  1. Caught this nice looking Bow down south. Pretty small water. Was a nice suprise because I normally only see cutties up this far. I won't reveal what I caught him on. Sorry SupremeLeader but I am enjoying everybody's pics lately and thought I would throw one on.
  2. Pick up one of these cradles. Best way to handle pike. There are a few other brands a guy can get and I am sure they all do the same job. Caught some monsters that were easily handled with a cradle. http://www.wholesalesports.com/storefront/...prod227778.html
  3. Nice pics. Looks like a good month.
  4. Just a thought. Could the increase in the number of anglers on the water this year have something to do with the thousands of people who have not been working in the oil patch. Drilling rig utilization is somewhere around 19% for the province and service rig utilization is around 35% i think. This is just the rig division. You have so many other positions in the patch that I know are slow also. I know guys that are working for us have not been working much and have instead actually been enjoying summer. Getting out camping with their families and yes, going fishing. Normally our guys stay busy and don't have time to get out and do anything. Just my two cents.
  5. Beautiful pics. Love the spots on those browns. Thanks for sharing.
  6. Nice pics Kyle. Looks like you guys had a good day. Looking forward to getting out soon, even if it will have to be close to home. Get the Gator gear ready.
  7. Very nice pics Beed. Good start to the year. Always enjoy your pics. Keep them coming.

    First Pike!

Congrats on your first pike. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Nice fish Max. Congrats.
  11. Those are amazing shots. Thanks for sharing.
  12. I think your right Hawg. I have been thinking the exact same thing for the last couple of years. I think the seasons have shifted.
  13. Nice fish. Sounds like you had a good time. Went out with Kyle the other night on a lake we have never fished. Steady action but nothing over the 5 - 7 lb mark. Some acrobatic ones that took to the air. Thanks for sharing storey and pic.
  14. I always use a metal leader. Doesn't seem to bother the pike. After catching a few pike and looking at your steel leader you will be glad you put one on. I use one for walleye too back in Sask. because there is always pike in the area and it doesn't seem to spook them either. The water is usually off color though so that may be why the leader is no big deal. Good luck. They are a riot on a fly rod.
  15. http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?showtopic=8526 Is this the one you were thinking about.
  16. Another great movie. Always nice to come down to the computer in the morning and find some new fish porn to drool over. Keep them coming.

Thanks for posting. Looks like beautiful water and nice fish. Just more water to put on the ever growing list. Keep on posting.
  18. Depending what lakes you plan on fishing some can very easily be fished from shore. During spring and late fall the weed growth has either not started or has died off. The fish are usually cruising the weed edges or drops feeding. Some lakes during summer can be hard to fish when the weeds are at their thickest. Other lakes that are surrounded by trees can making casting difficult but if the bottom is not to soft or deep you can always wade out a little ways. As far as techniques there are many different methods as in fishing rivers. You just have to find what they are feeding on and the best technique to match. There are some really good books out there on still water fishing that would help you out.
  19. Nice fish. Love the spots. I like how they come right down and continue right under the belly. Not sure I have ever seen that before. Thanks for sharing. Keep the pics coming.
  20. Yes. Show us the cutty. Need more fish porn. Don't hold back. Some of us are still iced over and snowed in.

Nice color on that brown. Good work. Glad to see your getting out. It's been months since I've been out and it is killing me.
  22. Nice pics guys. thanks for sharing. Hoping for a break in the weather soon to try and make it down there. Winter has been killing me. Has anyone else had a hard time falling asleep at night because all I can think about is fishing and planning trips for this summer. Glad to see you guys got on the water and got to scratch the itch.
  23. I feel the same way. They flash through so much action so fast it leaves you wondering what really happened. They flash through still shots add a short video clip a few more still shots and their done. It felt more like watching a trailer for a show that will be coming out later. I did like seeing a little fish porn though to help get through the winter. The camera work was also a little jumpy and he seemed to missing good stuff just outside the frame. Not sure if this would show up better in HD as I only watched it in regular. I also think it is hard to condense a cross Canada adventure into 22mins. Hopefully they only get better. I found the same problem with their DVD I bought. Camera work and editing seemed questionable. More amature or low budget. They do get into some nice fish though. I guess we will see what happens this week.
  24. Nice. Always look forward to seeing your vids. See any bulls that day. Looking at the size of the net on your buddies back it looks like he was hoping to get into a few. Keep them coming. Helps me get through the cold winters.
  25. Nice pics. One of these days I will get out there. Thanks for sharing.
