe it's time to get a linksys. peter
