I found a pontoon craft out of the UK and thought of doing one out of cedar-strip . The chair is just to give you an idea I plan on one of those fold down from Can.-tire . Think it will Float ?post-346-1238511730.jpgpost-346-1238511955.jpg

Haha of course man, thats a really cool project. I was looking into building a boat as something to do... but ill walk and fish instead! Post when its done man!

Nice looking 'toons. they will look great when clear coated. :wave_smile:

 

If you're going to use it on the river, a layer or two of fiberglass would be a good idea.

I have plans and a prototype built of a wooden pontoon using tortured plywood rather than strip. The construction got somewhat stalled due to my skill level. I like the hardshell because everything can fit inside the hull so less wind resistance and stuff to catch the line on. Maybe this spring I can finally finish it.

 

The biggest problem was developing a releasable system for the pontoons so the boat could be broken down for transport.

 

Pisces - the flat hull design may be problematic for maneuverability but it should track well - good for trolling but not so good for moving water.

That looks well made Pisces, I would imagine you've spent a few hours working on that project? Should look really nice once its stained and finished. Hope it gives you many years of pleasure! :D
