  3. This is a classical "We know better" - "No need to ask". "An overreach of jurisdiction" take your pick. I asked if they planned to charge the boat owner for the recovery? But before they responded, I though they were wondering if they would be charged for destruction of the boat! There answer was maybe! Matt: Who tried to run you down? CFD or Foothills fire Department. If it was CFD they are out of their jurisdiction. Take their numbers and time of day and call 311. Also post the information on this forum

  4. Schaeffer J. S., Hoffman E. M.. Performance of barbed and barbless hooks in a marine recreational fishery, North American Journal of Fisheries Management, States the authors concluded that barbless hooks provided only a slight benefit at the expense of reduced capture rates. Typically those fishing barbs are fishing bait and large hooks both of which contribute to "deep takes". Deep takes considerably increase the release time and therefore the mortality. Too many have accepted the barbless argument as gospel, never looking at the data. We as fly anglers typically fish very small hooks, small hooks with barbs have been shown to reduce harm as the hook stays locked into jaw. A barbless hook creates a conical hole which can become infected. (we all see this with heavily fished cutts). Size 16 and smaller barbed flies may actually provide a better catch and release event for the trout. Now if you are a Fudd and love to grip and grin, tire out your catch or just a fish butter fingers barbless may be the way for you to go. Flame away you barbless Zealots, I also fish trebles on my flies

  5. Holy thread necromancy! I love the comment is more valid today than it was 11 years ago, when people were just starting to carry cameras around with them full time.

  6. I have about 20 minutes of video of FFD trying to free the boat BEFORE it actually got away from them. I will send them an email to see if they would like to use any or all of the videos i took in hopes they might want to review and possibly get some learning from the video. When i first seen the FFD discussing the recovery yesterday, they asked me if i knew who owned the boat. I don't. I thought that was a little weird as they told me they rescued the two of them the day before? Not sure what that says.

  7. Good intentions but lack of knowledge by the Foothills Fire Department. When I spoke to them they seemed full of confidence the boat would be found with no problem. Where was the owner? Nowhere to be seen!
