Gaffer Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Rather than pollute splasher5's thread I was wondering who everyone's favortie tyers were. Myself, I like Charlie Craven & . Davie's voice in his videos is like butter. Makes me want to grow a beard, pack my tweed coat & head to Ireland to spey cast. Andrew Quote
Guest JayVee Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 That's easy. Mike Maily! Charlie Craven too and I could watch Oliver Edwards tie flies all day long. SilverDoctor Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I have quite a few, but the ones that stand out are tiers I have watched, A. K. Best, Paul Whillock, Roman Moser, and Don Bastian. I was very fortunate to spend the day with Mary Dette when I fished the Catskills in the 70's. We chatted and tied in her shop and I sat in awe watching the daughter of two classic tiers, a master herself tie so effortlessly it was like watching water flow. Quote
CTownTBoyz Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Bob Popovics, and Tim Borski. Locally, the best tiers I've seen are Aaron Caldwell, and Kevin Noel. Quote
ironfly Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Paul Whillock for his realistics. Dave Whitlock for his deer-hair work. Will Bush for his Spey flies; did anyone see his work at the Trout Waters booth at the WCFFE? Quote
toolman Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Rene Harrop and Ken Morrish are a couple of my favorites. Quote
bulltrout Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 kelly galloup, mike mercer, skip morris, john barr, jack dennis, and gary lafontaine to name a few... Quote
Ricinus Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Leroy Hyatt-- watching him Saturday mornings got me started.. I still have VHS tapes of the programs. Regards Mike Quote
CanuckCamper Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 I was lucky enough to have Charlie Craven set me up to start my tying, his skills are amazing. I also like Kelly Galloup and John Barr. My current favourite Internet guy is Richard Strolis. CC Quote
