murray
This evening,I stopped in at the Canadian Tire store on McLeod Trail and Southland Drive with the sole purpose of picking up a copy of the new fishing regulations. When I asked at the Sporting Goods desk, I was told that they would not give me a copy if I had not bought my new licence there. After a conversation with the manager I explained that because I was over 65 years of age that I was not required to buy a licence. I did end up with a copy but it took quite a conversation in order for them to hand me it. My question is, has anyone else had a hard time getting the regulations this year? How common is this? Is it even legal to deny somebody the fishing regulations? What are your thoughts?
fishinglibin
They should be available to anyone who asks.

SilverDoctor
I picked up 3 at the Beacon Hill CT with no problems. In the Geezer boat also. Maybe change CT's
BurningChrome
Seems like this is something that Fish & Wildlife or whoever prints the regs should know about. I'm pretty sure that when I walk into any fly shop that sells licenses I can grab a copy of the regs even if I purchased my license online. SilverDoctor
By the way, you can also order them online and they will be mailed to our home.
MattyTaylor
Was at a local shop this week and they didn't have them - and it was relayed to me in a way like they won't be getting any (not like they had just run out). Kind of surprised me, definitely think it's something any retail outlet that sells anything fishing related should have. We need as much awareness out there as possible.
SilverDoctor
They only send the Regulations to stores that sell licences.
BurningChrome
They only send the Regulations to stores that sell licences. Yes, and from what I've heard fewer shops are selling them since more people are buying online. You can always download the PDF and keep it on your phone: http://albertaregulations.ca/2016-Alberta-Fishing-Regs.pdf
MattyTaylor
That's fair, I guess at least to me anecdotally they shouldn't make them harder to obtain, just the opposite. I'm an old school paper over tech guy though.
ÜberFly
Wow! Selling them!! Can they even do that? Thats pretty low considering that they get them free from the Government!! cpraud
I just download a copy from online and save the pdf into my phone and my tablet, then I've always got a copy without carrying the magazine. Usually go through and delete all of the ads and extra stuff as well so its a smaller file too.
