  1. i have one and use it from time to time. i find the spring on mine is a little weak but still holds the fibers until i clamp it off. i havent figured out the dowels yet. lost the instruction book soon after i got the gadget
  2. if lethbridge didnt have it, wholesale will transfer between stores. the calgary store is now the warehouse for all of the stores i dont think we will have much of an issue with cabela's. bass pro is supposed to opening in balzac soon, now that they have the water issue sorted out. last i heard about cabela's was that they were only going to open an outet for mail order in canada. but who knows
  3. careful, she might sit on you
  4. oh god hawgstoppah. did you have to do that. my god that was awful. she's a little heavier than i remember. i dont think shes more popular, just annoying enough to get noticed
  5. that's an interesting way of doing it. so you just slipped the beads over the cdc and glued them in place? and here i was screwing around with wires and such. i like the look of this.
  6. i did an internet search and 2 websites that i found indicate boiling the hair will straighten. oddly, both sites were art sites referring to deer hair paint brushes. if i find anything else, i'll post.
  7. uhhh, huh. sure hummmmmm i believe you. honestly. i swear i believe you!!
  8. the may fly tag was on the ad for purchase. prior to that, no i had no idea. i'm assuming they are wing templates for mayfly patterns? i threw in the clothes peg, only assuming that the burning of feathers would smell just about as great as hair... eww do you use these at all?
  9. in my pile of stuff that i have, i found a set of 'wing burners' actually 2 sets, but i had no idea what they were and i was going to take a picture but while searching through an online fly tying material store i tripped across them. what exactly do you do with them, or how do you use them? i'm envisioning feathers, a lighter and clothes peg for your nose
  10. yep, self taught german. dont ask me to speak. i can only half ass speak in french. i translate half the crap at work. french, spanish, dutch, danish, german, norwegian.
  11. i was under the impression you were supposed to catch fish with flies, not loose them
  12. spinning deer hair. and is there anyway to do it neatly without hanging a vaccuum from the celling? i guess more specifically i should say shaping spun deer hair. i can spin it, but no matter what. the shaping looks like dung
  13. nevermind the huge horned black glasses. but, how about that she looks like a russian hit man in a dress?!? sorry brent, you would be too young. i'm almost too young. unfortunately not quite. consdier yourself lucky for missing the height of her popularity.
  14. LOL LF, hahaha. OMG i have so wanted to do that. so many times. i like the comercial. head hunting company. too funny. it's nice to be able to read the subtitles
  15. because most of you guys were out of school BEFORE the metric system was intorduced. LK2 - 10.5
  16. call fish and wildlife and ask about obtaining grizzly hair from a taxidermist from cuttings on previous years bears?
  17. moose is supposed to be quite good. i have just tied up a bunch of what supposed to be streamers with moose and dog undercoating and they float... not exactly what i was expecting. check the hunting regs. if you can get a tag and shoot a grizzly - which you can do. then there shouldnt be an issue with having it, as long as the animal was not poached. buying some may be the problem. if you need some, i have it, not a lot but i would be willing to share. thank god for taxidermists... I luv you man. anyway. i have black bear as well if you want to substitute. (long guard hair and dubbing under fur) oh, i forgot - caribou. i have some of that also

  22. take the CHEAP rod, just in case. the um, charters - are not so nice to luggage, tube or no tube they would find a way to fold it in half. have a great time
  23. groan. oh the hijackers are out and about. not much to do on a friday night? lol good guesses. it was a smidge under 19. and that was my first brown actually, first fish (landed) on the Bow River. anyone else going to add a fish?
  24. i'm almost finished the other UK swap, then i have to press out 13 Canada flies by Nov long weekend. after that i am good to go. just as an FYI. i'm away the 2nd week of January.
  25. there is one in beaver mines that the locals talk about. stella's i do believe. right across from the general store. the other one that i can think of is on the right side of 507 just after you turn south from hwy 3. you could also try the castle mtn hostel. they do have private rooms and you have great access to the castle, lynx, carbondale, gardner, lost, suicide and york. of course all those rivers are now closed but a thought for next september. i have a friend that works at the resort, and he also guides. i have not frequented a BB down there. sorry. i sleep in my truck or at the resort.
