My first couple attempts at starting some more traditional style tying. Not that these patterns are all that traditional from what I've read but its a start.

What are they for? Good even hair stacking. Do you trim bellies off?

I used them for Bass a few weeks ago, worked awesome. The small ones are really small, size of a nickel ish. Prolly work on the Bow or for pike or whatever. I just like to tie them. Its been awhile since I spun some deer hair :) and They look awesome on the water as well, killer movement with the tail :) that brown one I call the rat could def be trimmed down more to look a lot tighter, its the size of a golf ball lol!!

I do trim the belly of the flies. You need a gap between the hook point and the material or the fish wont get hooked :)

I'm guessing you meant to type #8? Nice tie. I've seen fewer and fewer lately. Seemed liked the peak was end of August/first week of sept or so.

Nothing like the numbers I've seen on the Clearwater in idaho.

Anyone weigh in on the fluctuation of numbers year to year?
