Swede Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 The Fly Tier's Benchside Reference to Techniques and Dressing Styles (Ted Leeson & Jim Schollmeyer). Just got a copy of this book and I would say it's the best book I've ever bought about fly tying. No matter what your skill level is, this book will make you a better tyer. Probably most of you already own it, but if you don't, pick a copy up it's well worth the money. Quote
admin Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I think you can also get a Cd-rom version of this. It is a great book and I would consider it a must have for any tyer. There are an amazing amount of techniques covered inside. Quote
SilverDoctor Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 It's been a valued book in my library for years. Recommend it also. Quote
headscan Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Yeah, when I first started tying I looked at it and thought it was over my head so I bought the Intro version which is really good as well. When I finally bought the Benchside Reference I was blown away by how detailed it was and still useful for a beginner. The photos are excellent and the steps are thoroughly explained. It's the only fly tying book I couldn't live without. Quote
Leroy Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I got my copy just after it first came out and I use it alot. The book is getting well worn, but it certainly is helpfull. Quote
PeteZahut Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Thanks to this thread I just ordered it through Amazon. I have been struggling a bit trying to learn this art so I hope this helps me out. Quote

Slyangler Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I would highly recommend it to anyone also, particularly for the beginning tier. Loaded with great info. Quote

Flytyer Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 It's really the only book you need. I used to have about 7 or 8 tying books but now this is the only one I have. I consider this a MUST HAVE reference Quote
headscan Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I got mine at West Winds and I've also seen it at Fish Tales and Troutfitters. CP probably keeps it in stock too, but honestly I've never looked for it when I was there. Quote
LlamaLeach Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 You can order it through Chapters For $83.00 Quote

Smitty Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Just an FYI: This book (and all others) routinely go on sale in the 3rd week of August during the Fishing Hole's wall to wall sale. That's when I got mine. 50% off. If you can wait that long... Smitty Quote
