In order to clean up the mascot fly thread I'm starting it fresh here .

A few guidelines are going to be added here to improve the flow process of the thread:

 

When you are selected to add the next component you have approximately 12 hours to respond.

If above is not met I will designate the next contributor.

You don't have to be a tyer to participate......there were a couple that refused to add in because of this and other reasons which in my mind was lame.

Please participants only post here.

 

 

Thanks for your cooperation and lets make this a fun event.

Pattern #1

 

Hook - Daiichi 1250 # 12

Thread - Red

Tail- pheasant tail

Dubbing - Black Peacock Icedub

Body lateral lines - glow in the dark mylar motion creamy white

Wing Case - Partridge, tied 1/3 up the body and folded to the front.

Legs- red and black barred rubber legs

Thorax- Fiery Brown Seal's Fur Thorax with some Gold Lite Brite

Pattern #2

 

Hook: Mustad 94840 #14

Thread: Light Olive

Tail: Pale green antron

Middle section of body: Fluorescent Pink Floss (middle 1/3)

Body: light olive ice dubbing. Dubbed lightly over hotspot

Mid-wing: bleached deer hair wing tied over mid point

Hackle (rear): under sized light blue dun tied in at tail and palmered over body to the mid-wing

Front hackles: one each grizzly and cinnamon

Front Wing: White and Dun CDC tied caddis style over hackle

Ok here goes.

 

Let do a steelie pattern.

 

I don't have the exact product number of this hook (I used 'em all on my steelie trip) but....

 

Hook Daiichi Salmon/steelhead #2/0

Toolman I know you don't tie but you should be able to add a component so please do

 

I changed the order of the tail and tag so it would be in the proper tying order for those that have never tried steelie flies before

add some lead to the hook. Three of the same pattern with tree different weights for different currents.

Ooops! Apologies Flytier.

 

I missed this post! You really picked a difficult hook for this pattern, if you are using a tan thread then I will add a rib of fine silver wire.

I haven't got into tying just yet. I received my starter kit as as one of the prizes at the Bow River Clean-up but haven't had time to get into it just yet. Thanks for the invite to participate but I will have to ask PMD to pick someone else.
