onthefly7 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Is it possible/ practical to wetwade all of july? Or should I buy waders? Quote
ÜberFly Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Absolutely!! But what are you going to do on those very late evening hatches! P Is it possible/ practical to wetwade all of july? Or should I buy waders? Quote
Din Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Will never catch me wet wading the bow in the south end of the city! Quote
PeteZahut Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I wet waded yesterday on Fallentimber. Perfect day for it. I refuse to wet wade the Bow any time of the year. Personal choice. Quote
Tungsten Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 If its 30c then i'm wet wading but i don't go in past my knees. As evening comes around i put on my breathables.Bowriver water is very hard, after a day of wet wading your legs will be very dry. Quote
acurrie Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Don't forget about mosquito's either. When you wet wade in the middle of Skeeter season the Muskol comes right off and you'll get eaten alive! Quote
ÜberFly Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Yes, and the fact that Calgary water is very "hard" to begin with. P why is it hard? chemical runoff? Quote
reevesr1 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I wet wade below town post runoff. Havent noticed any lesions or oozing sores because of it. Quote
Brad29 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Depends on your tolerance to cold water, and if you like stone flies crawling up into your gaunch, LOL! Quote
bigalcal Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I wet wade 90% of the time. I mostly fish SW Alberta streams and usually stand on the bank or very shallow water, so I rarely get above the knees. I will be wet wading on June 16. Last year I had to use my waders only in the fall. As for the Bow..never fished it! Then again, I wear shorts all year round except for church weddings, funerals and Xmas staff party. 7 years and counting!! Oh.... and I cycle to work every day!! Those UPS guys are pussies! HaHa! Castuserraticus Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Hard water = abundance calcium. The main rock along the Bow is limestone. Quote
jksnijders Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Is that a rubber? Nice. Alot of awesome things turn up in there.. Friend of my dad's found a dead body in the Bow once. Quote
headscan Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Is that a rubber? Yup, the other kind of Bow river whitefish... Quote
jksnijders Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Yup, the other kind of Bow river whitefish... I quite like that analogy.... Lol. Quote
headscan Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Wish I could take credit for it, but it's just a play on Coney Island whitefish. Quote
