I second that. I end up with a couple of garbage bags just from our local stocked pond, though this is all from construction projects where the motto seems to be "Just be glad we are here and pick up our mess while you are at it." I have picked up on many waterways before and I need to carry surgical gloves with me in the future, considering what I am picking up. I will send pictures of my collection over time if you want.....Kerry

Currently I use a pedestal base because that is what the vise came with. It is a suction base so does not rely on weight but you do need a smooth surface. I have also used a clamp base for many years and see advantages for having both. Height is not an issue as it is designed to lower or raise the jaws to suit any seating height you may have

Yeah being rear ended by the Tooth Fairy would suck! But taking out Santa might actually be a money saving proposition??!!

If you are on this board please PM me so I can PM you my phone number. Thanks and I promise it will be at least interesting....Kerry

I used this material earlier this winter to tie some Bow River Buggers. I found that yes it needed to be packed if you were going to trim it to shape. I also cut the lengths in half and tied them in but only in the area I was going to trim because you did not need to have it full length. If you want it full length for your fly, take a toothbrush and brush the stuff out to shape it seemed to work for me. Hope this helps a little....Kerry

I like it the way it is. Should float well, the legs will provide alot of movement, not much to not like here. That time will come down if you do a dozen or so......Kerry

They can't replace it if it is bad? It might be simpler to pay them the hour and get them to do it. I bought an Imac a few months ago and had them install the windows system, I installed Mac Word, everything okay so far....Kerry

Birchy, take an old toothbrush....or your wifes' if you are brave and go over the underside of the thorax fairly vigorously to frizz it up. Certainly is an improvement well done.....Kerry

How To Manage A World Class Fishery In You Backyard
Inconnu replied to reevesr1's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
I have to agree with what all of you have said. In particular I agree with Pacres, keep the location a secret. I think popularity is a double edged sword. The more people that learn of the Bow and learn to fish it, the more competition there is, but then the more people there are who will want to protect it. I think etiquette is the one thing that can keep fishing the rivers manageable as we all try to get along. I believe there is good science behind management of the fisheries, often it is the lack of funding for good management that is mistakenly blamed on the wrong proffessionals. -
Good video anyway. I have watched fish techs when they do the measuring, weighing, tagging and release, I haven't heard anyone slam them and they are not gentle by any stretch of the imagination. Personally I have only lifted two trout clear of the water for pictures at the insistance of the guide, everything else never leaves the water. I notice a lot of fish lifted out of the water for pictures, haven't heard too many people.....hmmm maybe none, complain about that. Perhaps we should give people the benefit of the doubt instead of jumping on assumptions. Maybe some folks have the shack nasties I don't know, but this is a friendly community and people stick hooks in critters mouths and haul them out of the water, it is what we do. Difference might be patting it on the head and letting it go compared to eating it, but we are all guilty of fishing here. Tako I have fished that lake a few times and I won't tell them that those are almost bait sized compaired to some of them. Your secret is safe with me

Jon Boat And The Lower Bow

I have fished with guides that use that combination below the weir at Carseland. -
Wholesale Sports may carry them. My Stearns Steelheader vest came in self inflating or manual inflating models. I chose manual because I was kind of worried about self inflation in the rain? May not be a concern, but wasn't sure. I know Mustang and SOS makes them in self inflating. SOS is not a fishing vest, but you wear it over your head and strapped around your waist or mid section. Best to try them on if you can. I think you may have to order them as most dealers carry the manual inflatable kind that still uses the cartridge, you pull the cord that is up on the chest of the vest......Kerry http://chetcomarine.com/index.asp?PageActi...mp;Category=145

I like the creativity and catching a fish on what you have tied is a good high. I gave up on the idea of saving money years ago and now I just do it because it is.......part of who I am.

I'll e-mail the farm for more information on the width.

So if I can find the colour(s) I want I might as well buy a few and see how they look. I saw his booth at the show but he was busy when I went by. Thanks Brent.....Kerry

So how hard would they be to dye? I found a place that sells 14" x 3" laterally, white plumes for $3 each. I am not sure how hard they would be to dye if I bought some.....Kerry

Hey Brent. I grew up fishing the Cowichan. I walked the Anglers Footpath every week and every time we camped out on the May long weekend we inevitably slept under the same huge Cedar tree in a lightening storm.....not so smart in my youth. Thanks for the trip down memory lane....Kerry
