SteveM Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 "Red sky at morning, sailors take warning..." Turned out to be a gorgeous day at Upper Kananaskis Lake; my bro' fishes near the inlet... We caught lots of these... Meanwhile, this guy went into my bro's backpack & helped himself... Took the fly rod to Pine Coulee Reservoir to chase walleye... Got a few on a stripped streamer, but really slew 'em on this little jig under an indicator... Went to Crawling Valley in search of bigger 'eyes. I like this shot of my bro' in his Fishcat tube... Found some 'eyes... (More to come...) Quote
SteveM Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 Crawling Valley walleye... My best of the day... Walleye parts... Lots of these guys at Crawling Valley... (Still more to come...) Quote
SteveM Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 Saw a few of these... And lots of these... Crawling Valley Reservoir... Did a little creek fishin'... Since I started with a sunrise, I'll end with a sunset: My buddy hikes back to the car after a fun evening on the creek... Until next time, my friends! Quote
reevesr1 Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Stick to the lakes, stay out of the creeks! Nice trip buddy! Quote
adams Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Lots of teeth on those walleyes......do you need a steel leader? Adams Quote
SteveM Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 Lots of teeth on those walleyes......do you need a steel leader? Adams I don't use one; never had a bite off, so far. Walleye don't tend to get hooked deep, in my experience. Quote
darrinhurst Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Great pics! Looks like a very fun day. Quote
jksnijders Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Nice pics.. Lots of teeth on those walleyes......do you need a steel leader? Walleye's teeth won't cut mono. I believe they are round. Quote

Hawgstoppah Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 pretty amazing the diversity we have in Alberta when you can do all THAT.... in one day. Thanks for taking us along on the journey! Quote
SteveM Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 pretty amazing the diversity we have in Alberta when you can do all THAT.... in one day. Thanks for taking us along on the journey! I guess you could do all that...in one day; but, I didn't. Looking back at my original post: starting with a sunrise pic & ending with a sunset pic could give that impression. No, they were a bunch of separate trips. I kinda posted in a hurry & didn't add much detail; sorry for the confusion... Quote
SteveM Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 Thats awesome, never would have thought of using green myself. Me neither. It was someone who ties for Wholesale Sports, & he/she was probably drunk on fermented elephant urine at the time! It worked pretty well, though... Quote

Heimdallr Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Great shots Steve. I always enjoy your pictures. Love the Walleye macros! Quote
SteveM Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 Good job Rev good job and other than the siggy not many flowers Yeah, I feel kinda bad about that; I know you look forward to those pretty flower pics. I'm going fishin' with BigBowTrout tomorrow; I'll snap a few shots of him frolicking in a field of wildflowers, just for you... Quote
cowtownscribe Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Great post Seve! I like all the pictures, but all the 'eye variations are just killer! That's one species I used to target many moons ago when I first moved to Alberta - but had dropped off my radar as I spent more time frolicking in the foothills for trout and char. *Sigh* Maybe next year Frank.
