Not 500 a day, but 50 dozen a week is about right. Some do use head cement, but many do not, it really depends on where they are coming from. Many of the ones that do use cement tend to fill in the eyes anyhow. The bigger issue is the hooks used in many of the mass produced bargain flies. I don't put a lot of stock in them as I've had a few very nice fish bend out or break the cheap hooks.

Backup Files For Computer
admin replied to fish4trout's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I moved my backup online. There are a number of services you can use to do this and IMO is the safe. One other thing to keep in mind is that if there is something bigger than a virus, say theft, flooding or fire, the external won't help you out. If you do go the External drive route, be sure to get one with RAID, using multiple drives. That way if one of the backup drives goes down, you can replace it without losing any data. -
Half and half of what? lol Seriously, that light coloured fly looks awesome.

Finn Dog or Finn Racoon is not templedog. I think that templedog is actually domestic Dog, or originally was. Lots of guys won't use it out of priniple. The Finn Racoon is really close to templedog. It is close to Fox, but nothing close to Polar bear. If you can find it, seal on a pelt is pretty close to polar bear. The icelandic sheep is good, but I find it to be too long for most things I tie and end up scraping lots of it.

That is one sexy looking overhead shot of that fly. I picked up some of those heads, but have yet to try it. One of the guys there tying (Mike) tied me up a nice little fly using them. I just need to find some of that Finn dogg they were tying with.

Just add some lead barbell eyes and you have a fluffy concussion in the works. Nice idea with the cones. I would maybe try putting the cones on in reverse so you really get your materials to stand away from the tube.
-
That looks kewl. Do you have a bunch of cones inbedded in the body or am I just seeing things...

I got one off one of the guys last year and am really happy. The components are decent and I was able to pick blank colour, thread colour to match my primary line, component color to match the reel as well as getting my name added to the blank. He also added markers on the blank I could use to measure the fish. IMO, if I could build my own, this is what I would have done, but I don't have the time or ambition to do so.

Twins? Hope you have good ones. -
There was a grayling being released, and the pike was after that grayling. Pretty sure this is posted a couple years back on the site, but it's a classic now.

Yes, Thanks for that, that is exactly the spin.

Thanks Headscan. I don't think tube vs shank makes or breaks the pattern, that tube looks slick. For sure, they looks like 2 completely different species now. Agreed on those points Max. If you get a chance, check out Todd Scharf and ask him to show you his polar bear dubbing loop. Now that really keeps the hackle from collapsing on his HAF.
-
This is what I go on for Intruders. The pattern is listed in Dec Hogan's "A Passion for Steelhead", but I don't own a copy. If anyone does and can post the recipe, that would be cool. I just recently watched this youtube clip, which should make it clear, the reason that the fly should be tied in a certain way. If you don't add some elements, it just colapses when it gets wet. Just watch this thing when it gets wet, it's still just as large as when it's dry. Click here if the movie does not play.

There should be an email being sent out later tonight or tomorrow that will have the coupon. Just print that out and bring it to the show.

I see what you mean. Did you get the Fly Fusion email? You can print the coupon from there.
