The Fly Tier's Benchside Reference to Techniques and Dressing Styles (Ted Leeson & Jim Schollmeyer). Just got a copy of this book and I would say it's the best book I've ever bought about fly tying. No matter what your skill level is, this book will make you a better tyer. Probably most of you already own it, but if you don't, pick a copy up it's well worth the money.

I think you can also get a Cd-rom version of this. It is a great book and I would consider it a must have for any tyer. There are an amazing amount of techniques covered inside.

Yeah, when I first started tying I looked at it and thought it was over my head so I bought the Intro version which is really good as well. When I finally bought the Benchside Reference I was blown away by how detailed it was and still useful for a beginner. The photos are excellent and the steps are thoroughly explained. It's the only fly tying book I couldn't live without.

Drooling over it on amazon.... Hard to resist the add to cart button

I know what you mean. I had an online gift card for Amazon and had been saving it for a rainy day. Then I read this thread and boom, pressed the button.

It's really the only book you need. I used to have about 7 or 8 tying books but now this is the only one I have. I consider this a MUST HAVE reference

Got my copy for Christmas, thinking of taking it to some printing shop to get it "spiral bound" (coil binding) anyone had this done to their copy?

I might be wrong but its a way too big a book for spiral binding. Pretty massive book.

Just an FYI:

This book (and all others) routinely go on sale in the 3rd week of August during the Fishing Hole's wall to wall sale. That's when I got mine.

50% off.

If you can wait that long... ;)
