  1. Teck and I made it out Sunday evening. Great fun. The score ended 2-0 for me. That being said there were many fish hooked but lost by both of us. Ah the joy and pain of competition!
  2. Ladystrange and I made it out for our match this evening. BeAutiful night. Managed to get the monkey off my back for match fishing with 1 to hand. Ladystrange scored a 0. That being said i feel she gets the victory tonight as she managed to leave injury free unlike Rick last week. Good to meet you and fish with you Tiana.
  3. Perhaps the score should be appended by the word SKUNK. For instance I might get 1 point for actually getting my match done but then my score would look like this: Tim 1 pt - SKUNKx1 Then next week my score might be: Tim 2 pts - SKUNKx2 and so on... I would be interesting at the end to see who makes it through all the rounds "clean" with no skunk's.
  4. No problem, it was fun to be out. Glad to hear you had some success after our skunk session. Did you get a headlamp yet?
  5. No picking on me now Mike.
  6. I was hoping that I could report a tie for Benbear and myself and leave it at that but I guess i will have to post the actual score. 0-0. Had fun and walked a lot of river for a very enjoyable evening. Terrific weather and great conversation. Nice to meet you Jim!
  7. Agreed. I love Behnke's books.
  8. max is correct with what he said. The Athabasca bow is a unique type of bow that is only found there. They are the only bows in north America that are native to any drainage east of the continental divide.
  9. You can't forget about Kings Restaurant on Barlow NE. Kind of dive like but the absolute best won ton soup in the city!
  10. Yeah, I was pretty surprised as well when I was looking at the maps last year for my dad. He also wanted confirmation on how far upstream he could take his Jet/Jon.
  11. I have the SA quad tip system on my 8 weight rod and it works great. Quick change and you don't have to restring your rod with line. I have an Orvis multi-tip system on one of my 5 weights and it works well also although the welded loops on this Orvis system are quite large and hang up a little in my guides on shorter casts. The guides are larger on my 8 weight so that might be why the SA system does not hang up.
  12. The city has a pretty good online mapping service: http://emaps.calgary.ca/ I took a screen capture from there and circled the city limit in red as it crosses the Bow upstream of the Deerfoot extension bridge.
  13. If you want angling opportunities for kids then why don't you ask them to make Allen Bill Pond a kid only fishery (15 and under).
  14. I was out at Allen Bill yesterday helping Jim recover and relocate the native fish to the Elbow River. Tons of fun and very interesting. Jim could not remember the number of fish they were going to stock there off the top of his head but he did say that they would be stocking it on two separate occasions over the summer. I believe this multiple socking method is to sustain the fishery over a longer period. Perhaps we should ask him to explain why they use a 5 fish limit and gain some more understanding of their fish management practices before we lobby for change? Sundance, with that being said I have to say that I admire your passion for teaching the younger generation about our favorite past time. You make some very valid points!
  15. The new Bass Pro has some of these as well.
  16. My god I need that pack. I could bring in all my rods and gear wherever I go. Truly an amazing product! name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350">Click here if the movie does not play.
  17. Not sure if anyone has seen this or if it has been posted before but funny stuff none the less... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEs2g_UfDrM Makes you wonder what the fish say to each other after we set them free...LOL
  18. I have not tried the Patagonia jackets but I will echo bcube's comments on the G4. Excellent wading jacket. I love mine for all weather. The price is definitely steep but it does have every feature you would want and the quality is superb.
  19. Now that is a great attitude to the whole growing older thing!! I think it might be a flyfishing thing...
  20. That may be but I still think whities resemble the prized bonefish very much and are quite a pretty fish.
  21. Nice looking mountain bonefish!!
  22. You can watch Fly Tying the Anglers art online at: http://kwsu.org/Offers/FlyTying.aspx
  23. I agree with RickR...look what has already happened in Europe. In Germany and Switzerland C&R is illegal. The only way you can fish is if you kill what you catch. Once your limit is done you are done fishing...
